Mission: SEASON 4: Episode 1: Know Thy Self!
Location: Station
Timeline: MD1- 1800
1265 words - 2.5 OF Standard Post Measure

Savar arrived on the station and there was no one else. He heard voices off in the distance but didn't see anyone. He knew Alicia was somewhere on the station as he could feel her presence, still he needed to find her. But where to begin the search? The station seemed huge with multiple levels.

He would start with this level and go from there.

*Hour later*

Savar still hadn't come across Alicia or any other of the Elysium crew. However he stopped in shock for there standing right before him was Heather but it wasn't the Heather he knew. This was the mirror universe Heather in her black uniform and she was looking right at him.

Heather stood arms folded as she stared at the Federation Officer in front of her, her orders were to observe and only interfere if necessary. Right now she was considering whether this Vulcan would make a good contender for the arena, she knew his counterpart in her universe was a loyal soldier he was cruel and sadistic when he needed to be but this man seemed the complete opposite. Her mind concentrated on his surface thoughts 'Alicia' seemed foremost on his mind.

"What are yo doing here? Have you come to gloat? To tell us it is useless to fight? If so then your time is wasted for we will never give up to an Empire as cruel as yours. An Empire that has removed all dignity and freedoms from the populace. Your Empire is evil to the very core." Savar stated with quiet defiance.

"You are right Vulcan" Heather looked around making sure she wouldn't be overheard by her own people. "The empire is cruel, but our history has followed a lot more of a bloody curve than yours! Women and children tortured until they break, men thrown into the arena to fight, rape, assault and forced companionship. You do what you must here just to survive!"

"I disagree. There is strength in numbers. You had the numbers to overthrow those who sought to control you. But instead you laid down and rolled over. You handed a few evil people the keys to the kingdom and the power as well." Savar replied coldly.

"I had no such choice!" Heather glared at the Vulcan officer. "I was just a teenager when the empire took me, I spent a lifetime in those agoniser booths!" She was trying her hardest to keep her emotions in check she didn't show weakness. "They broke me but I swore to myself that I'd get revenge, it's only a matter of time."

"Get revenge how? By treating others with the callousness and evil that you were treated with, Two wrongs do no make a right. I would have even someone in the service to the Empire would know that. Apparently not."Savar replied with obvious disdain.

"I will do what I must!" Heather gave Savar an unemotional glance, she'd learned many years ago how to bury her feelings when necessary.

Malak had been surprised to be found by a young andorian in black. He knew the Elysium had andorian officers but had no interaction with them. So when she had explained her story, to him and handed out the communicator, he had to believe her.

Now they crept closer to where a conversation was being had.

Neri placed a hand on his shoulder and held him back. Then, standing her head down she shuffled down to Heather.

"Lieutenant?" She said softly, submissively. "I bring word from the ship. Civilian Kavanagh has escaped the ship."

"Excellent" Heather nodded. "That will annoy Captain Taylor no end." She looked at Savar. "All our efforts are slowly coming to a head, we need people willing to fight are you willing to put aside your disdain for me to save your people?"

Savar looked between Neri and Heather. "You are part of the resistance." He stated. "Yes, I will help you fight and throw off the yoke of your oppression."

Heather nodded. "Be warned if I am discovered I will be instantly punished" she tapped her head. "All Betazoid's have a chip implanted it stops us from harming our masters. It blocks me from harming Captain Taylor so that's where your people come in." She paused. "There is one exception ... Your mirror self, I don't want him harmed."

May I ask why you make such a request?" Savar asked coolly.

Heather nodded. "Because he's my mate, we are bonded."

"Your mate?" Savar questioned but saw what he took for a look of honesty actually was. "Very well. No harm shall come to your mate."

Heather nodded respectfully. “Thank you.”

Malak now came forward. "Uh... Commander.. what is going on?" the federation Malak was dressed in jeans and tee shirt. He had been on the holodeck when the alert had been called so had gone to the cargo bay dressed as he was.

Neri looked at Heather. "He is the Fed." She said softly. "We have to find their command team."

Heather nodded. "That could be easier said than done. They are dispersed throughout this station, there are thousands of souls here." She paused to think. "They are traceable via their collars, but Captain Taylor is the only one with the command codes."

"What about bio signatures?" Malak asked. "That's how Neri here found me."

Neri bit her lip. "But that was because the tricorder was set for that."

"You plan on finding your people one at a time?" Heather gave Malak a look. "It would take too long, you would have barely anyone left to find. The dogs are only one way they reduce the population on this station, only the fittest survive here!"

"And those that remain are sold." Neri said in a low voice. She glanced at Heather. "Maybe we can find out where he is by using the vid link that they have set up for the federation captain."

"Vid Link?" Malak asked "Captain Lalor?"

Heather nodded. "So she can watch her people being tortured and killed. The Captain couldn't break her in the agony booth it was killing her, she's worthless to him dead so he had to find another way to try and break her." Heather sighed. "I'm not sure how long she'll hold out."

Neri pulled the tricorder from her pocket. "Maybe" she muttered "How long until hounds?"

“Not long enough!” Heather checked her chronometer. “You need to find somewhere safe to hold up, you can go down to the lower levels or up to the higher ones there are old offices there you can use. You’ll need to barricade yourselves in!” She looked around. “I have to be getting back.”

"Ma'am I will lead them further in and beam back if I can in time." Neri said.

Heather nodded. “Be careful, the dogs know no allies!”

"I will be. Good Luck Ma'am." Neri replied.

Malak frowned. "Can you rescue the captain?" He asked Heather as she prepared to leave.

“Not without the Captain’s command codes and he keeps those locked away in his private quarters where I can’t get to them. He has an elaborate alarm system set up in there, I don’t know how to get past it.” She sighed. “If it wasn’t for the chip in my head I could tear it out of his mind but the chip prevents me from harming him.”

Neri began heading off. "This way. We only have to stay shut in for the night cycle."

Heather nodded to Savar. “Be safe Commander.” With that she headed on her way.
