Heather arrived for her shortened shift in Sickbay, she'd had a rough night feeling uncomfortable. This morning she'd woken with a fair headache, which she put down to the lack of sleep. She'd eaten breakfast but was now feeling pretty nauseous which made her wonder if she was coming down with something. It was when her vision started to blur that the symptoms started to make sense, she managed to navigate across to Sthilg's office peering around the door. "Excuse me Doctor, I..." Moments later her head spun and she was out cold before she hit the floor.

Seeing the drama unfolding Emily, who was working nearby, ran toward Heather managing to catch the falling, heavily pregnant female before her head hit the floor. She looked up at Sthilg in both shock and surprise.

Sthilg was at her side in seconds. " Let's get her on a biobed. " He said to Emily as his artificial arm began ruining a scan.

"Yes doctor" Emily nodded and motioned to some nearby staff to help move Heather. Moments later she was lying on a nearby biobed. "Look at that!" Emily pointed to Heather's blood pressure reading. "No wonder she collapsed, it's sky high!"

" Get me a ssshot of Atracutora. " The gorn doctor said calmly.

Emily nodded and headed quickly over to the equipment tray and loaded a hypospray. Returning she handed it to Sthilg.

The gorn injected the medicine and was relieved that Heather's blood pressure started dropping.

Heather slowly started to stir, opening her eyes she covered them over the light a little bright making her thumping headache worse.

" Easssy." The old doctor said as he lowered the light. " You nearly had a nasssty tumble my dear."

Heather nodded looking to Sthilg as she took her hand away from her eyes. “I was... just coming to tell you that I wasn’t feeling well.” She paused. “It’s pre-eclampsia isn’t it?” One of the hazards of being a Nurse was you realised all too well what symptoms could be.

The gorn nodded. " Which is why i want you to lean back and relax," he said calmly.

Heather nodded. She knew the seriousness of her condition, if not caught in time it could cost the lives of both child and mother. Up until now she'd been fine. "Is the baby alright?"

The gorn gave a warm smile. " The baby isss fine my dear. We'll need to keep both of you monitored for now."

Heather nodded. “My head is still pounding so I guess I’m an in patient for a while?”

The gorn nodded. " I'll have sssome pillows brought over and have sssomeone inform Fernando. Would you like sssomething to drink," he added.

“Please” Heather nodded. “A chilled water would be lovely.”

“I’ll get that, and then I’ll call Fernando for you” Emily smiled as she looked at Sthilg.

" Good now lay back and relax while i run a few ssscansss." The old doctor responded as he typed away.

Walking over to the replicator she soon returned with a glass of chilled water, placing it down she smiled at Heather then headed to the nurses office to call Fernando. =^= Sickbay to Chief De La Rosa, Just to let you know your wife has been admitted. She’s fine but she’d like to see you. =^=

=^= What?! I'm on my way!=^= Fernando replied as he closed the connection without saying another word.

Walking back into Sickbay Emily walked over to Heather. “Your husband is on his way.”

Heather nodded. “Thank you Emily, I appreciate your help.”

Fernando entered Sickbay like he had been shot out of a canon. He spotted Heather instantly and made a beeline to her. "Heather! What is it? What's wrong?" he asked firing off the questions rapidly.

Heather opened her mouth to speak suddenly perplexed as to how to explain to her own husband. “I wasn’t feeling well, I passed out.” She paused. “I have pre-eclampsia, it’s a... condition that affects some pregnant women it is serious but it’s been caught early enough, with bed rest I’ll be okay.”

"Serious? Fernando repeated, concern filling his features and his voice. "What do you mean serious? How serious Heather?"

Heather was strangely uncomfortable answering the question. “If not caught and treated, or if the treatment doesn’t work... worst case scenario, it can be fatal.”

She took hold of Fernando’s hand. “I’m feeling better already, but I have to stay in Sickbay for now.”

Fernando was quite observant and he noticed Heather's uncomfortableness. "Heather, what is wrong? I'm your husband not some stranger. Why are you acting like you are?"

Heather gave her husband an unhappy glance. “I’m a nurse Fernando! Yet I’m struggling to explain this to you! And I’m... scared!!”

"Ah. Now we get the real reason." Fernando replied as he first kissed Heather's hand and then leaned forward and kissed her on her lips. " I can understand you being uneasy Heather but you have the finest doctors and doctors one can find anywhere. Nothing is going to happen to you or the baby." Fernando replied.

Heather breathed a sigh of relief that Fernando understood. “I know, I trust Sthilg and the rest of the staff here to take care of me, I just wasn’t expecting this.”'

"Neither was I my love but it is a bump in the road. We will get through this together." Fernando assured her.

Heather nodded and smiled, looking up as Sthilg’s large shadow fell over them both.

" Ssshe'sss going to be fine Fernando. " The doctor responded placing a reassuring hand on the man's shoulder.

Fernando nodded gratefully at the CMO's soothing words. "Thank you Doctor, I know she and the baby are in the best possible hands and you and your staff will keep Heather and the baby from any harm."
