[["All hands, stand ready. We are about to make contact."]]

S'hib listened to the message echo eerily throughout the ship, his eyes unblinking as he stared at the transporter pad before him; waiting for it to whirl into life.

"It's so quiet..." He thought out loud, as if the entire ship, Elysium included was holding its breath.

Then he found he was holding his own as the transporter began humming to life, the blurring glistening outline of six officers brandishing phasers and rifles materialising in front of him.

"Gentleman..." S'hib snorted loudly as all their eyes fell onto him, his sudden presence seemingly taking them by surprise as they all froze in place.

"Welcome aboard the Elysium." He added gleefully while spinning his phase lance into his hip, opening fire before any of them had time to react.

Crackling yellow energy swept across the boarding party in one swift motion, filling the room with a high pitched hiss as they fell to the floor one by one.

"Computer, security override S'hib alpha-theta nine..." He growled, wasting no time to savour this small victory as he hurriedly clicked to the transporter controls "Initiate site to site transport to deck six, twelve meters from the entrance to transporter room two, energise."

Light began to envelop him almost instantly, his coat prickling at the sensation as his vision of the dimly lit room was replaced with that of a bright corridor, and the sudden sensation of a phaser beam hissing its way through his still materialising chest.

Next time he'd walk he thought as he finished materialising, throwing his left arm up to catch the second and third shots on his personal shield projector, absorbing the lethal energy as it dissipated across the hexagonal grid that was projected in front of him.

This sudden and unexpected shield seemed to greatly perturb the small squad, their momentary pause of fire replaced by confused glances amongst one another as they hastily tapped their comms badges.

One brief moment of indecision was, however, all the window of opportunity the Commander needed as he dropped onto one knee and opened fire, dropping two before the rest had a chance to react.

Stray phaser beams and pulse shots returned his way as the squad tried to retreat, with only two panicked shots finding their mark, impacting harmlessly mere feet in front of the crouched Sequus, the curved hexagonal shield barely visible after the lethal energy of their shots dissipated over its surface.

His lance then hissed back in kind, throwing yellow spheres of phased plasma at the rest of the squad, systematically stunning the remaining squad one by one, his shield flaring up brightly with every exchange until the last one fell with a thump and a clatter of their rifle.

"That went better than expected." S'hib strained as he used his lance to stand back up, trying his best to ignore the smell wafting up from two burn marks on his body armour; the last two shots that had somewhat passed through his shield before it had run out of power.

"I mean, It was either that or die so..." He continued, trying to calm his nerves as adrenaline continued to flood his system. "Yeah, I probably shouldn't repeat that around Naxea," S'hib mumbled before stumbling forward as the Elysium moved suddenly, almost losing his footing.

"Red sands..." he cursed with a frown, steadying himself with his lance before the ship rocked hard and he was flung to the floor anyway. "Damn it Miraj!"

Me? What did I do. I just pilot. Blame engineering for never putting in enough inertial dampners and useless gravity coils. I'm innocent of all charges.

Thank you for an enjoyable reading. I think, playing an alien character, that no one has ever seen before, takes a special talent. To write about a species that is so unique takes a creative person. You do it marvelously. Looking forward to simming with you and hope our characters might meet.
