Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
980 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Snow's sensors detected the radiation spike in the science Lab before the ship's computers did so. Teleporting in the robot scanned around for a leak. As his sensors detected a humanoid presence.

" Doctor Mckay........" he buzzed out in a calm tone as he saw the doctor and the operating machinery. " Why have you not attended assistance? it could be dangerous with these radion levels. " he inquired.

"I don't Really need assistance Ensign," Nevada said quietly as the Lab thrummed with powering down electromagnetic fields. "The experiment i'm running is Largely safe to myself and the ship...at least at the scale we're running." she said as she scanned the Data provided by the computers analyses. "though...if you did want to Assist me you could walk an old woman down to Sickbay," she said cracking a smile across her impossibly young face.

" I'll do my best." Snow said as he hovered down to her level and replicated a handle on his mechanical shell for her to grip.

"Tell me...ah..." she paused. "Forgive me, but I don't think I know your Name?" She asked as she carefully gripped the offered handle. "I've been avoiding Sickbay for so long I don't really know most the staff there."

" I'm ensign BF 345078 though I chose the name john snow." The robot replied happily.

She scoffed softly as she shrugged. "I was first starting out with the fleet when Exo's started being tested you know," she said thoughtfully. "All those years ago.." she trailed off, her eyes drifting into long suppressed memories.

" We have come a long way since then. We hope to have earned out place int he fedration. " the small robot replied.

"I'd say you have..." Nevada said as she walked along. "I may be a crazy old lady from the glory days...but I'd say anyone can carve a niche for themselves in this fleet...if they put the effort it for it."

" Don't say that ma'am your not that old." the small robot replied reassuringly.

Nevada Chuckled mirthfully as she walked. "I'm sixty five years old..." she scoffed. "I've lived longer then most the sentients on this ship have been old enough to drink," she said with a soft shrug. "I may not look it...but I've got the Nightmares to prove it..."

" I'm sorry to hear that. I hope I can make it to sixty five someday." Snow soft reply came.

Nevada laughed softly. "With your Neural architecture I'd be shocked If you didn't make it to a thousand," she said with a soft hum. "Maybe That should have been my bid for immortality...Trying to digitize my mind rather then Fucking around with More genetics.."

The robot let out a few sympathetic beeps. " The Egyptians of earths ancient past said one only truly dies when their name is spoken for the last time. " He said reassuringly.

"Did they really?" she asked with genuine interest. "I never was one for history in school, And spent most my time Trying to come up with New Breeds of coffee or spicy peppers...Until I joined the academy and started looking for the figurative fountain of youth."

" A search to extended the lifespan of one's fellow's is always worth the struggle. My own name shake faces hostility to his own work, but saved so many lives from it." The small robot added.

"For me it wasn't so much wanting to help anyone...that was more a fringe benefit.." she fell quiet for a moment. "I did it out of a selfish desire to extend my life so I could live along side some one who'd out live me by far..." she chuckled quietly as she walked. "Still...I hope my research can be used to benefit the federation once I'm gone...assuming they don't just chuck it under a Top secret seal like they did last time..."

" I'll make sure that it's used. You have my word. That is if you'll let me. " The small robot replied hopefully.

Nevada stayed quiet as she thought that over, her eyes narrowing as she let a sigh. "As long as you don't let anyone Weaponize it..." she whispered.

" I swear on the solar dust my circuitry is made from." the exocom said in a tone one thought not possible from his frame.

Nevada gave a chuckle. "If intelligence or 31 Let you get away with it," she scoffed as She rounded the corner towards Sickbay.

" I will personally make sure that never happens. I swear by the solar dust I'm made from." He said as if he was a planet sized robot.

"Sounds like you got a Loop error there ensign," Nevada said with a snicker.

" I'll take a look ma'am." The robot said as they arrived at Sickbay.

The Human gave a slow bow of her head, her mane of well kept dark brown hair swaying slowly. "Thanks for walking me here," she said with a soft chuckle.

" No problem doctor." Snow replied with a happy beep.

Nevada gave him a slow nod, her eyes narrowing as she stepped into the sickbay. "Well, I suppose there's no use in putting off the inevitable," she sighed as she walked in, her gaze flicking across the Medical facility to try and Locate the Gorn Doctor.

The gorn quickly found his college. Giving her a reassuring smile he walked over to her. " Are you sssure thisss is what you want Nevada? We can freeze you and keep trying."

The old woman gave a quiet sigh of defeat. "I'm sure there is a fix for this..." she muttered quietly. "I've even thought of a few..." she said with a glance back towards the Exocomp. "But I'm not going into stasis..." she added with a harsh tone.

" Well let's get you on a biobed and checked up. "Sthilg said offering his arm as he gently guided her to a biobed.

Very creative! The Exocomps were an interesting set of characters. I'm glad to read that you lot are exploring them further. Even an ensign in starfleet! Neat. Nice pot. Thank you for the enjoyable reading. Very entertaining.
