Mission:
MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Black Watch II
Timeline: TBD (before Cragen's attack on the Rigel X base)
757 words - 1.5 OF Standard Post Measure
While the rest of the crew was busy with their day-to-day duties, at the mansion, Mattias went looking for someone in particular. He grinned broadly when he found her. "Do you ever get out of that chair?" He chuckled softly as he spoke.
Sasha peered over the top of the PaDD she was reading and gave Mattias a questioning look, "I fail to see the issue."
This made Mattias chuckle even more. "Fair point." He moved closer and asked, "In your various dealings, have you found a jeweler that you trust, who also create custom pieces?"
Raising her brow suspiciously Sasha replied "Perhaps.... but he only works with rare stones and metals. And hes a bit on the pricey side.'
Mattias seemed nonplussed about those terms. "That's fine. I need a special piece built. And Sasha. I need your word that you won't say anything to anyone here, especially Phoenix."
More eager now that she was in on a secret, her eyes perked up and she adjusted herself in her chair. Looking around the empty room before drawing her attention back to Mattias. "I can reach out. What's our timeline look like?"
Mattias smiled and let out a relieved breath. He moved closer and replied, speaking quieter. "While I recognize that art takes time, unfortunately, I am going to need the item before we finish this mission." He glanced around again, ensuring they were alone. He then leaned closer and whispered into Sasha's right ear. "As soon as the mission is over, and Phee holds her babies again, I'm going to ask her to marry me." He smiled again and straightened up.
Sasha contained her squeal, leaning closer to gather as much information as she could. When she heard the timeline she scowled, “This is going to take a lot of convincing. If I can pull this off in time you’ll owe me BIG time, Mattias. “
Mattias gave Sasha a soft smile. "Sash, you do this for me, and you have a deal!" He gave her a friendly wink, then left her to do what she needed to do.
----the next day----
Sasha had sent Mattias a coded message a few hours prior informing him that she had found what he had been looking for. It hadn't taken as long as she expected and that pleased her. It gave her a boost in ego. Not unusual for Sasha at all. The contact was able to acquire the materials almost immediately and commission the piece. The hardest part was arranging the pick up but Sasha was good with going...unnoticed for a few hours.
She currently sat crosslegged on the top of a crate in the cargo bay shuffling through information logs and somewhat uncoded classified Starfleet messages.
Entering the room that Sasha had set up as her office of sorts. He had made sure that Phoenix was unaware of what was going on. "Hey, Sash. You have something for me?"
Sasha looked up, first glancing behind Mattias to see if he had been followed or not, then to him. The corner of her mouth perked up. “I might.” She pulled a small box out of her jacket pocket and tossed it to him, trying not to flinch at how carelessly she handled such a precious gift.
Mattias caught the all box easily in his right hand. As he continued to step closer, he cracked it open, revealing the treasure inside. "Oh, Sasha!" He exclaimed with a growing grin on his face. Please charge my accounts a ten percent bonus for both you and your jeweler! The ring is perfect! Thank you!" He snapped the box shut and embraced the young woman in a warm hug.
Sasha awkwardly pat Mattias in the back, “Yeah yeah yeah, no need to get all emotional big boy.” Part of Sasha wanted to return the embrace but that wasn’t a side of her she let be known often.
Mattias quickly released his hold on Sasha, remembering that she was uncomfortable being touched. "Oh, I'm sorry! I got excited there! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." He took a step back, to give her some space. "Thank you again for doing this so quickly, and so perfectly. I know that Phee is just going to love it!"
After they talked some more about a few other details on various topics that concerned both the team and their own personal lives, Mattias thanked Sasha again, then left her to her data PADDs and quartermaster duties.

Excellent post! It's good to know folks who can get you "stuff" that ain't sold in the Starfleet "Sky Miles" magazine. Sometimes you need a left-handed can opener, a PaDD with two SIM cards and Starfleet only knows about one of them, where to get the non-itchy dress uniform or...in this case...a ring for you sweetie. A fun read and a good person to know.
