Viceroy Arrianna entered the Ready Room with her new assistant Josephine. She was carrying with her a wide variety of 'truth serums' but it was actually medications to help Phoenix. "I understand you are having problems trying to break an egg and make an omelet. Care to let me try my expert hand? I'm good at making omelets, as I intend the services I'm providing you to be of the highest caliber."
Gary glanced up at the interruption. "And just who did you hear that from?" He challenged. Then without waiting for a reply he waved his hand. "Go ahead, try your hand with our guest. She's still hanging in the agonizer chamber. Do not take her down." He ordered.
Arri entered the room with the agonizer chamber. A part of her wanted to run up and take Phoenix into her arms and hold her in her arms. But she could not break her cover even the slightest. She had to keep on extruding the Viceroy's hideous thoughts so that Gary's mistress would not pick up on their deception, which was particularly easy now. Mirror Arrianna had a particular habit of pushing the Inquisitors out of hers and her protégé's minds
"Greetings, Phoenix Lalor..." Arrianna spoke in her double's arrogant voice. "I see your host has been gracious, indeed."
Phoenix's response was to curse at her in Erisian. And it didn't sound nice. "Im estel i fires -o udún narv- cín faer!"
"Ah dear Phoenix Lalor. You would save yourself a great deal of trouble by cooperating. Your ship is ours, your crew has been enslaved, just like poor Arrianna... Some are still resisting of course. It's fun watching them squirm, and it can entertain me for hours on end." Arri noted. "She resisted the longest. Her loyalty to you was admirable. But now she serves me.... There's nothing left of her now but a defeated... hollow... shell. They are so pitiful, believing they could resist the Terran Empire." Arrianna mentioned. "Now I get to do the same to you, as I did to poor Arrianna." If Phoenix was listening, she just gave her a status report.
She was listening but she covered it well enough with another Erisian curse "Cin baur na bel- slowlui a in naeg!"
Arrianna picked up an injector. "These are fascinating Captain. One vial, could break a Klingon in twenty four hours. And they won't even harm the goods or decrease the sale value on a slave. You are about to experience the most pain a sentient creature has ever experienced. Take comfort in knowing your dear child will not experience such torture. I'm not crude like the horse-freak was." Arrianna plunged the syringe into Phoenix. But it was not causing pain. Instead it was easing it.
*Scream....* Phoenix suddenly received a thought. *Scream, or he'll get suspicious.*
Phoenix reacted instantly with a scream that could have broken glass.
Josie, stood in silence her eyes front, being a good little slave/assistant.
Arri flipped open a medical tricorder to scan Phoenix. This was not good. Fortunately her child was not in pain. It appeared like Arrianna was contemplating another means of torture. She was actually treating Phoenix. "Oh this is only the beginning, Captain. I hear there is a pathetic resistance onboard your ship, and it's about to be crushed." Arri injected Phoenix again. It was something to keep her child healthy until she could be rescued.
*Captain. I've done what I can. I have to minimize my use of this type of communication, and I'm doing my utmost to deceive his telepaths. They will pay dearly for this, soon.*
"Oh and that other serum I just gave you... In twenty-four hours it will make you just like Arrianna. You'll willingly tell us everything we ask for. Then you will stand next to her and hail the Terran Empire when I rebuild you and Arrianna from nothing. She's in stasis on my ship, and I can't say the poor girl is alive anymore, nor is she dead." She chuckled evily. "She tried so hard to resist. Her last thoughts were on her dear crew and friends before she vanished into nothingness." Arri noted. "Stop resisting, Captain. There's literally nothing left for you to live for. Sooner or later, I'll send Arrianna in here to torture you. Yes, she's a new person now." Arri smiled wickedly.
By the gods, this woman was good. *Just get everyone else out* She thought over and over again, hoping Arri could hear her.
She raised her head and glared at them. "You will die. Painfully. I will watch it happen and laugh and toast with champagne when it happens" she swore.
"You'd drink alcohol while pregnant? You truly do not deserve to be a mother. Ponder your final worthless thoughts while you still have sentience." Arrianna stood and nodded to Josephine. Leaving the torture room. She smiled at Gary. "She will cooperate eventually She'll tell you everything you need to know, and guess what; she'll do it willingly, and she'll hail the Terran Empire on top of that... In front of her crew tomorrow." If there was one thing about Mirror Arrianna, It was the level of pure malice in her. But this was not Mirror Arrianna. Still Arri took what she needed from her double. She could be her, as long as she needed."
Gary watched as what he thought Mirror Arri dealt with Phoenix. When she was done, He nodded his approval. "Very good. I commend you on your handling of a most difficult subject." He praised Arri.
Arri turned. "Oh and one thing... There's two kinds of people in this universe. Those who serve money, and those who serve their ambitions. Those who serve money, you'll always know which side they're on as long as you keep on paying them. People who serve ambition however. They will love you one day... and kill you the next. I offer this advise for your consideration, Captain."
Josie moved past them both and headed back towards the ship Arriana's double had. She didn't speak or show any interest in anything but doing as ordered.
"I shall keep that in mind." Gary promised.
"It has been a pleasure doing business with you." Arrianna turned and left the room. As she walked she gave a smile. She had planted the seeds of suspicion and paranoia into Gary's mind. Little seeds... but nurtured in a garden of betrayal and ambition. Now, she just had to water the garden now.
