Mission: SEASON 4: Episode 1: Know Thy Self!
Location: Security Complex
1011 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Jessica was busy in the Security wardroom with a pile of equipment. She was building a subspace transmitter out some components she salvaged from consoles and other non-essential components.

"Well, we can use this on a very low band subspace signal. The problem is we'll have to keep the band tight to sidestep any subspace jamming. But I think we can get a message out. Maybe contact the fleet." Jess noted.

"Contact what Fleet?" Heather looked at Jess as she looked up from where she was sitting. We're stuck in their universe not ours! We don't even know who are allies here." She sighed. "It's a hopeless waste of time, we should be trying to locate our people and get them the hell out!"

"Heather." Fernando said softly. "We have to try and even if we can't contact our fleet. We can find someone who might fight with us to overthrow this Empire."

Heather looked at her husband. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound so negative." She sighed and looked at Jess. "Sorry Jess." She looked back at Fernando. "Do you even know who I am here? I heard about her ... She's an inquisitor and not just any inquisitor! She's Captain Taylor's lap dog!!"

"I don't care about her Heather. It is you I love and care about. It is you I will protect from all harm. Not your evil copy. She means nothing to me. Do not even trouble yourself thinking about her." Fernando replied taking Heather's hand and giving it a squeeze.

Jessica nodded. "No matter how hopeless it is... We will take every chance we can get, and the next, and the next. Until we get our crew, our family back." She activated the transmitter.

"Mayday, Mayday. This is the Federation Starship USS Elysium, transmitting a general distress signal. Our ship has been seized and boarded by the Terran Empire, and our crew is being tortured and enslaved. This is Lieutenant Commander Jessica Vaii. We're requesting reinforcements from Starfleet Command. And if anyone out there hates these Terrans as much as we do, we need your help. Goddesses, don't make me beg. Setting Message to Repeat.

Mayday, Mayday. This is the Federation Starship USS Elysium....

"Fernando" Heather motioned to her husband to walk with her. "I'm worried about Alicia, last time I saw her I sensed a ... Duality about her. There's only one thing that causes such a sense, I think she's pregnant! I didn't have chance to talk to her about coming in for a scan. These conditions are hard enough for us, can you imagine what it must be like on that station? I'm afraid for her."

Pregnant? That's great! Um I mean it would be great if she wasn't on the station and we weren't here. You know what I mean. It's imperative we find Alicia and get her off the station and back with Savar. Do we know where he is?" Fernando asked.

Heather shook her head. "No clue, over there I'm guessing and there's no easy way of finding either of them or any of our people."

Jess spoke. "We might be getting a little ahead of ourselves, but the longer our crew remains in captivity, the less crew we'll have to rescue. Believe me, I was a slave once... to my mother." Jess mentioned. "I will die before that happens to me again. I'd rather live the hard life of a warrior than to ever surrender again." Jess noted. "That's where I get my callsign from."

Heather nodded. "We have to find a way, we can't just wait for possible allies to come out of the woodwork we need to do something now!"

"Maybe that might work." Jessica noted. "They're probably overconfident by now. Prideful believing they've defeated us. I think we need to do something different; We go on the offensive and board that station, and I think I know how too."

"What have you got in mind?" Fernando asked.

"They'll have the transporter rooms and the docks secured. But they're not expecting an attack from the airlocks. Do you remember Zero-G Combat training? Because we're penetrating the station from the outside." Jess mentioned.

Heather groaned. "I hate Zero-G! It's the one part of marine training I used to dread." She looked at her husband. "I'm not cleared on Zero-G I didn't get chance to complete my training."

Jess spoke. "You don't need to, because the both of you will be tethered to me. I do Apollo Simulations and Gemini spacewalks for fun. All you need to do is relax, and I'll get both of you onboard. What do you think, Man'darr? It's this or we end up fighting the way they expect us to attack from."

"Heather, it will be alright. I will be there as will Jess. You will be safe." Fernando told his wife. While silently hoping he was right.

"I make this promise to all on my squadron. Stick close to me, trust me, and you'll make it." Jess reassured.

Heather nodded. "I'll do it, I'm not much of a marine if I don't. We have to get our people out and if it disrupts things over there by playing hit and run so much the better."

"All of you. This may be our last mission. We must make it over there, with enough weapons to get some of our people armed for a proper resistance. Like the 300 at Thermopylae, this may be our last battle. If so..." Jessica saluted everyone in the room. "It has been an honor to serve with all of you."

Man'darr groaned. "I hate zero-G." His mind went to his CO, Major Azhul, but he knew she could handle herself. She was one of the fiercest fighters he had seen in Starfleet and was likely giving the intruders more than they could handle.

Jessica spoke. "Man'darr... Trust me, as I've trusted you." Jess smiled at him as she held out her hand.

Jess' hand seems to disappear in Man'darr's huge hand. "Of course I trust you. Let's get this over with."
