Memories, Sweeter than Wine

Gary was in the kitchen of his and Lia's quarters preparing a light dinner
of Dabo chicken, some shrimp fried rice with egg rolls to appease Lia's craving for Japanese food. He even had some sake ready for her to help compliment the meal.

As he worked, he thought of how lucky, no fortunate to meet, fall in love and marry two remarkable women. One was lost to him by accident the other was still with him and barring any unforeseen incidents, would grow old with him. He paused his preparation and thought of a song that summed up how he felt about Lia. "Computer play Kisses Sweeter Than Wine by Peter, Paul and Mary." An instant later the first strands of the song filled the kitchen.

I told her we'd be so happy for the rest of our life
I begged and I pleaded like a natural man

Well we worked very hard, both me and my wife
Workin' hand-in-hand to have a good life
We had corn in the field and wheat in the bin
And then, whoops oh lord, I was the father of twins

Well our children, they numbered just about four
And they all had a sweetheart a'knockin' on the door
They all got married and they wouldn't hesitate
I was, whoops oh lord, the grandfather of eight

Well now that I'm old and I'm a'ready to go
I get to thinkin' what happened a long time ago
Had a lot of kids, a lot of trouble, and pain

As the song played Gary danced along. He chuckled at the thought of anyone seeing him dancing by the countertop. They might think he had been hitting the sake. *At least* He thought *It's not on the countertop, * But then he decided he didn't care so he now sang and danced along. "This is going to be the best damn Japanese meal Lia ever had." He whispered to himself a smile on his face as he realized how happy he was. First to Catlin and then to Lia for loving him and sharing and making him part of their lives.
