Gary was in his quarters. He was thinking of the first time he was apart from Catlin and how much it upset him. They had just gotten engaged, and he wanted to be with her every chance he could, He could even remember the conversation they had concerning it.
"I'm not going."
Gary, you're being stubborn, you're going." Catlin replied.
"No. I don't want to leave you." Came the defiant reply.
"Gary Taylor. Stop being an ass. I will be fine. Its only two weeks."
"An ass? Gee Catlin, that's a little harsh, don't you think? I thought I was being thoughtful and considerate." Gary pouted.
An exasperated sigh followed. "GARY, you are thoughtful and considerate and right now, you are picking at my words. You know exactly what I mean and what I am referring to." Catlin replied, hands on hips.
"Yes, I do, and you aren't listening." He countered weakly.
Oh, I'm listening. Rest assured I am listening, and you listen to me. I will stuff you in a packing crate if I have to, but you are going to that seminar."
Gary couldn't help but smile at that. "You're going to stuff me in a packing crate? I'd like to see that."
Don't tempt me Gary and you won't see anything. You'll wake up in a dark, cramped space with air holes." Catlin threatened."
"Oh." Was Gary's only reply.
"Better." Catlin smiled at him. "Gary, I love you and I know you love me, and you want us to be together and we will be, but we don't need to be joined at the hip."
"Catlin, I just want us to be to...." Gary started but was stopped by a finger on his lips. "You want us to be together. I know." Catlin sighed. "Look Gary, we'll be married in just a few months and then we'll have all the togetherness you could ever want."
"Welllll....."
"Stop being thick headed." Catlin demanded. "You are a hopeless romantic and I love it and you, just not now. This seminar is important for you and us. So, get on the shuttle tomorrow and go."
"You convinced me." Gary finally acquiesced to Catlin's request.
"Good! Now, I know just how to spend the evening, with some quality alone time." The last said as she burst into giggles and kissed him passionately.
"I love you too." Gary replied, kissing Catlin and the rest of the evening and early morning was indeed quite memorable.
All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
It's early morn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome
I could die
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I wasn't around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll bring your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time
Let me kiss you
Then close your eyes
And I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say
Kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
But, I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
Gary smiled as his thoughts returned to the here and now and Lia, the woman he loved every bit as much as Catlin. He lifted his eyes to the heavens. "Thanks for being right Catlin."

Good. It's 'bout time somebody wrote one of them romantic-like posts. And yeah, "Get to the seminar" and such. Now, I know that song from when somebody by the name of John Denver and Cass Elliott sang it. Back in my day we had a thing called LP's or "records". Bah, you kids these days with your 8-track tapes and your rock and or roll. Meddling kids! Get a haircut!
And get off my lawn!
Oh and - nice post. :)
