A long day.

Sthilg hit his chair with a thump that summed up the full size of his alien bulk. He'd been on his feet for at least eighteen hours and he knew he was beyond the point of total exhaustion as was his whole team. Reaching for his coffee flask the gorn tried pouring himself a cup only for it to produce nothing more than a trickle.

Slamming the flask down the gorn simply started up at the ceiling. This truly was a dark day.

Deanna walked in as she heard the slam of the flask. “You’re exhausted Imzadi, why don’t you stop for this evening, come to bed and rest?”

" No time for ressst. People need me. For all we know the ssship isss going to start falling apart." he replied calmly.

Deanna nodded. “This crew have been... amazing!” She sat down beside Sthilg. “After everything that’s happened so far they’ve come together to help one another, the compassion I’ve seen, and felt is remarkable. Alicia is recovering, Connor and N’Vea are safe, Savar has exceeded every expectation I ever had of him, and you...” She paused as she took hold of Sthilg’s large reptilian hand. “You are every part the miracle worker I’ve heard. We will get through this, but if you are to help your crew you need to rest.”

" Not much of a miracle worker." He replied softly looking over towards the morgue. Now beyond full. " What the hell happened Imzadi." he added looking at her.

“I honestly don’t know Imzadi” Deanna shook her head. “All I know is that you did all you could to save those that were lost.”

“Mum is right, Dad” Alicia offered a comforting smile as she moved across to her parents. “None of us foresaw this, it was an unexpected disaster.”

Savar had been quiet as first Deanna spoke and then Alicia in both their praise and encouragement to the CMO. He cleared his throat as he spoke. "Sir." He said quietly. "You have met the challenge and defeated it. However if you wish to remain victorious you must rest. You do yourself and those you wish to save no good if you cannot 1. Offer your best and 2, Stay awake."

The gorn was struggling to keep his eyes open. Nodding he looked over his family with love in his white eyes. " Thank you all of you. Sssavar can you read the children a ssstory today?" he asked his son in law as he stood up from his chair. " I have some blanketssss and pillowsss in one of the drawsss in here."

"I shall be glad to do so. You take care of yourself and Deanna, I will look after Alicia and the children." Savar answered even as he moved to get some blankets and pillows for Connor and N'Vea.

Alicia smiled as she sat cuddling both children, N’Vea was already asleep and Connor was looking ready to fall asleep as well. “We’ll manage, you get what you rest you can. We’ll call you if you’re needed.”

Savar moved over to Alicia. "I have prepared a place for the children to sleep Alicia. Let me take them so you may also rest."

Alicia nodded and gently handed over N’Vea, before gently ushering Connor over by his sister as well.

Sthilg dug around in his draw finding an emergency medical kit, five MRE's and a tube with some blankets and pillows. Unscrewing the lid he lay it down on the floor as he moved his desk to one side to give him and his Imzadi some room. Spreading out the blankets and pillows he gave an apologetic smile to his Imzadi. " I'm afraid it'sss not the bessst five ssstar hotel in Parisss my love."

“Don’t worry about me Imzadi” Deanna smiled as she touched Sthilg’s cheek. “Anywhere you are is good enough for me, besides it’ll be like a big family camp out!” She smiled as she looked across at Savar, Alicia and the children busy cuddling up in their corner of the room. “I’ll sleep better knowing my family are all safe together.”

Sthilg nooded as he handed over two of the MRE's. " I'm afraid it'sss jussst mac and chesssse." he said apologetically.

“Mac and Cheese is just fine Father” Alicia smiled as she took what Sthilg was offering. “Right now we can’t afford to be choosy.”

Savar had wrapped a blanket around Connor and another around N'Vea as he held them both, one in each arm.

Sthilg had handed out all the meals but was struggling to open his own. Managing to open the sweet he poped it into his mouth but before he'd even finished chewing he let out a massive snore as his brain shut down and he entered some grateful sleep.

“At least dad is finally getting some sleep” Alicia smiled as she looked across at Sthilg. “Let’s get some rest ourselves while we still can.”

Deanna nodded as she gently cuddled up to her fiancé. “That’s a good idea, hopefully we’ll get some rest before anything else happens.”

Alicia nodded as she huddled down in her spot ready to cuddle up with her children and Savar. She just hoped nothing would happen while they were all resting.

Savar had wrapped an arm around Alicia, holding her close to him while Connor and N'Vea slept peacefully wrapped in blankets beside their parents.
