Now she was officially part of the crew Heather made her way to see Major Naxea. Arriving at the Marine CO’s office she pressed the chime and waited for an answer.

"So, Warrant Officer," Naxea spoke to the large Capellan Man'darr. "I want you to work with our new XO and help him get to know the troops."

"I will, ma'am," he replied before glancing at the door upon hearing the chime.

"You're dismissed, Warrant Officer," Naxea said before turning to the door. "Enter."

Heather walked inside the office, saluted and stood to attention as she’d been taught to do throughout her marine training. “Sergeant De La Rose, Marine Medic reporting for duty Major.”

"At ease, Sergeant. Have a seat," she said as Man'darr left the office. "How is married life treating you?" she smiled at the woman.

Heather relaxed and took a seat. “Very well, thank you Major.”

"That's good to hear. Surprising that Senior Chief La Rosa actually settled down," Naxea said as she recalled the few times she had dealt with him. He had struck her as the wild, life-long bachelor with a woman in every port kind of guy. "I recall you got quite emotional in Sickbay when myself, Lieutenat S'hib and Lieutenant McKay were rescued. May I ask what was going on?"

Heather nodded. “I was a slave for several years, they destroyed our ship and took the crew as slaves. I was hooked onto drugs and sold off to a buyer. If it wasn’t for Fernando rescuing me and Tallia for helping me over my drug dependency I’d still be stuck as a slave now.” She offered a smile. “I felt for Lieutenant S’hib in more ways than one, I’m half Betazoid so I could feel his terror as well as understand it.”

Naxea was quiet for a moment as she recalled seeing how scared S'hib was. "I am sorry you had to endure that," she offered genuinely. "Lieutenant S'hib seems to be recovering well by the way."

Heather nodded. “That’s good to hear, I haven’t had a chance to meet him yet but perhaps I will now I’m cleared to work in Sickbay.”

"Please do...he's a handful," she joked. "And I need a break."

Heather grinned. “Anytime you need a break just give me a call, I’m sure I can think of something to talk to him about!”

"I'll do that," Naxea replied. "Also, being the senior medic assigned to the Marines, you'll be charge of making sure we have all of our medical needs taken care of, such as making sure med kits are stocked and providing any basic first aid training to the Marines. You'll also be going with us on missions requiring a medic, if you're comfortable with that."

“Yes Ma’am” Heather nodded. “That’s why I chose to request marine medic duties here aboard ship. It’s what I’m trained to do and that’s what I want to do.”

"Good," Naxea grinned. "Do you have any questions?"

“Are there any training exercises planned? I’ve been out of circulation for a few years so I need to get my skills up-to-date.” She offered a smile. “I’ve no doubt I’m way behind everyone else.”

"Sure. Why don't you get with Sgt. Sohl in First Platoon," Naxea suggested. "They, along with Gunny Rhodes are scheduled for some close quarters training tomorrow morning at 0800."

“Yes ma’am” Heather smiled warmly. “Thank you.”

Naxea nodded. "Anytime. Also, remember that my door is always open should you require anything."

“I will thank you Major” Heather smiled warmly.

"You're dismissed, Sergeant," Naxea smiled back at the woman.

“Thank you Major” Heather nodded and headed on her way.
