Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Commandant Reece's Office
Timeline: (Shortly before Elysium returns to Earth)
1981 words - 4 OF Standard Post Measure

Alicianna approached Kyle's office in her Starfleet JROTC Uniform. She was very much interested in taking her studies to the next level in preparation to applying at Starfleet Academy. First, she had to meet the Commandant, and this was going to be interesting. She walked up to the door and pushed the door chime.

Kyle was busy reading over the reports from his staff and faculty, when his door chime rang. Looking up, he said, "Enter."

A young girl that looked incredibly like Arrianna entered. "Kyle Reece. I am JROTC Cadet Alicianna Salannis an Khardan." She said in the usual calm demeanor of an Alindari.

Kyle archedan eyebrow slightly. Slowly, he stood and an air of anger started to surround him. "First off, Cadet, you will remember your place and rank. When addressing a senior officer, you will stand at attention, unless otherwise ordered. You will also not refer to said senior officers by their names as if we are just sitting around a dinner table. You will refer to me as either, Captain Reece, Commandant or Sir! Do I make myself clear?!"

"Yes. Sir....." Alicia noted in her calm disposition. She already began to hate this ship. She was beginning to rage internally at this man too. One day on the Elysium and most of the people she met, felt like they didn't want her there. "Permission to be dismissed, Sir."

Kyle took a few beats to consider the young woman standing in front of him. After a few beats, he finally responded. "Denied. Have a seat, Cadet. You came here for a reason." He sat back down in his chair, then, when the young woman didn't move, he added some authority to his voice. "Sit!"

The young woman stared at him. In the usual Alindari mental discipline. "I have come to report into you. I did not mean offense, but apparently my improper form of address has offended you. Sir..." She noted. Once again it seemed like people did not want her here. But she wanted to be here. 'Oh no, you are not going to trip me up. I will be a starfleet officer, and there will be nothing you can do to stand in my way. I will remove all obstructions necessary from my path.' She said to herself. She was ambitious, intelligent, secretive, and reclusive. Although, while Arrianna was accommodating and loyal, this version was calculating and ambitious. She knew what she wanted, and how to get it.

Kyle took a moment to look at the girl. Actually look at her. "You know, young lady, before you will ever be in Starfleet, you will have to learn to obey the orders of your superiors." He paused for a few beats. "Sit..down..now" his tone made it clear that he was losing patience with this child.

She sat down and stared at him. Wondering what was going to happen next. She had a feeling a rivalry was about to develop.

The two sat and stared at each other in silence for several long minutes. There was something familiar about this girl, Kyle thought to himself, but, he didn't let it show on his face. He knew how stubborn Alindari women could be. Only problem was, he was more stubborn. He would wait the girl out. While looking at her, he relaxed his eyes, a trick he learned to keep from blinking. The longest staring contest he had ever had, was with his twin brother, Nicholas. It had gone on for nearly three hours, when Nick finally caved.

Alindari were quite stubborn. How else could they survive the Borg. Her resemblance to Arrianna was uncanny. Arri was just as stubborn. But she survived Doryan Kox. Even constantly impressed the hell out of him. This was a teenage version of the same die hard, relentless drive for excellence. But this one was not the disciplined cadet Kyle once knew. She was just starting her journey.

"I want to be a Starfleet officer. Just like my aunt....." her head suddenly turned towards sickbay... she was sensing something, and it was like she was staring at Arrianna through the ship's bulkheads. "Auntie....."

Kyle followed her gaze, though, he only saw the bulkhead. "Who is your Aunt?" He suddenly had the notion of what her answer would be.

"Where is Arrianna?" Alicia suddenly spoke. "Where on this ship is my aunt?" She was feeling something dangerous.

Hearing the name of his friend and former lover, Kyle sat up straighter. "Arri is your aunt?" He quickly querried the computer as to her current location. Seeing that she was in sickbay, Kyle stood and qyickly moved around his desk, heading towards the exit. "With me, Cadet."

Alicia walked with Kyle and at some point, she felt it. "Ugh.... I feel great pain from her... Terror.... Hopelessness..." She narrowed her eyes as she felt her. "What barbarian would do this to her?!?!"

Kyle paused in his motion. "Do what to her?!"

Alicia dropped to her knees. "Oh they hurt her... Tortured her so much." Alicia began punching the floor. "Ast comanial folana sar'cha lan cha Kyle Cragen!!!" It was clear she was in mental contact with Arrianna. (Translation: Curse Kyle Cragen and his entire clan and ship-clan to descension into oblivion. Vanessa would have told Kyle Reece this is a powertful insult.)

Kyle understood the words, both fromwhat Vanessa was teaching him, but also, from what Arrianna had taught him when they had been together. "Let's go!" He helped Alicia off the deck and the pair hurried to sickbay.

Alicianna entered Sickbay. "Where is my aunt?" She asked the first person in sickbay.

Said person happened to be Sthilg who started blankly at the seemingly much younger version of Arrianna yelling at him. " I'm sssorry have we met?" He asked puzzled at the appearance.

"Doc," Kyle spoke first. "This is Cadet Alicianna Salannis an Khardan, Arrianna is her aunt. Alicianna was up in my office when she felt pain from Arri. May we please see her?"

" I'm sssorry my dear, but i've not sssen Arrianna sssince ssshe went AWOL." The lizard lied. Judging by the dent punched in his office wall the news he'd received wasn't standing well with him. He didn't know who he was more angry with the animal who had done that to his friend or their captain for dragging them into this mess.

Alicianna stared at the Commandant and then back at the doctor. "One thing that we Alindari do not understand about outsiders. Why you keep things from each other." She bypassed the doctor and proceeded towards where she sensed Arrianna.

" My dear your wasting your time ssshe isssn't here. " The gorn replied honestly.

"I've already been speaking to her doctor." Alicianna noted.

" Well, surely she could tell you she isn't here," Sthilg replied.

Kyle, beginning to get agrivated, spoke up. "Then where is she, Commander. And before you lie to a superior ranked officer and fellow department head, bear in mind that Alindari are telepathic. Alicia could not sense her aunt if she wasn't close by, on the ship."

" I don't know. " The gorn replied calmly before speaking again. =^= Computer run a scan and locate com....=^= he began before correcting himself. =^= Arrianna Salannis an Vantar. =^=

After a short, while the ship's computer chimed in =^= Unable to comply Arrianna Salannis an Vantar is not on the ship and currently wanted for being absent without leave.=^=

" There my dear. Are you sssatisssfied? Look i know your worried about your aunt. If i hear anything you'll be the firssst to know." The gorn replied giving her a warm smile.

Alicianna looked like she was staring at Arrianna's room. "Are you sure?" She said to no one in particular... "Arlight...." She then turned to the others. "She needs to stay in the secured medical suite.. Lives are at stake." The fifteen year old noted. If someone knows she's here, the lives of certain individuals will be in peril." Alicia noted. "She cannot see me right now." She then left.

Kyle was feeling a bit dumbstruck by the abruptness of Alicianna's departure. After she left, he sighed and shook his head, embarrassment starting to cross his features. Turning to face Sthilg, he extended his right hand to him and said, "Sthilg, my apologies. I sometimes forget just how much Alindari, female Alindari can drive a guy nuts. Please accept my apologies for accusing you of any wrongdoing, Sir." Even though Kyle technically outranked the CMO, he included the formal title at the end out of respect for the elder Gorn.

" It'sss quite alright sssir. " The gorn replied as he took the hand. It felt like someone had stabbed him in the heart for not being able to tell the truth. " Ssshe'sss a young girl worried about her aunt. Has there been any newsss of Arrianna?" Sthilg said putting on his best reassuringly grandfather voice.

Kyle released the handshavk after a few slight shakes, then sighed again, shaking his head. He realized that Sthilg was following his Hippocratic Oath, by not admitting that Arri was here. He decided to play along. "No, as far as I know, she is still listed as AWOL. Both her and her partner, Josephine." Taking in a breath, he asked, can we speak privately?"

The doctor nodded and headed for quarantine rooms. Closing the door he turned to the captain. " Okay what do you want to ssspeak about?" he said his serious face being donned.

Once he knew that no one, not even Avalon could hear them, Kyle replied. "Okay, for one, off the record, I know Arri here. She and I formed a bond, years ago, when we were a couple, back during our junior and senior years at the Academy. We both served on the USS Talleyrand for our cadet cruises. That's where we met." He took a breath and continued. "Now, while the bond has weakened over the years apart, I can still feel her, when we are in close proximity. Please let her know, when she is able, I need to see her. Outside of here, I will continue on that she is AWOL. However, she is very dear to me, and I only want to ensure that she is safe."

The gorn let out a slight sigh and nodded. " You don't have to tell me, captain. Ssshe'sss my friend and what'sss been done to her is something I wouldn't whisssh on anyone. Pleassse try and keep Alicianna from ripping the ssship apart trying to find her."

Kyle grunted a short laugh. "Have you never seen a determined Alindari woman?" He let out a dark chuckled. "I do what I cam. But please, tell Arri that we need to see her." He stood and extended his right hand to the Gorn. "Thank you for everything you are doing."

" I will asss sssoon asss I think ssshe can have visitorsss. Ssshe'sss been through a lot." The gorn said, letting the tiredness in his voice show. He extended his hand and gave it his regular firm handshake.

"Thank you, Sir," Kyle said respectulfully. "That's all I can ask. Now, I think I should go find a certain young Alindari." He released Sthilg's hand and then reached up and gave the older officer a friend squeeze on his right shoulder. "If she needs anything, please don't hesitate to call me." He gave the Gorn an honest grin, then turned and left the office, leaving the CMO to his very important work of helping their mutual friend.

The gorn sighed as Kyle left as he collapsed onto the room's chair. This whole business was getting to him. Waiting until the pair had gone and were several floors away he headed for the room he was keeping Arri. He'd need to give her something to calm her down.

A very nice story. I do like the writing and the inter-relationships are starting to come into focus. Thank you for the read!
