Seraphym made her way into counseling for her appointment. She sat in the waiting area to wait.

In his office Savar was notified that his appointment had arrived. Getting up, he went into the small lobby.

He saw a young woman sitting in one of the chairs. "Miss Fitzroy? Come with me please."

Sera stood up and followed the Vulcan officer.

Reaching the office, Savar let Saraphym enter first then he followed closing the doot to ensure their privacy.
"Would you like something from the replicator Miss Fitzroy before we get started?"

"no thank you commander" Sera replied as she took a seat.

"As you wish." Savar replied politely. "And you may call me Savar." He had the PaDD containing her history.
Knew her background and her history and what she had overcome. Seraphym was much stronger than she
appeared.

"That might not be appropriate Sir, I am a second year cadet, and you are a Commander."

If he was offended Savar didn't show it. Instead he replied. "This is my office Miss Fitzroy and you have my
permission to address me by my name. I was attempting to make you comfortable, less ill at ease."

"oh, sorry" she flushed. "Thank you." She added. "I appreciate you taking the time to see me, I know these past few days have been busy for most counseling and medical staff."

"I am a counselor, I am here for you and every member of the crew as are all other counselors and medical personnel." He paused looked at her PaDD briefly, steeling himself against the horrors he had read Seraphym had endured and overcome. "How are you dealing with the approach to
the VOID?"

"It sounds like a very interesting part of space." Sera stated. "I am on the science track and I think that studying it as we travel through it will help us understand why it is totally devoid of light. Could be dark matter, could be blackholes, I am looking forward to it."

"I applaud your outlook Miss Fitzroy. I have talked with many who fear it for a variety of reasons. I hope your study leads to interesting discoveries. How did you come to be involved with science?"

"I always liked exploring things, and i was drawn to figuring things out. I am doing a double major of study at the Academy. Astronomy and Physics."

"Impressive." He remarked and it was to carry a double major meant not just double the workload but more time spent on papers and research. "I commend you. Are you coping satisfactorily?"

"So far yes. I have set goals, something a former counselor taught me to do, and I work towards them. I was not expecting to be assigned to the Elysium's academy after my first year, but it is an honor to be granted that chance." Sera replied.

"Your previous counselor was quite correct Goals give us something to strive for, to obtain. Always have goals Miss Fitzroy. As for being assigned here your grades warrant such an assignment." Savar remarked.

She gave a half smile at that. "Some would argue my past would be enough to keep me out of Starfleet all together."

"I do not hold with that line of thought. Rather I would argue your ability to overcome such obstacles proves you deserve to be here." Savar intoned quietly but firmly.

Sera inclined her head. "I have done my best to put it behind me."

"You have done remarkably well. Do you have training in the art of Vulcan meditation?" Savar questioned.

"Minimalistic. Neither my mother or her family have anything to do with me, and when they did, they didn't if you understand. I have read a bit about it."

"I understand perfectly." Savar remembering what he had read in her file. "I would also add that your reading has paid off quite well."

"I enjoy reading." Sera admitted. "Its a quiet pastime."

"That it is as well as beneficial." Savar concurred with her statement.

Sera gave another small smile, "That said my new roommate seems to be very outgoing, so I am not sure how much quiet time I will be able to get."

"As with anything new, you will adapt and in time you will come to enjoy the noise and activity that comes with your new roomate." Savar promised, "Do not have a closed mind. it leads to dead ends. As no new ideas can enter and grow."

"I understand that. She just ,.." Sera shrugged. "She is lovely, nice friendly, but I don't think she would understand about my past."

"Do not place your feelings on your roommate. You do a disservice to both of you. if your roommate should inquire about your past, you control how much or little you wish to tell her. You must be flexible Miss Fitzroy. Do not allow yourself to become rigid. If you do, then like the mightiest tree you will break in a strong wind."

"Yes sir." She replied softly.

"In regards to your past. Are you troubled by it? Have nightmares?" Savar inquired.

"No, not any more. I don't have nightmares or the like, I just don't spread it around a lot."

"Miss Fitzroy. I am not suggesting you do. It is a part of you. You were not responsible for what happened. However it in part has made you the person you are today. The pastis the past, leave it in the past. However you are responsible for the present and as such only you can decide who you wish to share your past with if any." Savar pointed out.

"okay" Sera said in agreement.

Savar leaned forward. "Miss Fitzroy, be true to yourself. Do not concern yourself with what I or others think. You must be true to yourself."

"I will" she replied. "Its what has kept me going,"

Savar leaned back, "Then I find you reasonably well adjusted to continue in the Starfleet Academy here on the Elysium." Savar informed her.

"Thank you Savar." Sera said softly with a smile.

"You are welcome Miss Fitzroy. Should you ever have questions concerning Vulcan meditation do not hesitate to come find me." Savar told the cadet.

"Thank you" Sera stood, shook his hand and with a smile left his office.

He watched her leave, satisfied if she could maintain her focus the galaxy was going to here great things from Seraphym Fitzroy.
