The Elysium had finished docking at Earth Space dock and Phoenix summoned her engineering heads and XO to her office.

Gary was on the bridge when heard the summons came through and he made the short trip from the bridge to the Captain's office. Arriving he saw he was the first one to arrive. "Captain." He said entering the office.

Kara was down in main engineering when the summons came through the speaker as the computer relayed the Captains message. She quickly retied her hair, and tapped her commabdge. =A= Holt, report to main engineering please. The Captain Has summoned both I and Carter to a meeting, you're in charge of engineering until I return. Quickly, please!=A=

Holt, down in the Depths of the ship, Repairing an energy conduit, sighed. =A= Yes, sir, be there as soon as i finish my repair down here. Don't worry, I won't blow up the ship or anything =A=

Kara rushed out into the nearest turbolift, and arrived soon at the Captain Office, entering. "Hello, Captain, Commander." She nodded, moving to take a seat. "I'm sure Lt. Carter will be here within moments." She mentioned, sitting.

Smith walked in a few minutes after Lieutenant Hoffman. "Captain, commander, lieutenant." He nodded to each of them then sat in an empty chair.

"Thank you both for coming. Now we are heading to Earth Space dock. We are getting a new upgrade installed. I am informing you both," she looked at the Engineers. "We are getting a Quantum Slipstream Drive."

Kara took a moment to look round at Carter, then back to the Captain. "No offence Captain, but how can that be possible. I thought that Starfleet Engineering had basically all but given up hope of Quantum Slipstream technology. Mainly, due to the fact that no computer we could build even within the next fifty years, would be capable of processing the sheer amount of data needed to adjust the phase variance of the quantum field. I assume they must have found a way, but even then, to utilize the same technology of the Borg?" She furrowed her brow, visibily concerned but also intrigued.

Phoenix picked up two PADDS and handed them over. "You both will have plenty of time to go through that with the Engineers at SB1. And I expect your entire team to be experts on it."

Smith took one of the PADDS and looked it over. "Upgrading to a QSD is a major upgrade for us. To get the drive, we'll also have to get an upgrade to the ship's computers, captain, commander."

"Your team will work with the Starbase Engineers to get all that done. Avalon will be off line for most of it." Phoenix added.

Gary looked at Kara and Smith, "You both realize you have your work cut out for you as well as your department. Your going to be spending plenty of time burning the midnight oil on this."

Kara nodded gently, smiling wide. "I am rather excited to get started, if I'm honest. I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight that's for certain. I'll study all the information we have and write up a comprehensive briefing package for our department, with Lieutenant Carter's assistance, I don't see there being any issues. Our team will be ready Captain, commander. You can count on it."

Smith looked at Hoffman. "Lieutenant, there's a lot of data on the computer regarding the QSD. We can use that for reference, for the briefing package. I'd be happy to assist you, if you like."

Phoenix smiled. "I will leave the logistics of this in your capable hands Lieutenant Hoffman. I am sure your team will excel. We dock in 36 hours."

"Aye Captain, commander." Kara stood. "We'll get started at once, that is, after some lunch for the lieutenant and myself. Would you and the commander care to join us, perhaps?" Kara asked "I've blended a brand new chicken parmejan recipe, and i'd like a second opinion of it's exquisite taste before I serve it to my dearest Gallia. Would you do me the honor of serving you at least, a delicious lunch?"

Phoenix smiled but sadly shook her head. "Unfortunately for me, Lieutenant, I have a meeting via Vidlink with Admiral DuLac. I am sorry."

"I don't think I'm needed for the Captain's meeting with Admiral DuLac so I'd be happy to join you and Lieutenant Smith for lunch and the opportunity to try your chicken parmesan." Gary replied.
