As her mama showered, Tayalas sat in her playpen doing something she really loved to do: color and draw. Her mama had gotten the idea to cover the bottom of the playpen with a giant sheet of paper for when Tayalas had her creative time and she was loving it, turning the blank paper into a masterpiece, giggling the whole time.

Gallia stepped out of the bathroom wearing a short black silk robe her sister in law had bought her, a matching black towel wrapped around her hair. Hearing the tot giggle brought her to the playpen, "An' whot's got ye so happy, mah love?" She asked.

"Mama, look." Tay answered, pointing to the paper, especially to a figure with red hair.

"Is that me, darlin'?" Gallia asked, clearly impressed. She pointed to the figure beside her in the white coat with a black ponytail, "An' that's yer mum Kara, hey?"

"Sana." Tayalas replied, it was still her main word, her go to for anything she didn't know the word for. She pointed out a few other characters on the paper, "See-a, Sib, Sami, Stelle, Yorga, En-a, Milla."

Gallia nodded approvingly as she recognized Naxea, Sami Justice, S'hib, the Brett sisters, and of course her missing besties, "Seems ye got the whole family hare, princess."

"Fammy." Tayalas replied, she liked that word even if she didn't know what it meant exactly, though she knew that it obviously meant those people on her paper, the people she loved who loved her, "Ho fammy."

"An' whose the pretty lass over here?" Gallia asked, pointing to another baby.

"Sedi." Tayalas replied, she missed the other little girl and hoped to see her again soon. She could tell that was making mama sad, so she pointed to another figure, a man in a red suit, "Sana."

Gallia inspected the figure and recognized it as Cdr. Taylor, "Looks mar like Cdr. Taylor to me, baby."

"Mama, Sana." Tayalas said, pointing to his eyes, that was how she recognized him. She looked up with her antennae, mama was still confused, making her wonder if grown-ups couldn't see him when he wasn't in his other suit.

"Okay, darlin', yer probly right." Gallia agreed, "An' who might these be?"

"Orso, Sharlie." Tayalas said, identifying the people who had taken care of her when everyone went away, "Ho fammy."

"That they are, darlin'." Gallia smiled, "I'm gonna make share they all get their very own copy a this. How's that?"

"Sana!" Tayalas cooed, clapping her little hands happily, there was nothing she would like better than that right now. Well, maybe a cookie...

A magnificent post! Warm and compassionate as well as thought provoking in its concept of family as seen through the eyes of a child and the people who are important to her. Written with skill and grace by a writer who is at the top of her craft. This is a must read post.
