Aut Augere Aut Mori

Mission: Season 4: Episode 2: Rest And Relaxation
Location: Engineering Lab
Timeline: Current
1692 words - 3.4 OF Standard Post Measure

Arianna being the Chief Science Officer, she often deals with sensors, scanning, and so forth. If the visitor from the future would have done a extensive research on the Elysium, she would have know the ship is the only one in the Fleet to pick up Quantum Readings at a small level. But then Arianna may have kept it out of historical data.

Victor was in Engineering Lab doing routine tasks. The door slides open as Commander Arianna walks in. Victor stood up respecting her rank as he always respected rank like royalty.

"Commander," Victor said standing up. "How may I help you."

Arri spoke. "I see you had a visitor." She referred indirectly to Addison's arrival and shook her head. "I have half the mind to write a letter to your visitor reminding her that even with the most advanced computers known, even my people cannot predict time travel. She's being reckless."

"Contacting someone in the twenty-ninth century might be hard," Victor replied. "I only know that because it was not the first time I met her. Captain Addison Blaire is the captain of the USS Relativity. Apparently I almost invented something that would have the change the timeline. Lara said something and I wanted to see if it was possible. Apparently it is possible but it will be years before it is invented."

Arrianna smriked. "It's simple Lieutenant. All I have to do is send the letter to multiple Federation and Non-Affiliated archives and eventually I forsee a seventy-eight point six degree probability Captain Blaire will note a five hundred year old protest telling her not to take sojourns like this lightly." She noted. "That being said, I took Lara as my protégé because I want to do more than simply teach her science and technology. I plan on taking her to the many worlds the Elysium will visit. She has an incredible mind. Perhaps even more potent than mine, or even Tonya's mind. If she understands how to wield her intelligence, she will either become the next Zefram Cochrane or Richard Daystrom... Or perhaps the next Khan Noonien Singh." Arri noted as she typed out an official protest that was to be delivered to Captain Addison Blaire through multiple means nine hundred years from now. "Genius and madness are often two sides of the same coin."

"All of this would not have had happen if that assassin from the future would not have to come to the present to try to kill her son Romulan Commander Zodok which caused the assassin to drop his communication badge which Lara picked up only to have Captain Blaire to take it back. She is just tying up loose ends," Victor replies.

Arri sighed and nodded. "And here we are attempting to mitigate the convergences in the timeline. I've sent some of Lara's data to the Scholar's college. They believe another convergeance will happen soon. One week, maybe two."

"Yes because I have a feeling I kind what she did," Victor says. "If my theory is right and I do feel it is, what happened will show up in the next convergence. Lara is doing due diligence to be prepared in case the Relativity fails on the convergence. She is working with Lt. McKay in hypothetical models. The communication badge from the future like me has Temporal Immunity. So when the time line is corrected in a few weeks, what was in the other timeline will show up in this one."

Arri also spoke. "I'm hoping my people won't suddenly vanish one day." Arri noted. "I'm hoping I won't go to bed one evening, and wake up in the morning as a slave to the collective." Arri noted.

"That would only happen if the original time line, that was the case," Victor surmise. "I believe Lara created a life that could self-replicate with nanites in them. The communication badge from the future had nanites because that is what Captain Blaire implied. Imagine an android that can change shapes. Lara in the future probably did not realized it but I feel that is what she did."

Arri paced and thought a moment. "I wonder, Victor... We survived because the last known Althir, two centuries ago, united us during the Searing. She ordered all into transports and for us to escape into the nebula of the lost... I often wondered how the Borg could miss one princess who was twenty-ninth in line." She mentioned.

"Same way how they ignored me when Calhoun and I snuck on a cube one time," Victor replies. "We were insignificant. There was a shuttle they brought in, we hid in the cargo haul. We walked around the cube and we were not even noticed. I followed Calhoun's lead. I have faith in you and the Captain."

"They underestimate us." Arri noted. "Do not underestimate the Alindari." She mentioned.

"I know," Victor winks, "That is your secret weapon. When I fenced Academically, I often won because people underestimated me because I acted mild mannered. So in the match, I did my croup de grace to win the match."

Another Engineer walked in to the lab who was new to ship. "Commander Arianna Salannis an Vantar meet Ensign Napoleon Bond. Napoleon, this is the Chief of Science. Arianna, Napoleon's specialty is Communications and Computer Engineering. "

Arrianna was studying readouts of a nearby Main Sequence Star on the verge of transitioning into a giant. "A pleasure. I wish I could study a fusion transition." She said to herself.

"Napoleon was on the Izar," Victor says, "I asked the Captain if he could be transfer here send she kindly obliged. Napoleon has skill sets that will come in handy."

Arri turned around still sitting in her chair in the Astrometrics Lab. "Indeed." She mentioned. "Computer Engineering? Does he have any interest in Cybernetics?" Arri mentioned.

"Yes like all fresh ones out of the Academy," Victor shrugs. "Statistically 98 percent of the ones out of the Academy who have interest in cybernetics as a side project eventually gives in Starfleet rules where they abandon it. At least that was the statistics where I come from. Most of the remaining two percent get recruited by Starfleet so they can keep an eye on them. So less that a tenth of one percent develop something on their own. Be my guest to keep his interests up. And by the way, when I say cybernetics, I am referring to androids, not the mechanical ones we keep in Engineering to do work we can not do."

Arri shook her head. "One of these days, We're going to defeat the Borg, just to recreate it later AS a side project."

"The Borg were created because some Federation officers were thrown back in time with a Caeliar going rogue creating the Borg out of survival which cause the one that created them to become intoxicated with power," Victor smiles.

Napoleon hearing all of this, "What the hell Sir. How do you know all of this?"

Victor by now had grown tired of telling them about the other Reality. "Privilege information and if you are thinking I am with Intelligence, I am not."

"I think we have enough cybernetics projects here," Arri stated moving to the Replicator to get some tea.

"So Sir," Napoleon says, "What Project are we going to work on."

"Have one in mind but I have to get the go ahead from that from Arianna, The XO or The Captain," Victor says in a patient voice. "Keep in mind, what I am going to propose is we will do bit by bit. Napoleon, we need some Steinmetz batteries. You will find them in the Engineering Station."

"Understood," Napoleon says he left to go get them.

After he left, Victor asks Arianna, "So what do you think. Should we approve the communication badge?"

Arri smirked. "Don't do anything that would require... Addison... To Visit me?" The Second Officer noted. "I'm already annoyed by her use of time travel. I just put a ten page letter to her in the Federation archives, to be delivered in five hundred years, berating her constructively." It was no secret that Arri was not fond of the time police. Then again, no Alindari would like them, as they did not favor things that were found outside of reason.

"Think you might like her if you get to know her," Victor says smiling. "She was recruited by the people from the future is a long story. I will be glad to tell you one day but know the reason why she contacted me on cases because of my Immunity. She knew that one day the timeline will be corrected, so it was logical for her to recruit my sister or I when the fabric of time were going to be unraveled. Reckless Commander is to do nothing. Aut Augere Aut Mori."

Speaking of mottos. I have just the one for the Alindari. "The Imperium stands for all, and all stands for the Imperium."

"Amen," Victor replies in earnest. "So what we will do on the badge I want to design, I will only do what I have been thinking for a long time doing. So phase one, you want a holographic images to appear, tricorder in it or off the top which might be extreme is a Holographic Engineer in my case or a Holographic Science Officer in yours."

Arri spoke. "Victor..." She noted. "We need to put care into this. We are walking down a road that we may not be able to turn away from. For now, we keep the technology here on the Elysium." She mentioned. "I want to see how this situation develops, Victor. Before we take anything to the next level."

"Understood," Victor replies. "I say tricorders depending on each one's position. Medical tricorder for medical personnel only, Quantum tricorder for only those who understand Quantum Physics who are Science Officers and so forth. You would not want a Veterinarian analyzing Quantum Data. This of course will have to include holographic images."

Arri had to have time to think on Victor's unique creative ideas before agreeing to Phase One.
