Alicia stepped out of the turbolift making her way towards Phoenix's Ready Room, there was something she needed to talk to Phoenix about and now seemed as good a time as any. Pressing the chime she waited for Phoenix to respond.

"Come!" Came the call from the commodore.

Walking in Alicia offered a warm smile. "Apologies for intruding on your quiet time Commodore. I need to talk to you about something..." she paused. "I was thinking that maybe I might...well I'm considering..." she paused and cursed herself for beating about the bush. "I'm considering taking the Bridge Officer's Test, and I wanted to know what you think."

Phoenix smiled and said "That's a great idea" she said brightly. "We can run it via the on board academy"

Alicia smiled. “I hadn’t thought about that, I was just thinking given our current situation, that being trained as a bridge officer might help. Plus I’m a Lieutenant Commander so it’s about the right time.”

Phoenix nodded "Agreed. With what is going on, the more qualified we have the better."

Alicia nodded. "To be honest I'm pretty nervous about doing this, to be in command knowing you're responsible for the lives of everyone onboard..." she paused. "I wish I knew how you did it day in and day out."

"Fake it until you make it. I believe is the Human expression. That and I had no choice in the matter really." Phoenix said with a smile.

“That’s true” Alicia smiled. “To be honest I know I only have Commander to go before the next rank up is Captain, but at present I don’t see having a command of my own in my future. I’m happy living my life as it is, not like the upcoming cadets who just want to get to make Captain. I guess you could say I’m comfortable.”

"Maybe one day if you get the chance you may like the centre chair but We will get you enrolled in the course straight away."

Alicia nodded. “That will be great, does it take long to complete the course? I’ll admit I’m already worrying about the test itself.”

"Take as long as you need. Normally only 6 or so weeks, but I am sure you will be fine though. You have spent a lot of time on the Bridge Alicia, you will be fine."

Alicia offered a smile. “How can I not be when I have support like that. I won’t let your faith in me go to waste.”

Phoenix smiled at that. "Speak with Kyle Reece, and get him to assist. He would be the best teacher."

Alicia nodded. “Kyle, Okay that I can do.” She smiled warmly. “I’m not averse to learning new things so I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Phoenix had to grin at that. "Well good luck and I look forward to seeing you succeed."

“Thank you Phoenix” Alicia smiled warmly. “I haven’t even spoken to Savar about this yet, now it’s decided I plan on talking to him next.”

Phoenix nodded. "I am sure he will support you no matter what."

“Ohh I know he will” Alicia smiled and nodded. “Savar is my rock, just as Mattias is yours. We are both lucky women.”

Phoenix smiled. "Indeed. Well good luck with your course Alicia"

Alicia nodded and stood to leave. “Thank you. I’ll do you proud, I promise.” With that she headed on her way.
