Tavrus had just finished accepting a delivery from Lieutenant S'hib, and had sat the device he'd brought to him on the small table beside his bunk. When the doors parted with a distinctive hiss he turned. He knew it was bound to happen, and finally, he was going to get to meet the person he was going to be sharing the quarters with.

Standing there a bag in hand, was a tall blond human teenager. At 6f2, Triston towered over most of his friends but a glance told the science cadet, that the Cadet he was to share with would not be towered over. "Hi," he said to the other cadet. "I am Triston Montgomery, Science track, and your roommate." He stepped forward and held out his free hand to shake.

For the second time that day Tavrus found himself having to search his memory for the reason why someone was reaching out a hand, and, just as before, it took him a second or two. Finally, he reached out as well, with a sheepish expression on his face, and shook the offered hand. "Tavrus Saral, Intelligence Track," he replied.

"Cool," Triston placed his bag on the empty bunk. "Welcome to the Elysium as well," he added. "She is a big ship but you'll get used to her."

Tavrus took a moment to think back on the specifications of the Elysium, and then replied. "Thank you, but she is not the largest ship I have ever been on." He was sure there were going to be a lot of very surprised people on board the ship, most of them clueless that they now had an Ex-Drone as a member of the crew, but he had high hopes that he would be well received.

Triston merely nodded with a smile. "So intelligence track huh, sounds like you will be spending time with Lt Thornhill's group."

"Yes, so I've been told. I met with him not too long ago. He seems like a good officer to work with," Tavrus replied. "How long have you been aboard?"

Triston thought about it. "nearly 2 years now. Seems longer, but yeah 2 years since my parents got transferred here. I could have gone to Earth for the Academy, even did a tour of the campus but when Captain Lalor offered me the chance to stay here, I took it."

"I can't say I blame you. It seems like a pretty impressive ship, and so far the few people I've met have been very friendly," Tavrus replied. "Granted that could change going forward, but I can always hope, right?" he asked, half-jokingly.

Triston looked at him. "Unless you try to blow her up, the crew is like a family so do not worry,"

Tavrus chuckled at that. He felt a little more at ease after he had gotten a bit of talking in with his new roommate, and decided to let some of his guards down. "So, outside of science, what do you like to do for fun?" he asked, taking a seat on the end of his bed.

"I use the holodeck, sometimes I visit the ship's pool and then I hang out with my friends."

Pursing his lips Tavrus nodded, "Sounds like a few pretty good ways to pass the time." He had never been swimming, but he had heard of it. He was pretty sure he'd found ways to gain enough flexibility in his spine, but he hadn't really been brave enough yet to give it a try. The holodeck, on the other hand, he had spent many hours at the academy in the holodeck, and they had proved a very welcome diversion when he got super stressed out.

"There are a few mess halls around that cater to cadets as well, and you will find a number of the older school children hang out there as well" Triston replied.

Tavrus smiled. "It's so strange to think that those are truly my intellectual equals in many ways, despite the fact that I'm over one hundred years old..." he said, finding it ironically amusing.

"Hey everyone has to start somewhere." Triston grinned.

"How very true that is," Tavrus replied, and grinned in return. "Well, I won't keep you, I'm going to finish my unpacking and then maybe take a stroll around the vessel, get a bit more acquainted than one can with simple schematics. I'll see you around!"

"Sounds good" Triston replied and left him to it.
