1204 words - 2.4 OF Standard Post Measure

Gary looked on as Leilani was treating Phoenix, Fernando doing what he could to help the others. he was currently down at the Ops station offering assistance to Samaire. Jason was at the Helm, trying to coax some power out of it so he could get some idea of where they were. As Leilani finished her exam of Phoenix, he motioned her aside and whispered to her. "I know what you said to Phoenix earlier. Anything you can add to what you said?"

“Such as?” Leilani looked at Gary curiously as she kept her voice down. “I’m concerned about the Commodore’s loss of vision, I don’t know Erisian physiology so I can’t do anything to improve the situation. She needs to be in Sickbay, the sooner the better.”

Gary shrugged his shoulders helplessly. "I don't know Leilani. I just know the Commodore is hurt more than that, my friend is hurt, and I want to fix that." He looked around the bridge, "What about everyone else? How are they faring?"

“About as to be expected” Leilani looked around. “I’d like to get Fernando’s leg set properly, he’s hobbling about it and that will do more harm than good. I can’t repair it properly without sickbay equipment, these emergency medkit are just for a temporary fix.”

Gary looked over at Fernando, who was down at the ops station trying to assist Samaire. "He's trying to help. I can't fault him for that Leilani, but I do agree with you from a medical standpoint. I'm sure you told him to stay off it. Order him if you have to or I can if need be."

Leilani nodded. “Yes Sir, I just don’t want to see him permanently damage his leg.”

Samaire looked at the inside of the console she was working on. "I need to get a link to engineering. " she grumbled as she pulled chips and gel packs from it.

She glanced at Fernando. "Fernando, can you hold these please" she held out the gel packs. "And sit down"

Fernando took the gel packs. "Certainly Samaire." He replied. He was ready and willing to help in any way he could. He nodded and slowly lowered himself int a nearby chair. "Is there anything i can do to assist you Samaire? Other than holding gel packs?" he asked.

Sam gave him a grin. "Nope. It is to make you sit down. You will not help matters if you injure yourself more." She knelt under the console and then drew back. "Jason, under your console, i need the gel packs from there. Power maybe dead from yours but we can cannibalise it to get this one and maybe comms up."

Jason nodded and crawled under helm console, Grunts and groans could be heard from under the console. Soon muttered curses followed as Jason worked the gel packs free. He slid from under the console and sat up, handing the gel packs to Samaire. "Here you go Sam. I hope this works."

She smiled and took the packs and then slid under the operations console. "Here is hoping. Go to Security, do the same, leave tactical and engineering and comms, ever other console can be scavenged from."

Jason did as Samaire instructed moving to the security console and removing the gel packs from under the console. Once he finished there he moved to science and removed the gel packs. Once he had collected enough, he brought them back to Samaire. "This enough or do you need more?"

While Samaire was occupied with replacing the gel packs, Fernando got up and went around the bridge, looking for more packs for Samaire to use. He got some more from the secondary science station. As he was heading back to Samaire he heard it a crack like a rifle shot and he knew his leg was broken. He crumbled o the deck in frustration though he protected the packs, "I just wanted to help to pull my weight." He said frustration in his voice.

Leilani sighed as she quickly scanned Fernando’s leg. “I warned you Fernando! You’re lucky that was a clean break. I can’t fix it here for you, all I can do is stabilise it and give you pain relief.” She offered an understanding smile. “I know you were trying to help, but I don’t think Heather would be so easy on you.”

Fernando nodded glumly. "I know Leilani. I believed you but I could not stand by and not try to help. Save your pain meds. I can manage." He sighed, "No Heather will not be pleased with me. Not at all." He paused and looked at Leilani, "I hope she and Cody are alright. I worry about them. It is why I was gathering the gel packs. To keep from worrying."

Looking around the shattered bridge, Gary allowed his mind to wander as he thought of Lia. Last time he saw her, she was asleep in their bed. He prayed she was alright. It was all he had to hang on to and he wouldn't let himself think in any other way. His mind snapped back to the here and now. "Leilani." He called out and waited for her to finish with Fernando.

“Excuse me Fernando” Leilani offered a warm smile. “If you need me just call.” With that she headed over to Taylor. “Yes, Sir?”

"I'm going to evac the Commodore and Fernando off the bridge and to Sickbay, we're going to use one of the shuttles transporters. I'd like you to go with them to watch over them and to let the medical personnel know the state of their injuries." Gary replied.

“Of course Sir” Leilani nodded. She was hoping that she’d finally find out where George and Hendor were.

"I was hoping you would be agreeable to that." Gary answered."You've done a magnificent job here Leilani. I 'll make you get a commendation for your work here."

“That’s appreciated Sir” Leilani smiled warmly. “But I’m just doing my job. I don’t expect a reward for doing what I’m trained to do. To be honest, I need to know what’s happened to my husband George, and my son Hendor. I’ve not heard anything about them.”

"I know you are concerned for their safety just as they are concerned for yours. I worry about Lia. Haven't heard anyone even mention seeing her." Gary said somberly.

Leilani gently placed her hand on Gary’s arm. “If Lia is there I’ll find her, one way or another I’ll get you some news. That’s a promise!”

"I would be grateful Leilani, however, find George and Hendor first to set your own mind at ease. They are your primary concern." Gary replied as he gave her hand a reassuring pat.

Leilani nodded. “I will, thank you Sir” she smiled warmly.

Samaire meanwhile was finishing up on the Operations console. "Captain? I think I have power here!" she called out.

Gary looked past Leilani and to Samaire. "Wonderful news Samaire! Fire it up and let's see what we have."

Samaire nodded and powered up the console.
