- Marine Medical -

Emily sat beside her brother’s biobed, young Hendor sat cuddled up with her in the absence of his mother. Emily was hoping that George’s recovery would be an easy one, but right now he had a long way to go, and not knowing where Leilani was wasn’t helping.

George opened his eyes and carefully looked over at his sister and son. At least, as much as he could in his currently restrained position. "Hey," he said softly.

Hendor's head popped up as soon as he heard his father speak. "Papa! You're awake!" He started to fidget in Emily's lap.

Emily smiled as she let Hendor down to go to his father. “Hey big brother” she smiled as she gently kissed George on the cheek. “We’re hopefully going to be getting you out of here, we’re moving to a medical shuttle.”

George smiled, both at his son's excitement and at his sister's tenderness. "Sounds good," he said quietly. "Any word on Leilani?"

“Nothing more yet” Emily offered an understanding glance. “You’ll get to see her soon hopefully. I want you two.. sorry, three..” she looked at Hendor. “reunited as soon as possible.” She gave her nephew a loving hug.

Hendor returned the hug from his aunt, squeezing her tightly.

George nodded as best he could. "Good. I still can't hear her thoughts, which is worrisome."

Elijah was doing his final rounds, he had scrubbed off most of the blood and soot from his face and hands and managed to even source a fully stocked medical pack which was slung over one shoulder. He worked quietly in the background making sure before he left for the main medical everything here was done.

Captain Woolheater looked over the evacuation needs of the medical bay. It was going to be a shit-show. Some patients could be moved. And others could not. Captain George Charles fell somewhere in the middle was Samuel's best guess. He probably shouldn't be moved, but he would have to be picked up, laid down, and moved at some point. He couldn't be immobilized until they got back to a Starbase.

Tired and exhausted himself, he decided that the best person to make that decision was a doctor. Woolheater said, "Talley? Olson? You two do whatever the doc asks you to do with these patients. You two are just coming from off-duty after a luxurious ninety-minute break. Report to Sergeant Gami when you're relieved by medical. Off you go."

"Yut!" they said. Two marines from the first platoon arrived with a straight-backed, flat, patient carrier. A nurse directed them to Captain Charles' "bed" where a small group had gathered.

Emily moved aside for a moment, walking across to Woolheater she offered a warm smile. “Thank you for all this, for getting George out of danger in the first place. We owe you and the marines a huge debt, all I can hope now is that George is reunited with Leilani, he needs her right now.”

Sam listened as Emily spoke and could hear the concern and relief in her voice. Concern for the well-being of George and relief that he was getting prioritized. Sam said, "Marines are glad to be of service, ma'am. The Captain there is well liked by the crew and we will do out best for him and for everyone's safety. I'm sure doctor Carmichael will be along in a moment. He's done amazing work, hasn't he? I'm so impressed." Sam commented as he looked around the medical bay for Elijah. Not finding him among the crowded medical bay he asked, "Do you know where the Captain is to be evacuated? What shuttle?"

“I think I heard someone mention the name Leithe, but I could be wrong.” Emily offered a smile. “I think Elijah has worked miracles, he’s a marvel for sure.” She stifled a yawn, it had been a lot of work looking after marine medical.

Sam raised his hand and got the attention of Talley who came over. Sam asked, "Corporal? Captain Charles is being transported to the Lethe. I’ll help you get him prepped for transport. I mean he is literally going to be beamed to the shuttle. Get a list of the medical supplies and pain killers he will need from a medic and see him off to the shuttle. I will see if I can locate Dr. Carmichael." As Talley left Sam said to Emily, Thank you for the help you gave while you were here. We couldn't have gotten medical up so quickly without you. I'll see you again soon. I hope your brother is healing."

“He’s doing pretty well so far” Emily smiled warmly as she looked at George, then back at Sam. “I’m hoping we can get George reunited with Leilani soon, he needs her. He’s got a long road of recovery ahead of him.”

Sam nodded somberly, "Yes ma'am. So I have heard. But he's got you and Leilani and the little man there. And that's worth hanging on for."

Elijah having heard his name came alongside them, "No need to look for me though I am about to leave I think you have everything under control here and I know there are more people who could use some help." He smiled, "I suppose you'll need medical authority to transport?" He asked scanning George, truly he'd rather they all be moved physically than have their bodies dematerialised and rebuilt but time was of concern. "Under typical conditions, I would oppose transporters but have heard reports from most of the ship that it would also be ill-advised to stretcher him also so for now I would say he is clear to go. Though please do no administer any further pain killers until you are planetside, transporters and painkillers can cause nausea even with internal dampeners.

Olson said, "Copy that."

“Understood Doctor” Emily smiled warmly. Elijah had been a huge help since his arrival in marine medical. She could see he was ready to head off to Sickbay to do what he could there. “I guess I’ll see you when I see you, thank you for all your help.”

Turning to look at George and Hendor, Emily smiled. “Ready to go to the Lethe? Doctor Carmichael has approved your transfer.”

Marines Talley and Olson listened as Doctor Carmichael gave his medical instructions. And seeing that things were well in hand now, Samuel quietly left and went to help another group.

When they were ready, Talley made the call by tapping his COMM badge,

=A= Marine medical to Lethe. Captain Charles ready for transport =A=

=A= Understood. Standby for transport cycle. Engaging beam...energizing. =A=

The familiar hum, the slightly static electricity feeling one got and then the dematerialization sequence. Blue and brilliant white light enrobed the Captain's body and beamed him away to the waiting shuttlecraft. In a moment, the good news arrived.

=A= We have him. Safe and sound. We'll take good care of him. Lethe standing by for next transport... =A=

Talley nodded, =A= Copy. Thank you. One moment. We will contact you in a moment. =A=

The marines nodded to Emily and said, "We're saving transporter power for patients. You can board the Lethe in the main shuttlebay. Better hurry if you're going to catch it."

Emily nodded and quickly collected Hendor. She wasn’t going to miss getting him to his father aboard the Lethe. “Thank you everyone, for everything!”

Elijah smiled at Emily glad that at least that one person and one family were in one piece. "I'm sure we'll see each other before this thing is through but stay safe Emily and remind me to buy your a drink or whatever when were done" Elijah wrapped one arm around her in a friendly hug. "Now more people to save, get some rest" He smiled and with that turned to leave.

“The same goes for you Elijah!” Emily smiled. “You need rest too.” With that she motioned to Hendor that they needed to get going.
