Alicia had been busy visiting the crew, checking in on how people were doing especially those who normally resided below decks away from the ‘information chain’ she wanted to make sure that people knew they could ask for help if they needed it.
She headed back finding Savar enroute as she did so. “Hey” she smiled warmly. “How are things? I don’t suppose you fancy taking a break with me, do you?”
"Hello, to you as well Alicia. Things are going well. Dealing with the assorted stress related issues that have arisen from this incident, As for taking a break with you, nothing would please me more."
Alicia smiled. “Wonderful, let’s go and have a well earned tea break before we start again.”
"A most excellent idea Alicia. I always enjoy our time together be it professional or private." Savar replied with a nod. "Though I think I will dispense with the tea and opt for water instead."
“You? Refusing tea? Now that’s a first” Alicia smiled warmly at her husband. “To be honest I’ll be having something other than tea as well.”
"I am trying to spice my life up be unpredictable." Savar deadpanned obviously teasing Alicia.
“Ohh I see” Alicia grinned. “Any particular reason why? I like your ways of ‘spicing’ things up you know!”
"I am pleased to hear that Alicia. As to why. No particular reason. In fact no reason at all." Savar answered as they walked. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he and Alicia shared. She was a wonderful mother to their children and a fantastic wife, loving and supportive.
“Fair enough” Alicia smiled as she took Savar’s arm as they walked in the cold air. “I’m certainly not going to miss the cold once we get off this rock! I will miss the views though, there are some beautiful views around here. Not that I’ve had chance to see a lot of them.”
"Agreed. The scenery here is the complete opposite of Vulcan. However, I agree there are some spectacular views." He turned to looked at her, "Are there any in particular you wish to see Alicia?"
“Good question, I’m not sure.” Alicia offered a wry smile. “To be honest I’m finding being in the warm more preferable to being outside in the cold all the time.”
"You have just passed your sanity exam Alicia, with that statement." Savar told her as they discussed sights to see on the barren, frigid world they were stranded on.
“Ahh so I’m definitely still sane then!” Alicia grinned. Arriving at the mess tent she stepped inside grateful to have some warmth from the cold. “It’s pretty quiet in here, obviously the best time of day to come.” She walked over to the makeshift counter and chose her drink, along with a small snack.
"Very much so Alicia. I am pleased to say." Savar replied as he followed Alicia into the mess tent. "Yes, note to self. Come at this time to eat and the quiet." As he followed Alicia to the counter, picked up a fruit drink and an egg salad sandwich.
“Ohh now you’ve made me hungry!” Alicia grinned as she picked up a ration pack salad bowl, it was only small but it was filling enough. “So how are the crew you’ve talked to doing? After what’s happened with Miraj and all?”
"I will be glad to switch with you Alicia. The sandwich would be more filling than the salad." Savar offered. "The crew for the most part has accepted that we are here for a prolonged stay. They are understandably anxious to return to the Elysium and start the journey home. As for Miraj. They are shaken that an attack was carried and it could be one of the crew. They have become much more security conscious."
Alicia waved away the offer of the sandwich. “I’m fine Savar, you enjoy your sandwich. As for the crew, whoever did this is either hiding away somewhere, or has no remorse at all about what he or she has done. I haven’t sensed anything untoward from anyone I’ve been near. There’s been upset, general anger, fear, all expected emotions.”
"As you wish Alicia. It is better than the salad." He bantered. "Undoubtedly you are correct Alicia. Whomever did this may also feel they were right to attack Miraj as they see it as a fitting punishment for her. Believing, she is responsible for us being here."
“Do none of these people realise that without Miraj we’d most likely all be dead?” Alicia sighed. “That cosmic string would have sliced us in two, She only did what she had to do to try and save us!” She shook her head. “Miraj saved us, and I for one am not going to see her tortured over this.”
"I quite agree Alicia and I have stated that to those who have sought to blame Miraj for us being here." Savar replied before he sipped his fruit drink.
“You do make a wonderful Counsellor Imzadi” Alicia smiled. “When I first came aboard you were Acting Chief Counsellor, at the time I was worried you’d take offence at my just coming in and taking over the reins so-to-speak.”
"You are most kind Alicia. I have no ego to bruise and you are a magnificent chief counselor. I hope you realize your worry was unfounded and misplaced." He leaned over to her and whispered, "In addition i loathe paperwork." His face perfectly expressionless.
Alicia couldn’t help but grin. “I know the feeling! It’s the worst part of the job. The amount of hours I spend simply updating personnel files is ridiculous.”
"Indeed. As the humans say it goes with the job. I do not envy you one bit in regard to the paperwork though I am more than willing to help you deal with it Alicia."
“Thank you Imzadi, Tate is dealing with her own pile of paperwork so I would appreciate the help.” Alicia paused to politely eat her salad.
"You are welcome my love. "It is a service I am more than willing to provide to ease your burden." Savar answered as he took a bite of his sandwich.
“So how’s about we just spent some fun time with Connor and N’vea later? We seem to spend all our time sorting out the crew, or doing other things. I think it’d be fun to have some time just concentrating on our two wonderful children.”
"It is a suggestion I can and do totally support Alicia. I think Connor and N'vea would agree with you if they were capable of expressing their feelings with words." Savar noted.
“This...disaster has served to remind me what’s truly important, not just my role helping others but being a mother and wife too.” She picked up her glass of cold water and sipped it.
"You have your priorities in the proper order Alicia. It is something I have always known about you." Savar answered as he took another bite of his sandwich.
“My priority is to make your life, and those of our children happy and full of meaning.” Alicia smiled as she set about finishing off her salad.
"And you succeed flawlessly Alicia. I only hope that I emulate your example as well as you carry it out." Savar answered as he finished his sandwich.
Alicia smiled the biggest smile yet. “I understand there’s been some applications for adoptions for the orphaned children, this crew are so amazing giving these children new hope.”
Savar nodded, "Children are the innocents of the universe. It is good to see the crew opening their hearts and homes to the children who may be feeling forgotten."
“It is indeed. Tate has been doing what she can to help the children, it’s going to be anything but easy for them. With loving new families it should help them to move on.”
I agree Alicia." Savar replied and then looked into her eyes. "Are you wishing we adopt a child Alicia?"
Alicia opened her mouth to respond then paused and closed it again. “I...hadn’t actually thought about that.” She paused again knowing full well they’d never be able to have any more children of their own. “Do you think we should?”
"It is a question we must face together Alicia. If you believe we need to lead by example, then yes, we should adopt. If you think are efforts of helping the children and their new parents, then no. What I am saying is it is a question that involves only us and we must consider how it could effect us." Savar answered.
Alicia nodded. “We do have two young children, I would worry if I felt I wasn’t giving them the attention they deserve.” She paused. “But...I can’t give you any more children Imzadi.”
"Do you think that diminishes you in my eyes or I love you less Alicia? Nothing could be further from the truth. You are my everything. If we had no children or ten. I would love you as much as I do now." Savar answered.
Alicia smiled Savar had a way with words that always helped. “I guess I never really let it sink in before, the fact that I couldn’t have any more children. I’d just given birth to N’vea and my mind was focussed on caring for her, I didn’t take the time to let myself adjust.”
"Then you should take the time to let yourself adjust to this change. It does not make you less a mother or wife Alicia." Savar pointed out. "You are wonderful in both roles." He added.
Alicia smiled warmly. “I know Imzadi, I would have liked to have given you another child. Perhaps we should think on it for now, and see where our hearts and minds take us.”
"Agreed Alicia. It should not be a decision we rush into one way or the other." Savar answered with a smile.
Alicia nodded. “We won’t, if we decide to then we’ll plan it properly.” The words were coming out of her mouth, but in her heart she was still hurting which wasn’t helping one little bit.
Savar looked at her. "Alicia." He said slowly. "I know you are hurting, do not attempt to fool me by pretending otherwise. "We will make a decision together and as I said earlier, my love for you has never wavered or diminished."
Alicia nodded. “I know Imzadi, you keep me strong. I know I can’t hide from you and I wouldn’t even try.”
"Very good my wife. That pleases me a great deal." Savar answered.
