Having been beamed straight to quarantine aboard ship, Leilani was busy changing from her damaged suit into Sickbay scrubs as dropped into the feeder shoot for the cell by Emily. “Thanks Emily” Leilani smiled. “I probably don’t even need to be in here, but I understand the need for safety given the nature of what happened on that planet all those years ago.”

“I can’t even imagine what it must have been like down there” Emily shook her head. “All those poor people.” She offered a smile as Sthilg entered the area. “I’ll go give George a call, let him know what’s going on.”

Sthilg looked tired with heavy bags under his eyes from the mess they'd had to deal with. Still, his eyes were sharp as he looked over Leilani. " Any coughing fit's or shortness of breath." He inquired as he began running a scan.

Leilani shook her head, “No none, just a sneeze earlier but that was only once. I was given a booster on the surface when I damaged my suit.”

" That's good. When it struck my village you'd have been showing symptoms by now which is a good sign. " the lizard replied giving her a warm smile.

Leilani smiled. “I’m glad I’m not. Did samples from the planet show whether the disease is still living or not?”

The gorn gave her a warm smile. " From what we can sssee the virusss died out fourty yearsss ago after it mutated to infect the ferengi. "

Leilani breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank heavens for that, I’m guessing that I’m still stuck in here for observation for a while just incase?”

The gorn nooded. " A week or two at the leassst. Would you like me to get anything?" He said with a warm smile.

“A week or two!!” Leilani gave Sthilg a surprised look. “Are you serious!? Naxea is going to kill me for being away from my duties for so long!” She sighed. “I’d like to see George, and Hendor if possible?”

" I am deadly ssseriousss my dear. You've ssseen what it did to my home. I will not risssk that thing breaking out on my home." The gorn explained calmly his face showing how serious he was. " I will allow you to sssee George and Hendor."

Leilani nodded. “I’ve got no complaints doctor, I will abide by your rules. I’m a Medic I know how important this quarantine is.” She offered a smile. “Guess I’m going to need some fresh clothes, and some things from home.

" I'll make sssure there all sssent down." The doctor replied warmly.


Meanwhile Emily was calling her brother. =^= Sickbay to Lieutenant Charles, are you available to talk? =^=

Down in their quarters, George was just putting Hendor down for a nap, when his commbadge, which was in the other room, chirped. After he closed Hendor’s door, he moved to collect it and then sat down at his desk and opened the channel. "Hey, Emm," he said with a grin. "What's up that you're being all official with a vid call?"

=^= Hi George =^= Emily smiled at her brother. =^= I thought I’d let you know that Leilani is in quarantine. It’s nothing to worry about, just precautionary. =^=

Even though he heard his sister say that it was just precautionary, George still dropped the smile and turned serious. "Emm, don't sugercoat it for me. I'm your brother. Tell me what happened." He tried to reach out to Leilani mentally, but was getting nothing. "I can't hear her mind, Emm!" He fought to keep his voice down, so as not to wake Hendor.

“Breath George...” Emily offered a calming demeanour. “Lani’s suit was slightly damaged while on the planet, it resealed as it was supposed to, but she was exposed. She’s in good health, Sthilg is with her now running some scans. I don’t know why you’re not hearing her though, maybe she just doesn’t want you to worry.”

"I'm coming down there!" George stood up. Not hearing his wife's thoughts was starting to scare him. He quickly shut down the computer and activated the holonanny for Hendor. Then, taking a last long look at their son, he wanted to be able to give the image to Leilani when he saw her.

He then left their quarters and ran to the nearest turbolift. The trip to the isolation chamber felt interminable but, finally, he reached the outer office. He told the duty nurse who he was and that his wife was in the isolation chamber and he had to see her.

“George” Emily smiled as she greeted her brother. “Come with me, I’ll take you to Leilani." Leading him to where Lani and Sthilg were, she offered a warm smile. “Look who came to see you.”

George was a bundle of emotions. He still couldn't read Leilani. Finally! There she was! Locked inside an isolation chamber, but, there she was! Georgemoved right up to the transparent aluminum seperating them and placed his hand up on it. He then activated the intercom. "Imzadi!! Are you alright?! I...I can't hear you mind!"

Leilani placed her hand on the cell window. “I’m fine Imzadi, it’s so good to see you. I’m sorry! I was so busy blocking out my own worries I didn’t realise I was blocking you from picking up on me. Please forgive me?”

A tear fell from his right eye as he smiled. "Of course I do! You're the mother of our children, afterall! Tell me, please, what happened?!"

Lani nodded. “I was with the team at the hospital, I was exploring the area when I fell. My suit was torn on some debris, it sealed itself but not before I was exposed to the atmosphere.” She paused to stifle a sneeze, which didn’t really work as she sneezed anyway. “Excuse me” She looked towards Sthilg. “I was saying about sneezing...”

George looked over to Sthilg, concern anew in his face. "Doc? Are your scans reading anything negative in her system?!"

The lizard ran another scan over her his white eyes focused on the scanner. A sense of relief spread over his face. " Well congratulationsss Leilani you've become the firssst Betazoid/Trill to contract gorn flu. " He said heading into the quarantine bays medicle lab.

Leilani looked at George curiously. “Gorn flu? I didn’t even know the Gorn caught colds.” She stifled another sneeze. “I feel fine so far, apart from the sneezing.”

George felt utterly powerless to protect his wife at the moment. "Doc," he started, concern heavy in his voice. "Should we be worried? Will this effect her new womb?"

" Highly doubtful, but i'd like to get her cured in cassse it mutatesss." the gorn said from his workbench as he brought up the cure that the gorn had built. He'd need to alter it slightly.

Emily was keeping an eye on the readings coming from the quarantine cell sensors. “How are you feeling?” She looked at the temperature readouts. “Looks like your core temperature has elevated a little in the last few minutes.”

Leilani nodded. “I’m a little warm but nothing I can’t handle. I’ll admit I haven’t had a cold since....” she paused to think. “Well since...never!” She shrugged her shoulders. “I guess having flu will be a whole new experience.” She grinned as she sat down on her bed. “I’m sorry Imzadi I’m going to be stuck here for a couple of weeks or so, Sthilg wants to be safe.”

George took in everything he heard. It helped that no one seemed overly concerned. He was still upset that he'd be physically seperated from Leilani for a couple weeks. Sighing quietly, he finally nodded to Leilani. "Whatever it takes for you to come home healthy and safe." Your two men will keep the fort safe and ready for your return, Imzadi.

Leilani could feel George’s disappointment which made her feel guilty for not being more careful whilst on the surface. “I’m sorry Imzadi, this is my fault. I should have been more careful.”

George took a breath and tried to calm down. He then replied, "I'm sure you were, my love. Away missions can be dangerous. I doubt you were doing anything other than movibg about as carefully as possible." He sent over several warm, loving images to her, to help soothe her feelings of guilt. I love you, Imzadi.

Leilani smiled and nodded. I love you too George

George looked over at Sthilg. "So, what are the next steps her, Doc?"

" I need to alter the gorn cure so that it will work with mammalsss. Jussst give me a ssshort while." The doctor said from his machine.

George nodded, then looked back into his wife's deep eyes. You did this on purpose, He smirked playfully at her. To see if I'd devour you after you come home. Rest assured, I will, Imzadi.

Leilani smiled the biggest smile yet. Ohh I will look forward to that Imzadi.

Feeling Hendor’s slumbering mind start to stir, George frowned slightly. "I hate to go, but, I think Hendor is starting to wake from his nap early. I'll being him down in a little while, let you get situated first, yeah?"

Leilani nodded. “Okay Imzadi, tell him I’m sorry I’m not there.” She hung her head unhappily at the thought of being shut up away from her family for 2 weeks. “Tell him I love him, and I love you too.”

I will, my beautiful, courageous, intelligent, sexy wife. He reached out and pressed his hand against the viewport surface. "I love you, Imzadi."

Leilani mirrored his gesture, placing her hand to his on the other side of the surface. “Go, look after our son. I’ll be fine.”

George placed his forehead against the viewport. "You better be, my love. I'm not done with you yet, not by a long shot." He grinned and sent a few descriptive images to her. Then, he straightened up. "I'll go get Hendor cleaned up, tell him what's going on, and we will be be later, before bedtime. I love you."

“Love you too” Leilani grinned.

George smiled again. Then, reluctantly, he turned and left sickbay.

Watching her husband go, Lani made her way across to the biobed and sat down. She was starting to feel the effects of the Gorn flu kicking in, and she was feeling pretty rough.

“I thought as much” Emily entered in a protective suit, bringing over a warm fleecy blanket and a soft pillow. “Here, this will keep you warm and comfortable.” She placed the pillow down under Lani’s head and put the cover over her. “There you go, now just lie there and rest. Let me know if you need anything okay?”

Lani nodded. “Thank you Emily.”
