Her life as she knew about it, had ended over a century ago. The ship she had been on, had been attacked and the crew tortured and more.
As part of the deal that her captors had not told her former CO about, as that several crewmembers were kept by the Thaih'ea. Ensign Alessandra Sheffield had been one of crew kept. And as far as she knew, the lone survivor.
The past 138 years had been a torturous round of experiments and stasis. Then 12 months ago, she had managed to escape from the lab where she had been, being kept. She had, had help. From the underground movement of freed slaves and other races who went against the Thaih'ea who were considered one of the more powerful races in the Galaxy that she had found herself in.
Alessandra now lived beneath the surface of the M class world where she had been held captive. She lived with people of many different races and had been glad that she had a translator implanted by the Thaih'ea when they first experimented on her, which made it very easy for her to communicate and understand the words of the aliens around her. J’ier was the head of their branch of the underground, a former slave of a distant race known as Eiria. They were a peaceful race of felinoid sapients indigenous to Warfarin. They had claws, incredible strength and speed, and were covered with tawny fur and possessed prehensile tails. But J’ier broke that when he created his underground movement. He had been among those who had rescued her from the medical labs.
The Underground, had one goal, a laudable but seemingly unreachable goal. To End the Thaih'ae's stronghold in the galaxy and free the slaves.
Alessandra's goal was a bit simpler. It was to get the hell out of here and through the Thaih'ae's Trans Galactic Gate. But she knew that was not very likely for her.
As she walked briskly though the roughly hewn tunnels that the underground had created beneath the planet's surface, she carried the results of her night's scavenging on one of the farms. There was a number of islands where slaves were kept but the main one had the main genetics labs and farms where the slaves grew food for their overlords. Alessandra had been out and gathered what she could to help the underground movement survive. The soft leather boots she now wore were a big change from Starfleet Standard issue in the 2260's. But they didn’t keep the cold of the ground from seeping in as much as they just kept her footsteps quiet which was a needed thing.
Rounding the next corner, she froze and stared. The passage had been blocked off. Which meant there was an issue in the system. The Thaih’ea were constantly searching for the escapees and the rebels.
Muttering a curse, she pulled a small device from her pocket and placed it on the wall beside her. She pressed the silver button and the rock crumbled and began moving away. She loved the tunnel creator tech and once she was inside the tunnel, she pressed the sliver button and the tunnel began to close off behind her as she began to run down the newly created tunnel, not looking back. It was always a bad thing when passages had been blocked off. As she ran Alessandra considered her options. Going up… risked coming out in a bad spot, either in a compound or under water, going down meant that she lost further track of where she was.
J’ier had once told her to create a cave and seal it off around her in times of trouble but for Alessandra that was a horrible idea. She was very claustrophobic and the years in a cryo tube made it worse. She stopped after a few more minutes of running and checked her wrist chrono and compass. It showed her relative position. She bit her lip. Above her was one of the few orchards they used to grow what they classed as fruit. It was a risk but one she could probably take. The trees were not being tended due to the time of year. And the orchards would be empty.
She considered it and then redirected the tunnelling device to head to the orchards. At least it was close to the forests… she could hide there for a few days…
Then.. who knew what would happen. Maybe others will have survived, and they could regroup, and do more to save others.
