Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: USS Elysium, Reece Family Quarters
Timeline: Current
1743 words - 3.5 OF Standard Post Measure

Samaire arrived back from the Operations gathering to the Reece family cabin and kicked off her shoes as she sat down on the couch with a sigh. "Oh my feet." She muttered.

Hearing her speak, Liam picked his head out from the kitchenette. "Hey, sweetheart! Welcome home!" He moved over to her, leaned in to kiss her, then lifted her feet and put them over his lap as he sat down next to and started to rub them. "How was your gathering?"

"Interesting. The new officer has arranged for us as a team to go camping and climbing. " Sam sighed "Oh that feels great."

Looking over, Liam smiled. "As a team building exercise or just for fun?" He continued to rub the knots out of her feet

"Fun. They convinced Sapphire Morgan to go. I think she is way more girly than me so,"

"You're very girly, my love," Liam responded with a playful smirk

"Sapphire wears her off duty clothes like they are from a high fashion house and knowing her they probably are. She always has perfect hair and nails. Me, I am not that fastidious."

"Hey now," he said with a hungry smirk. "You have certainly dolled yourself up for me more than once. And I think you always look perfect, my love."

Samaire grinned at him. "Why thank you Sir" she replied. "And I do try my poor best."

Liam looked into his wife's beautiful eyes and smiled softly. "There is nothing poor about you, sweetheart." He leaned over and kissed her softly on her lips.

"Flatterer" She kissed him back. "Wheres Skylah?" she asked curiously.

Smiling as he sat back and continued to massage his wife's sore feet, Liam replied. "She's over at the Charles's, doing homework with Hendor. Apparently their class has a history presentation due next week and she asked to go over they to work on it with him. I was going to see how you felt about having him over here tomorrow night, to give his parents a night alone."

"Sounds good to me, and fair." Samaire smiled. "How long do you think we have?"

Liam inhaled as he considered his reply. "Ohhhh...about two and a half hours or so." He looked over to her and asked, a glint of mischief starting to fill his eyes. "Why? What do you have in mind?"

"Hmm not sure. Maybe we could go do a holoprogram?" Sam suggested.

Nodding to his wife, Liam replied. "Sounds great. Though I'd have to stop doing this," he emphasized rubbing her feet a bit more.

Samaire moaned and her head fell back against the couch. "Yeah tough choice."

Liam chuckled softly, then slowly slid his hands up Samaire's legs. "You're right though, sweetheart. We should get out, even if it is only for a little bit."

"Hmm true. But if you keep that up I wont want to go anywhere but our bed."

Liam smirked as he replied. "As wonderful an idea that would be, we should probably show our faces, as a couple, outside these walls. Besides," he leaned down closer to her. "We can always go to bed after Sky is tucked in."

Sam kissed him gently, "Let me change out of my uniform and we will go somewhere."

"Okay baby," he replied with a grin after returned her kiss. He then sat back up, and offered Samaire a bracing hand to pull against.

Samire used his hand to stand and then headed to their bedroom to get changed.

She came out a short time later in a light green blouse and black skirt and low heels. "Shall we?"

Liam's eyes feasted on her appearance. "And you said that you weren't girly. My love, I definitely disagree with you on that subject. You look amazing!"

Sam laughed. "Come on Lover" She said softly. "Lets go for that walk."

He smiled and took her hand as they left their quarters and strolled the corridors together, saying hello to their shipmates and friends as they crossed paths. Finally, they reached Holodeck Three. As he moved to the controls, Liam looked over at his wife and asked, "Where to, sweetheart?"

"Surprise me" She said leaning against the wall watching him.

Narrowing his eyes briefly, he grinned at his wife. "I've got it." He typed in the requested program, then activated it. Taking Samaire's right hand into his left. He then led her inside.

As they stepped through the doors, they stepped out onto the wooden boardwalk of a beach at night. "Welcome to the boardwalk at Jones Beach, my love. This was my beach growing up." When the holodeck doors slid shut and vanished, the scene came alive around them. The sky was clear a filled with stars, the moon was full and bright, there was a gentle breeze coming in from the ocean, cool, but comfortable, and the soothing sound of crashing waves could be heard nearby.

"Lovely" Sam said as she looked around the program. "And it is perfect to spend time with you"

After pulling her closer, Liam put his arm around her back and leaned on to kiss her tenderly. "I love you, sweetheart."

Sam smiled as their lips met and she leaned into him. When they came up for air, she said "Show me more of this place love."

He nodded and then did just that. As they slowly walked the boardwalk, he pointed out a few areas that he used to enjoy. A miniature golf putting course, the arcade with over a dozen video games and pinball machines, even the large outdoor adventure rope structure. Later, after taking off their shoes, he led her down onto the beach itself, towards the surf.

"We used to come here just about every weekend, during the summer," he said with a soft grin. "This has always been one of my favorite places to go."

Samaire could see why. "Maybe next shore leave we can come here. Bring Skylah. Let her play in the sand and surf?" She suggested. "We could rent a house, invite your parents and siblings."

Liam nodded as he replied. "Sounds like a wonderful idea, sweetheart." He then chuckled softly. "Though, my parent's house is only about ten minutes away from here."

"Oh?" Sam gave him a look. "Sorry."

Lim grinned and pulled Samaire into a warm embrace. "Baby, you have no need to apologize. "I thought I told you how close My childhood home was from here. I'm the one who needs to apologize to you." He looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry, sweetheart."

She gave a nod. "Its ok I just suck at geography" she kissed his check.

He made a soft noise when he felt her lips on his skin. "You sure about that? You have all my geography down pat."

"Oh thats easy enough" she smirked. "i know every last inch of you from our.... lessons."

He arched an eyebrow. "Oh really? We're calling them lessons now? Okay," he turned towards her and slid his left hand up into her hair and took a firm hold of it, holding her close, while he slowly slid his right up between her thighs. "I think it's time for another...lesson"

"Do-- do we have time?" Samaire asked softly as the ache began between her legs. An ache he created.

Liam smirked hungrily as he replied. "For a quick lesson, certainly." He then kissed her as his right hand reached her center, which he found already very warm and welcoming.

Sam moaned and let her head rest on his shoulder "And what are you going to teach me?"

Slowly, Liam walked Samaire backwards to the nearby lifeguard stand. "I'm going to teach you the joy of a beach quickie."

***FADE OUT TO BLACK FOR A SHORT WHILE***

Afterwards, when they collected themselves and put their clothes back on, they walked out of the holodeck, arms wrapped around each other, clearly in love.

"That was a lot of fun, sweetheart," he whispered softly to her as they passed various crewmates in the corridor on their way to pick up Skylah from the Charles'.

She giggled in his ear as they walked down the hall. "Hmm yes."

After they picked up Skylah, who had fallen asleep, Liam picked her up and held her against his chest, they thanked Leilani and George and then headed home.

"She's completely tuckered out!" Liam whispered to Samaire as they reentered their quarters.

"Its good that she has a friend." Sam replied.

Liam nodded slightly as he carried Skylah to her bedroom. As she was already asleep, he looked over at Samaire. "Should we just let her sleep in her clothes tonight?"

"yeah she will be fine" Sam smiled. "Tuck her in."

He smiled and nodded. He then entered Skylah's bedroom and, while still holding her against his chest, carefully pulled back her blankets, then, slowly pulled her shoes off of her little feet and gently laid her down in her bed.

After making sure she had her newest favorite stuffed animal, the one Hendor gave her, he slowly pulled her covers back over and tucked her in. Once that was done, he knelt there for a few beats, just looking at her beautiful little angel face. He reached up and gently moved a few stray hairs from her face, then leaned in and softly kissed her forehead.

Before he stood up, he activated her nightlight, then stood up and quietly moved out of her room, stealing one more look at her as she was sleeping.

After finally closing her door, he turned and saw Samaire standing there, a soft smile on her face. Moving over to her, he asked, "Were you watching me the whole time?"

"You are so good with her" Sam said softly. "She adores you."

He stepped up and pulled his wife into a loving embrace. "The feeling is more than mutual. Though she isn't mine, I love her as if she was." He gently kissed Samaire as he spoke.

"Come lets get some rest." Sam whispered and headed for their room.

Liam nodded and followed Samaire to their bedroom. A few moments later and they had both changed for bed and were under the covers, holding one another in the dark.

"I love you, Sam," he whispered happily.

"Love you Liam. " she whispered back softly.

As they continued to hold one another, Liam slowly drifted off to sleep, a happy grin on his face.

Well sir, I'll tell you this much:

I didn't have diabetes when I started this post, but I sure do now.

The whole fade to black bit? Yeah, that's cheating. If you are going to make us sit through a couple of paragraphs of kissy face and "sweetheart" then there had better be something at the end of the rainbow.

This whole scene here - its what Star Trek would be like if they made it on Lifetime channel. You know?

Voiceover: "Next on Lifetime, Star Trek - Elysium - starring Valerie Bertanernie as Lieutenant Samaire MacBride-Reece and Kirk Cameron as Staff Sergeant Liam "Swede" Reece.

Nkay? Nothing blowed up, nobody got mugged on the boardwalk, there was no like...used up condom in the beach sand, not even a bottle cap or a half-smoked, lip-stick covered ciggy. No junkies or skeezers hassling you for dough...no crying kid, no $10 beers in a small dixie cups they give sick people to pee into for a urine sample. Something had to go wrong that night? Ok, ok....what about this? What if:

* Your cell phones had no bars?
* The Lifeguard station - someone threw up in it an hour earlier?
* The beach was closed because the cops found a body - no two bodies - in a murder/suicide pact?
* Y'all went for iced cream after doing "the nasty" and they were all out of chocolate?
* The Holladeck is on the fritz again and the bums on the beach got sentience? Scentience? They got smart and they know where they are.

Nobody has a perfect date. So...unless TV and movies have been lying to me for the past 30 years...we need some sorta conflict to pump the gas on some drama over here.

Footrub was a nice touch though. But she could have had...I dunno....corns? Fungus? BAM! Conflict. There you go.
