Mission: Casperia Prime - A lesson in relaxation
Location: Sickbay

Having arranged her procedure with the doctor, Alicia had arranged with Savar for him to meet her in Sickbay and be her moral support. She probably wouldn't even be awake for the procedure but she would feel better knowing Savar was there for her. As she arrived at Sickbay she stepped inside happy to see Savar there waiting. "Savar" She offered a nervous smile. "Thank you for being here."

He stood up as Alicia entered. "Of course Alicia, where else would I be? You asked me to be here did you not?''

"I did and I appreciate you coming here for me." She turned and looked as the large, lizard-like doctor approached them. "Doctor" She nodded.

The gorn dressed in the red surgical scrubs gave a polite smile to the two. " Hello, Alicia. We have operation bay three ready to go. Are you ready?" He asked in his professional manner.

Alicia looked at Savar then back at Sthlig. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be, let's just get this over with."

"I shall be here when the procedure is over Alicia and the Doctor deems it is alright for you to have visitors." Savar replied.

Alicia offered a warmer smile. "Thank you Savar."

"Of courssse." The gorn said to the chief science officer before turning back to his patient. " If you'd like to follow me I have the team waiting."

Alicia nodded. She had no doubt Savar was feeling her mix of emotions. This was the final part of her baby that she was saying goodbye to and it was a difficult thing to face up to. She changed into some surgical scrubs that the doctor had waiting for her before emerging ready for her surgery.

The gorn gave a polite smile before he patted the side of the surgical booth. " Jussst lie down and we can get ssstarted. Do you have quessstionsss before we begin?" He asked

"Nothing that can't wait until after surgery" Alicia offered a nervous smile. "Let's just get this over with." She popped herself up on the bed and lay down ready.

"Okay I'd like you to count back from ten." The gorn asked as he picked up the hypospray before carefully injecting into the woman's neck.

Alicia nodded. "Ten..nine..eight...seven..." With that she was asleep.

The gorn looked over at the human nurse who was monitoring the lieutenant's vitals nodded. " She out doctor."

" Okay let'sss get thisss ssstarted. " The gorn said to his assistant who handed him a subdermal scalpel. Even with his age there was no one better suited for the job as the gorn carefully separated the tissue before making a small incision smaller than marble to extract the tissue. He'd been doing this longer than his team had been alive as within an hour the last of the tissue was removed and the lizard was repairing the incisions and healing the damaged tissue.

" Excellent job everyone." He said as he finished with the dermal regenerator before placing it down on the equipment table. " Go get a drink and i ressst i can finish up here." He said as he began preparing a hypospray with painkillers and the revival agent. He was feeling good about himself. He still had it.

Alicia slowly stirred as the doctor revived her, she opened her eyes and offered a smile as she looked up at the Gorn. "Am I...done?" She looked at him curiously.

" Almossst. We need to make sssure the anesssthetic hasss completely worn off before you can go. How are you feeling?" He asked drawing a padd from his pocket.

"Sleepy..." She smiled. "Otherwise...no complaints." Her smile faded a little. "Was...everything that needed to go...removed?"

" All the tissssue has been removed. No complications. Isss there anything you'd like done with the tissssue?" He asked with his professional doctorly tone.

Alicia shook her head. “No, I said my goodbyes. I don’t think...I could do that again, but thank you.” She paused. “May Savar come in and sit with me?”

" Of courssse." The doctor said. " Can you feel your toesss and fingersss? You should be able to ssstart feeling them again" He asked as he looked at the medical data on the screen.

Alicia gave her fingers and toes a wiggle. “Yes, they're a little tingly but I can feel them.” She offered a smile.

" Good. Pleassse don't try and ssstand up until the tingly feeling hasss ssstoped and a medical persssonnel is presssent. If you need me i'll not be far." He said with a smile as he headed for the door as Savar entered the room. The MD nodded politely before he headed for his office.

Alicia smiled as she looked towards Savar, she was happy to see he was still there waiting for her. "I half expected you to be called away or something."

Savar walked into the room, "Your statement is illogical Alicia. I did tell you I would be here when you came out of surgery. Did you think I spoke a falsehood?"

"Not at all" Alicia smiled. "It was a silly question to ask. The doctor says I can get up once my fingers and toes have stopped tingling!" She grinned.

"No, it was not." Savar said shaking his head. "It was the effects of the anesthesia. Let us hope that happens soon so you may retire to your quarters and rest properly."

"It's starting to wear off already." She smiled. "I just want to go home and put this out of my mind. It brings back memories that I thought I'd finally come to terms with."

"You have come to terms with it Alicia. They are memories. Yes, unpleasant but memories nonetheless. Now is when you must move forward . You must not let this memory control you and your life."

Alicia nodded. "I won't, especially now I have your strength to draw upon as well as my own." She gently pushed herself up to a seated position on the biobed. Making sure she was alright prior to letting the doctor know she was ready to leave.

"I am always here for you Alicia." Savar replied as he moved to the bed and sat on it's edge. "Make no mistake you are strong and determined and when you put your mind to something, nothing can in your way."

"Thank you Savar" She smiled as she gently reached for his hand and held onto it.

"No need to thank me Alicia. I only point out what you have within you which you can draw on in times of need." Savar remarked to the woman who had captured his heart.

“I guess I just needed to hear it” Alicia smiled warmly. “I maybe a Counsellor but we all need reminding of our strengths from time to time.”

"I will be glad to remind you again if the need arises." Savar replied straight faced.

“That would be...acceptable.” Alicia replied just as straight faced before grinning.

"I am pleased you agree Alicia. it show a great deal of intelligence." Savar replied keeping the straight face.

“We could keep these compliments going all day!” She grinned. “How’s about we call the doctor and see if he’ll allow me to get out of here?”

"An excellent idea Alicia." Savar readily agreed.

Alicia turned to look at a nurse who was nearby. “Can we speak to the doctor please?”

The young nurse nodded and went to get Sthilg.

It only took a minute before the gorn returned. He gave the two a smile before asking. " Everything okay?" he said calmly.

Alicia nodded. "The tingling has stopped and I'd really like to go to quarters and rest if that's okay?"

The gorn nodded though he stopped and pulled out a very familiar device to all Starfleet personnel. The standard neck monitor. " If you wear thisss and not do any ssstrenuous physssical activity your free to go."

Alicia nodded. "Do I need to come back and see you to have the monitor removed?"

The gorn nooded. " Me or any of the medical ssstaff will be able to remove it."

"I assure you Doctor. I will make sure Alicia does not engage in any strenuous activity. She shall behave herself." Savar told the CMO.

Alicia smiled as she looked at Savar. “I will abide by your orders Doctor.”

The gorn nodded as he attached the monitor and checked it was working. "You're free to go." He said giving them both a polite smile.

“Thank you Doctor” Alicia smiled and nodded as she looked to Savar. “I’m ready when you are Savar.”

"I am ready now Alicia." Savar replied .

Taking Savar’s arm Alicia smiled as they headed out of Sickbay to return to Quarters for her to rest.
