Sickbay was as it always was it's miraculously clean state that would make it the envy of any medical facility in the know galaxy. . It's chief MD would have it no other way especially with his guest present. N’Vea sat nestled against her grandfather the small girl fast asleep in his arm as he ran the scanner over her. The lizard wondered if the little girl knew how safe she was. That her grandfather would never let anything happen to her and if anyone in the galaxy tried the old ones themselves would need to hold him back from hurting those who had tried.
His ears picked up a familiar yet strange yet familiar sound. One that he hadn't heard off in quite a while. The sound of hoves.
" I'll be out in a sssecond Sss'hib." The lizard called as he gently placed the girl back in her basket before placing it on his desk. After placing his monitoring device on the desk to keep an ear on her he stepped out into the sickbay bright light.
His eyes fell on the Sequus's though on the one in the fedration uniform especially. " Sss'hib by boy it'sss good to sssee you again. " He called out softly.
"Red sands blessings to you as well," S'hib replied as he clicked further inside sickbay, trotting over to Sthilg and for the first time, placing his hands on the good doctor's shoulders. "You look well, have you recently shed?" he asked in a teasing manner before thumping his forehead against the gorns scaled brow, leaving An'Dalus and T'handu standing in the doorway, most perplexed at the sight.
" You could sssay ssso." Sthilg said beaming. " I'm a grandfather now. N'Vea keeping her grandfather busy. Who are your friendsss? "the lizard inquired looking over at the other Sequus.
"Grandfather?" S'hib remarked as he leaned back, hoofed digits still firmly gripping Sthilg's shoulders. "Sometimes I forget just how old you are..." He added with an air of mock jealously. "Ambassador An'Dalus," S'hib continued as he turned to face the other two, transferring his right hand to Sthilg's back as he extended his left out towards Anne.
"This is the good Doctor Sthilg, he will be conducting our annual physical... T'han you can also relax," He snorted, glancing over at the young Stal, recognising the look on his face and the tense grip on his phase staff. "I'm the assistant chief of security, if I didn't already owe and trust this man with my life I wouldn't have brought your Priestess here."
"He's a predator..." T'han spat, gripping his staff even more and threatening to level it into an aggressive stance.
The loud shrieking neigh S'hib made in response was something nobody on the Elysium had heard before, and clearly took T'han by surprise too as S'hib thumped his way over and squared right up with the somewhat younger Sequus male and began speaking in Native Sequus.
"Sovereign or not, the safety of the Ambassador is my responsibility aboard this ship," S'hib barked, his tone amplifying the already aggressive sounding language his people used. "Not yours!"
he added while pressing the ridge of his flat equine face against T'han, the loud thump of skulls being clearly heard.
"But, I..." T'han stuttered, somewhat perplexed that Anne was simply standing by and watching with a very neutral expression upon her face.
"Shut up, you are not on Sequella anymore, you will keep your antiquated and xenophobic opinions to yourself." S'hib snorted deeply before backing away to calm down, bowing respectfully to Anne before readjusting his uniform.
"Idiot boy." Anne snorted in native Sequus, two simple words that seemed to crush the young Sequus, deflating his posture as she marched off towards Sthilg.
"Doctor Sthilg, S'hib had told me so much about you on our trip here..." She said politely, entirely ignoring the events that just transpired.
" All pleasssant I trussst. Sss'hib is a credit to his ssspeciesss and to the fedration. I hope you don't have any more requesting asssking me how the librariansss of my people managed to sssteal Sss'hib'sss book." the doctor replied calmly. He had sent a mental foolish boy to this T'han.
A flash of light appeared as Snow beamed in. " Doctor Sthilg is everything okay? " The small robot asked.
"Everything fine my boy." The doctor called to the small machine.
"Book?" Anne questioned with a raised brow as she turned back to S'hib.
"That is a very long story Ambassador, one I will be discussing with you at some point... alone." S'hib quickly interjected as he moved up to her side.
"Hmm, very well..." She replied, somewhat unamused at the cryptic answer he gave her. "Shall we get this over with then?" Anne added, rubbing her hands down her stomach and smoothing out her coat.
" Off courssse. If you follow me we can get you ssseen to. " He said leading the way to one of the operating theatre. " Due to your ssspeciesss very tall frame, we'll need to use the surgical biobed. I hope that isss acceptable."
Anne nodded politely before turning and snapping her hooved fingers, scowling as T'han hurriedly clicked his way over. "Get on that bed." She snorted, snatching the staff away from him and handing it over to S'hib without even looking.
"So what's with the floating tricorder." S'hib remarked, glancing over at Snow as T'han awkwardly laid his naked Sequus frame on the operating bed, jewellery and dusty body paint brushing against its surface, clinking and leaving marks.
"Ensssign Sssnow is one fo the new nurssses. He has proven a valuable addition to the crew." Sthilg explained as the exocom gave a friendly bleep.
Said Exocom flew over to the tables computer monitor and started the machine running. " Scan started doctor."
"I see..." S'hib snorted, going to fold his arms before remembering he was holding T'hans staff. "So how do I get one?" He quipped as T'han laid deathly still on the biobed.
The exocom turned to look at the security officer. " My species is fully sentient lieutenant. I am an enlisted member of star fleet. " he said in his robotic voice.
"It's Commander actually..." S'hib snorted in response.
" Ssstop it the pair of you." Sthilg hissed. " Snow go and keep an eye on N’Vea."
The exocom beeped and vanished from the room. " Now T'handu you've certainly been in a ssscrap or two in your life. Are any of these injuries giving you any trouble?" Sthilg inquired.
T'han looked positively terrified after the hissing sound Sthilg made but still managed to sputter out a response. "No, the injuries have long since healed... most of them occurred when I was very young."
"Sovereigns are trained from birth, Doctor..." Anne snorted in response, leaning in curiously to examine the bed she would soon be laying upon. "A few broken bones builds character." She added sounding somewhat proud.
" My father sssaid the sssame thing." The gorn chuckled in reply. " Wonder what he'd think of the peciesss of me that I've left on the variousss planetsss. " Well, everything looking good. Vitamin c levelsss are rather low, but not dangerous levels. " the gorn said to T'han.
"That's to be expected," Anne remarked to Sthilg, moving around to the otherside of the biobed as T'han got back onto his hooves. "He's been fasting as well as myself... though I'm sure once we start sampling all the strange and exotic dishes on your database we will soon plump up a bit..."
" I'll sssend him sssome dissshesss high in vitamin c." The lizard said as he helped her onto the bio bed. " Any complaintsss or injuriesss I need to be aware off?"
"Nothing I can't treat myself, a few achy bones... nothing more." She said pleasantly as she got comfortable, smoothing down the plume of hair on her chest before resting her hands on her stomach.
"How are you finding a federation vessssle?" The doctor asked as he started up the scanner
"A little light on my hooves," She replied with a gentle laugh leaving his nose. "This earthen gravity must be a little less than what I'm used to on Sequella, the air is a bit cold too... sterile, no humidity, unlike our ships." She added with a vain of superiority in her voice.
"You should try breathing in on a klingon vesssssle." Sthilg replied with a chuckle of his own. " Humaid and a sssmell that can peel paint."
Anne simply wrinkled her nose at the very idea. "Sterile and cold will do nicely."
"Luckily for you Ambassador the VIP suites have excellent environmental controls, far more adaptable than the rest of the ship." S'hib chirped up, handing T'han back his phase lance.
" S'hib is correct. There is no finer suit than the VIP onesss. " The lizard agreed. Looking over at the security officer he added. " Have you added in your peoplesss database to the food replicator in the VIP quartersss?" he asked.
"I have Doctor, added a few homemade additions," S'hib replied proudly, though his expression hinted on mischievous as he glanced at T'han. "Some Bajoran too, highly recommend."
" I hope one of those is my vulcan sssalad." The gorn replied with a grin. " Well, everything looks good ambasssssador. I sssee no reason to keep you here."
"Marvelous, we shalt keep you then Doctor." Anne said with a somewhat sigh of relief as she spun around and stood up from the biobed, her tail trailing off behind her as she promptly began marching for the exit.
"Red sea blessings upon you." T'han remarked on behalf of his Priestess, bowing low before promptly turning on a single hoof and hurriedly clicking to catch up with Anne.
"I'll try to keep them out of trouble, no promises though..." S'hib snorted as he patted Sthilg on the shoulder, lazily walking off after the pair who had already left sickbay.
" Take care my friend. " Sthilg called after him as he stepped out of the operating procedure activating the room sterilisation process as he did so.
