Sapphire came straight from Medical to Counseling and asked for the first available counselor.
A moment later Savar came out to the waiting area. "Lt. Morgan? I am Commander Savar, will you follow me please?"
Sapphire stood and followed the Commander back to his office.
Once inside the office Savar shut the door to give them privacy. "What may I assist you with Lieutenant?"
She gave him a smile, that was polite and honest. "My annual counseling review Commander. Its that time of year and the captain has ordered everyone to Medical and Counseling. I try to obey orders where possible."
"A very practical and logical line of thought Lieutenant. Continue that way and it will keep you in good stead." Savar intoned calmly. "As this is our first session together, please tell me a little about yourself."
"I am human, born on Earth 28 years ago, youngest of three children in my family. I am an operations officer. My older sister was a security officer before her passing. "Sapphire said. "this is my fifth posting since the Academy."
Savar made notes as Sapphire talked, "Your parents Lieutenant are they still alive? If so, how do you get along with them and your remaining sibling?"
"My mother is still alive. We get along well. I do not speak with my older brother, nor did I speak, unless absolutely needed to my older sister." Sapphire said it calmly. "You see, I was not meant to live past my 2nd day of life. I am not what they wanted, my siblings. My parents love me"
Savar made a note then stopped and looked at Sapphire, "Why did your siblings resent you and is this the same reason you do not speak with your brother?" Savar inquired.
"The more children the more to split the inheritance." She said calmly. "As my grandmother would say, where there is a Will there is a relative." She shrugged. "When my father died, he left me more than my siblings. They resent that. I never asked for it. In fact I had no interest in the family company. Which I now have to run."
Savar nodded, "Yes, money is usually the cause of most family arguments and as in your family where members to not speak with one another. If I was human, I would tell your brother to go to hell. If I was human. However your method is equally well suited. Do you resent having to run your family business?"
"At first I did. It was not my plan. I was going into Starfleet, and eventually sit in the centre chair. I have had to change them slightly, but I can still get that centre chair, it will just take a bit longer."
"One much always be prepared for change and more so how to cope with change as life rarely goes according to plan Lieutenant or may I call you Sapphire? You of course may call me Savar. You would be a good student of the IDIC."
"Sapphire is fine." She smiled at that. "I have always enjoyed speaking with people who employ such logic."
"Indeed. I would enjoy conversing with you again. You have a very ordered mind. Do you socialize Sapphire?" Savar questioned.
"Yes, when my schedule allows. I spend time in the crew mess, and in the Arcadia Bar and Lounge at times."
"That is good. I have found socializing while at times awkward, is a good means to reduce stress and relax. Make sure you continue to do so Sapphire."
"I will." She smiled.
"I believe you will Sapphire, Is there anything you wish to talk about or anything you feel I should know?"
Sapphire considered it and then shook her head. "No Savar, i think that about covers it."
He nodded, "As you wish Sapphire. A final question for you, "Are you happy?"
"Yes. I am. Happy in my work, in myself."
Savar made a notation on his PaDD, then looked at Sapphire. "Then I commend you Sapphire you have a achieved what many strive for and even less accomplish. Do not lose sight of what got you here and the effort it took."
Sapphire stood, gave him a smile. "Thank you Savar." She shook his hand and left him to his work.
Savar held up his hand in the Vulcan greeting as Sapphire left his office. "Live long and prosper Sapphire Morgan."
