So you want my office?

Posted on Thu May 13th, 2021 @ 1:56am by Lieutenant Baeryn Whavi-Tonelly & Commander Arrianna Salannis an Vantar

Mission: Season 5: Episode 2: Operation Save Humanity
Location: Second Officer's Office
Timeline: MD2: 1400 Hrs (After Senior Staff Meeting.)
1112 words - 2.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Arrianna spent almost five hours removing all of her possessions from the Second Officer's Office. The Captain did order her to clear out the office, so she did clear out the office. Two hours, she moved the desk and the other furnature out. Then she began to uninstall the replicator, the lighting, and even the consoles. Finally the coup de grace was the light, the bulkheads, and even the gravity plating off the floor.

Mostly she did this because she was pissed. But it was also to annoy the new command staff. Arrianna smiled and left behind a note in the room. 'Good Luck, you're going to need it. SIncerely; Commander an Vantar.'

Baeryn was going through the motions of the sudden change in command. How Carrington had come to the decision to place her as Second Officer was entirely lost on her. Whavi knew she lacked the experience for the position she now held. The move wasn't because she had earned it, no, it was to ruffle feathers and rub her power in everyone's face. Baeryn was nothing more then a pawn.

Making her way to the new office, Baeryn unlocked the door and as it opened to reveal the state in which Commander an Vantar left it, her jaw dropped. Nothing. There was quite literally nothing in the space aside from a note floating amid the no gravity room. Baeryn held onto to the threshold of the entrance and reached in to grab the floating note. Reading it she snickered a snort, pocketed the note, locked the door and tapped her Comm.

"Lt Whavi to Ops."

"Ryver here."

"Ryver, I want a team of engineers assigned to the repairing of the second officers office, immediately."

Ryvers voice was confused, "Your office sir?"

"Get it done Ryver, Whavi out." She snapped as she strode down the corridor.

About three hours or so later after Arrianna was done, she had just installed the replicator in the Chief Science Officer's Office. Which now looked strikingly like the Second Officer's Office. She sat down in her chair and desk and put her feet on the desk. "Computer Access Alindari College of Artisans files. Vinaci Lortis an Coran's Seventh Symphony." She began to relax with the music pouring over her in the room.

Baeryn had a bit of a skip in her step as she neared the Chief Science Officer's office. Nodding and smiling at all personnel she passed in the corridor. Whavi wasn't vindictive by any means, she understood the commanders actions, more so then Arrianna probably knew. But, she was feeling a bit mischievous lately and so.....let the prank wars begin. It was all good fun, wasn't it?

Moments after she gave Ryver the order to dispatch an engineering team she had notified she would be needing assistance with something else first, she wasn't in a hurry to relocate her office anyway.

Beautiful music could be heard from inside the Commanders office where Baeryn stood in the hall. Wearing a smug look she leaned up against the bulkhead and started inspecting her nails for dirt. "Computer, initiate program 'Whavi Off the Rails' in the Chief Science Officers Office now."

The symphony music was instantly cut off, all lights within the room went black and a loud click that signaled the locking of the office door was heard. Baeryn chuckled as and ancient earth rock god's voice boomed from the speakers inside the room.

All aboard Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay

Arri raised her eyebrow as the music played. "Computer, restor the previous music selection."

Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

Then the light show started, flashes of red, blue, white and yellow shot around the room like lasers in sync with the electric guitar that screamed. A couple of science officers walked past with looks of concern. Baeryn could pick up on their uncertainty of whether they should intervene but Whavi simply waved them off. She was waiting for her cue, which came only a couple minutes after the whole ordeal started. The door unlocked and slid open the same time the lights started to come back to life and the music was cut off. In strode Lieutenant Whavi, a satisfied smile on her face as she plopped down in one of the chairs in front of the commanders desk. Tilting her head a bit she addressed Arrianna, "I like what you've done with this space." Lounging back, Whavi crossed one leg over the other, propping both elbows on the arms of the chair as she stared down the commander.

"I weas ordered to clear out my office." Arrianna mentioned. "But I do have advise. Carrington and Lovejoy have learned what betrayal was. They've abandoned every principle of Starfleet and I guarantee you. It is only a matter of time before either I or Gary is assigned to a suicide mission just to get rid of us." Arri noted.

Baeryn dropped the smug act,ā€ Iā€™m not going to let that happen.ā€

"With all due respect, Lieutenant. You're a place holder, at least until Carrington can find someone as souless as Lovejoy to replace you. If you want my best advise. don't give them anything to arrest you on, as you may end up in a secret prison ascendants knows where." Arrianna mentioned. "Secret prisons. Classified charges... Doesn't this remind you of the Cardassian Military? It should, because that is what they want." Arri sighed. "One day Lieutenant.. if everything goes to hell in a handbasket again. I hope we're not on opposite sides. People like them will tear the Federation into two, and I will be on the side that doesn't have secret prisons nor secret trials."

"So then help me. Work with me. I may not have been here long enough to have a bonded significantly with any of you but there should be no questions where my loyalties lie." Baeryn wasn't going to be intimidated into backing into a corner or end up as this bitch captains lacky.

"Give her no reason to remove you from duty. Be careful with her, Very careful." Arri noted. "And make sure this crew does not repeat the Mutiny on the HMS Bounty. I do not want Carrington's point proven in any way. Do you understand?"

"Aye si- I mean yes, I understand." Old habits were going to be hell to break. Baeryn stood, "Just remember I'm not your rival... or your enemy." Baeryn headed for the door.
