Samaire had gotten notice that her family had finally left the family estate and the legal stuff was finished in her and Skylah's favour, so with shore leave approved, she packed the family's bags for a trip to the Family Estate. She sent Liam a message as she packed the cat into the cat carrier.

Having just signed out for shore leave, Liam smiled when he received the message from his lovely wife. After pulling out his small PADD, he typed a quick response.

I just signed out! On my way home now, my love! See you in a bit.

Love,

-Me

He then sent the message and hurried to the nearest turbolift.

Samaire finished packing their belongings and placed the cat carrier beside them beside the cabin door.

Skylah was sprawled on the floor reading in the lounge.

Receiving the note, Sam smiled.

A few minutes later, good to his word, Liam entered their home. "I'm home, my lovelies!" He called out happily.

Skylah grinned and jumped up from her place on the floor. "Yes! Can we go now?" she asked eagerly.

Laughing softly at her excited energy, Liam stepped over and scooped Skylah up into his arms, spinning her a bit, before replying. "Are you all packed. Little Miss?"

Skylah grinned. "Yup. Though Samaire did it for me"

"As normal" came her aunt's dry reply from where she was standing.

Liam looked over to his beautiful wife and smiled even brighter. "Well now, we will just have to teach you how to start doing things yourself, won't we, Little Miss?" He asked jokingly, as he started to lightly tickle her.

Skylah giggled and squirmed away "okay!" she squealed and darted for her Aunt.

Liam chuckled softly as he followed her and playfully put his hands on his hips as he tried to act like he was in charge to Samaire. "And you, young lady? Have you done everything you need to do," he then leaned closer and whispered, "or do I need to put you over my knee and spank you?"

Samaire kissed his cheek. "Everything is completed. Shuttle leaves in 20."

Liam chuckled softly, then said aloud, "Well then! We better boogie! Don't want to waste a single moment on the ship, when we could be down on Terra Firma." He reached over and tapped a control, beaming their luggage to the shuttle, then, after picking up the pet carrier, he said to his ladies, "Shall we?"

Skylah nodded and skipped to his side.

Samaire nodded and linked her arm through his free one. "Lead on kind sir."

The happy family made their way down to the main shuttlebay and, twenty minutes later, they were launching from the ship and heading down to Scotland.

"So," Liam whispered into Samaire's left ear. "As you are now, fully and legally a Scottish land owner, does that mean I can call you Lady Reece now?" He grinned as he spoke.

She gave him a smile and arched an eyebrow at him."Maybe I should call you Lord Reece?" she suggested back. "Courtesy Titles remember can be shared."

He arched his right eyebrow and considered that for a moment. "Lord Reece....I kinda like the sound of that," he grinned happily, then leaned back in and gently kissed Samaire's cheek. "You just wait till tonight, Lady Reece."

Samaire smirked and sat back as the shuttle hit the atmosphere and began its extended descent. Soon, she would be back in Kintyre, back home.. she had missed it to be sure.

Liam reached over and gently held his wife's hand, as his other arm, was wrapped around Skylah as she sat on his lap, her head on his shoulder. Liam looked down at her and gently kissed her forehead. "Are you excited, sweetie?"

"Uh huh. Be nice to see the house again" Skylah replied cheerfully. "There are stables there too."

"There are?" He asked, mirroring her level of excitement. "Well now, you'll have to show me around then."

Skylah nodded eagerly. "Of course!"

Samaire smiled and closed her eyes as the shuttle banked to the left as it came in to land.

A few moments later, the shuttle had landed and the young family was beginning to remove their bags. "It looks beautiful here, Sam!" Liam stated with a happy grin on his face.

Sam smiled and carrying her bag, led the way out of the shuttle.

Skylah skipped behind her as they stepped out onto the gravel of the shuttle padd.

Waiting for them, an elderly man stood, leaning on a heavy wooden walking stick. He wore McBride Tartan over his jacket. As the group moved towards him, he raised his bearded face. And he studied the woman, man and child.

"Samaire McBride?" he all but boomed as they got closer

"Aye" Sam replied calmly. "Mr Alastair McBride?"

The man nodded. He was a distant descendant who had not be apart of the situation. He stepped forward and held out his hand "Good to see you Ma'am."

"Please, its Samaire,or Sam" Sam said shaking his hand. "My husband Liam, and My niece Skylah."

Alastair nodded and held out his hand to Liam "Welcome."

Liam reached out and accepted the firm handshake, giving one of his own in reply. "Thank you, Sir. If I may ask, what is that you do here on the estate?"

"I am the Estate Manager." He replied gruffly "It's hereditary and I have no claim to the estate. I am under the command of whoever is Laird or Lady."

Looking over at Samaire, Liam grinned slightly. "That would be you, My Lady Reece."

"Oh shush," Sam said her cheeks red.

"He'd be correct Ma'am," Alastair said noting her blush. "Now, come this way, let's get you all into the house."

House, was one word for the massive castle that stood high on the hill. Sam's eyes took it in, she had been born within the walls of the castle, had grown up there. "Home," she murmured.

Liam took in the sight of the castle. While he knew his childhood home was old, Samaire's was definitely much much older. "Wow," he exclaimed quietly. "How long has this estate been in your family again, Babe?"

"Since the 1300's they say it was granted by Robert The Bruce in 1306, but the Castle has been here since the time of Mary Queen of scots." Samaire said "With more recent add in the Georgian and Victorian times."

Liam's eyes grew wide as he listened. "Holy cow! My home was only built in the early 1950s, and it's been reworked, rebuilt and modernized so much, I'm not sure what is left that is original." His eyes moved over the estate, or at least, what he could see at the moment. "The entire property of my childhood home could fit in the landing pad alone, with room to spare!"

"Back in the day the entire clan lived on the estate, and servants were everywhere" Alastair said as he led the way to the house and up the large front steps. "Now days cleaning is done by drones and there is only minimal staff, though up until recently, the family insisted on having a full staff."

"How recently?" Samaire asked curiously. "My father only had a staff of about 15."

"Just after you were found My Lady, they reduced the staff from 50 to 10." Alastair replied.

Sam sighed. "Oh dear."

Liam, hoping he wasn't speaking out of turn, spoke up. "Alastair, while we certainly don't require a huge staff to care for us, I feel...and please forgive me if I'm wrong...an estate like this, with the history it has, should be cared for by human hands, and not drones."

"Aye That is true, hence why, her lady's father had 15 people, we are not against using technology. 40 of those that were here rarely did anything to be honest. Those that remain are the ones that I chose to keep because they are good at their jobs." Alastair replied as the doors opened and he led the family inside.

Liam nodded as he listened. Then, when the doors were opened, his eyes grew big again as he took in the formal foyer. "Woah! This is...I mean...wow!"

Skylah laughed and raced off. "Skylah no running!" Sam called after her niece as she watched her head for the far end of the entrance way, knowing she was heading for the backdoors and the yard beyond.

Samaire turned to Alastiar. "Is the playset still outside?"

"Yes Ma'am." he replied and then said "Yes Sam."

She smiled.

He cleared his throat. "I Set up the Countess's rooms for you My Lady, You and your husband should be comfortable there."

Sam nodded. "And for Skylah?"

"The Chinese suite" Alastair replied.

Sam smiled. "She will like that. I will show Liam around and ..."

"Lunch at 13h00?" Alastair suggested.

"In the family sitting room upstairs if that is ok?" Sam asked and the man nodded. He turned and headed off to make the arrangements.

Liam was still looking around the massive room. "You grew up here? What you told me on the holodeck, when we were in my room, didn't give it enough umph!" He smiled at her and asked, "and this is all yours and Skylah's now?"

"Held in trust for future generations" She said softly. "You can see why they did not want to give it up." She linked her arm through his. "Come, I will show you to our new rooms." She led him to the staircase and started up it.

He followed her, asking questions about the various portraits and other artwork that they passed. "So, Al said he put us in the Countess's rooms. Was that your mother?"

"Yes, she was my father's second wife." Samaire said as they paused outside the chamber. "But she never liked these rooms."

"Why not?" Liam couldn't understand how someone couldn't just love this place. As he had that thought, another occured to him. "Uh, Sam? I was wondering...when my parents get older...and can't take care of themselves anymore...." he suddenly felt like he was intruding on her family's heritage by even thinking about the question.

She smiled and nodded "If they wish it." She drew him into the large room. "My mother disliked it because my father would confine her here."

He remembered her telling him about that chapter in her family, but, and he was ashamed by this, he couldn't recall the finer details. "I'm sorry, Honey. Why did he do it again? I ashamed to admit that I can't remember at the moment."

"Because my father was dictator who hated the fact that my mother didn't love him. She married him due to parental pressure. No other reason. She bore me, out of duty, and my sister Skye, is .. was not my father's daughter." she turned and looked around the room. "So he kept her under lock and key."

Liam moved over to his bride and held her gently, protectively. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart!" He exclaimed quietly. He then just stood there, silent, as he consoled her with his love.

A few minutes later, he broke the silence with an attempt at humor. "I promise, I will only lock you up on our bed, and when you ask me to."

She gave him a smile and a soft laugh. "Hmm interesting thoughts there, but today we need to settle in and such."

Nodded and returning her smile, Liam replied. "Of course. And after we unpack, I'm seriously gonna need a tour of your...our home. Otherwise, I'm liable to get lost one night, never to be found again!" He chuckled softly as he spoke.

"Well let me show you around this room." She said. "To our right is the dressing room and closet with the bathroom. Also there is an entrance to a large sitting room. Beyond that is the room, the Laird normally uses. But We don't need to use it. And over in that corner" she pointed to the left near a window seat. "Is what they call the boudoir. Its a small sitting room with fireplace."

Liam followed Samaire's brief tour, then asked, "Okay, two questions. One, what or who is a Laird? And two, why would we not use the room? Aren't all the rooms here for us to ise?" He was still coming to terms with just how much came with his beautiful wife.

"Means Lord. Or in this case Earl." Samaire replied. "My fathers room."

Liam nodded. Then, he had a questioning look on his face again, and he turned to his wife. "So....if your father was an Earl, what does that make you? And, in addition to that, as your husband....um....do....do I now have a title of some sort?" He was honestly trying to wrap his head around things in this new world he had entered.

"You can if you want, but normally it's hereditary. "

Taking a moment to think about Samaire's statement, Liam finally nodded. "So I'd be the Lady's Consort, while our children would have titles....I'm good with that." He Iles at her as he moved closer and embraced her lovingly.

Samaire snuggled into his arms. "We can make this work" she said softly.

"So long as we're together, my love," he replied in a whisper, "We can do anything."

Samaire nodded and took a breath. "Come, I shall show you where Skylah will be staying," She said and pulled back to let the cat out of her carrier.

As Seraph exited her carrier, Liam reached down and gently scratched her behind her right ear. He then followed Samaire out into the hall. "How many people could live here, using the spaces as designed?"

"Depends on the era. Sometimes in medieval times, families could number in the 30's. In the 1800's the Laird's family was the only ones on this floor. And other floors were for guests."

Liam nodded as he listened. "Would you want to leave Starfleet and come live here full time? Or just have this waiting for us when we retire?" He reached out and took her hand as they walked.

"I like my job" Samaire replied as they walked down the hall to the room set aside for Skylah. "Maybe one day I might not, but for now, retirement and vacations is what I see this for."

Liam nodded and smiled as he listened. "I agree completely, my love. We're both too young to stop our adventures out in space." He pulled her into a side embrace and chuckled as he quietly whispered into her right ear, "We've still got plenty of years for me to chase you around our castle."

She laughed "Oh yes plenty of time." She kissed him and moved to show him Skylah's room. "Skylah's room" She said as she opened the door to the Chinese Suite.

Looking around, Liam took in the decor. "Very bright, cheerful colors in here," he smiled as he took it all in.

"Was my old room." Samaire said softly.

Looking back at her quickly, Liam then turned his attention back to the room, giving it a closer examination as he moved about the space. "Definitly bigger than my old room," he said with a chuckle.

"Yeah but your room has way more places for self expression." Samaire said softly.

Looking over at Samaire, Liam replied eith a grin. "How about we end that little tradition of your father's? As this will be her space, we let Skylah decorate it as she likes? The same goes for any of our future children?"

"Its not just his tradition Liam. The house has heritage listing." Sam sighed. Then her eyes sparkled. "Did you see the massive four poster in our room?"

Liam frowned slightly. He felt bad that Skylah wouldn't be able to truly make the space hers. Then he arched an eyebrow. "You know I did," he gave her a flirty smirk as he spoke

"Well then I do hope you are creative Love" she kissed him lightly on the mouth. "Come there is more to see."

Returning the kiss, Liam growled softly. "You know I am, sweetheart!" He then caught up to her and playfully grabbed her left button cheek, giving it a firm squeeze. "Are you," he countered with a smirk.

"You know I am" she smirked back at him. "But after Skylah is in bed."

"Oh, of course," Liam gave he a serious look as he spoke but quickly, his grin broke back through. "And I am definitely looking forward to our first night in that huge bed! It's bigger than my old bunkroom was on the Elysium!"

Samaire smiled. "Bigger than our bed on the Elysium as well." She said as she linked her arm through his and they walked around the house.

"True indeed!" He smiled in reply. "So, what are going to show me next?"

Samaire considered it and then turned to the stairs. "Come I will show you my favorite room." she said leading him to the stairs and up to the forth floor.

"You mean, other than our bedroom?" He chuckled softly as he followed right behind her.

When they reached the third floor she turned and led him up the other staircase known as the red stair hall. And when they exited they came out near a door. "This is called the South Tower Room." She opened the door revealing a large bedroom suite. "I always wanted this room as a child." she said softly.

Looking around the large room, Liam was amazed by the beautiful craftsmanship that went into building it. "Wow!" He said softly. "I can see why you wanted it. It's beautiful! Who's room was it?"

"No one's. A guest room I guess. My father never wanted us up here."

"Why not?" When Liam was growing up, his home was open for everyone to go through and enjoy. Granted, there would be times when privacy was observed, but, no room was labeled as forbidden to enter.

"Am not sure. Maybe my brother would have found out but I won't ever know." Samaire moved through the room and into the sitting room. "I snuck in here often but could find no reason for the restriction."

He moved through the room with her, then stepped up behind her, putting his arms around her as he pulled her back against his chest. "I guess we only have one option then," he said matter-of-factly.

"oh?" she asked curiously as she leaned back against him.

Nodding, he whispered hotly into her right ear. "To drive out the negative energies, we have no choice but to christen each and every room in this castle."

She gave a soft laugh. "oh? Really? And how would we do that, there are way too many rooms"

"Hey," he said with a soft, hungry chuckled. "I'm up for the challenge...are you?" He teased her slightly.

Sam grinned at him. "Maybe. Though, I had a thought about moving us up here, so not to disturb people."

Liam grinned and started to slowly slide his hands over the front of Samaire's body. "You won't have to bury your screams in a pillow up here."

"no indeed" Sam turned to face him "Is it a thought?"

"I dare say, it's a decision, my Lady." He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in for a kiss.

Sam kissed him back enjoying being in his arms, alone in private high above the rest of the house.

Slowly, the pair moved over to the large Gothic bed. Liam broke contact long enough to turn towards the bed and pulled down the thick down comforter and top sheet. He then turned back to Samaire and started to pull his shirt off.

She smiled and began to strip off her own clothes. "Here is hoping they keep Skylah busy downstairs." She said softly.

"Agreed!" He said as he reached forward and started undoing her pants.

Samaire helped him undo her pants and then undid his with a smile. She was enjoying this time with him. And once her pants and underwear joined her other clothing on the floor she stepped up and kissed him.

Returning the kiss with equal passion, Liam pulled Samaire towards him as he laid back on the bed. "Have I told you how phenomenally sexy you are?"

Sam smiled at him and snuggled against him. "So you tell me often, I think you need your eyes checked." She whispered as she kissed him.

Inhaling deeply when she kissed him, Liam moved his hands over his wife's smooth, bare skin. "There's nothing wrong with my eyesight, my love."

"Hmm i think the doctor should check them though." She ran her hands through his hair. "You are handsome though. "

He smiled warmly down at Samaire. It still amazed him that such a woman, who was clearly way out of his league, had chosen him to spend her life with. If it took him the rest if his days, he would make sure she knew just how much she was loved and desired. "I love you, Sam," he said, the smile falling from his face as the heavy emotion took over, it was clear just how much he hungered for her.

"I love you Liam." Sam whispered to him. "And one day we will be able to live here full time. "

He smiled lovingly at her. "It doesn't matter, to me, where we live. Wherever you and Skylah are, that is where my home is "

Sam grinned and kissed him. "Now we have this big bed... are we continuing this?"

His eyes widened slightly, he then lowered himself down onto his beautiful wife and they began making passionate love with each other.

A while later, Samaire lay curled up against him. "Hmm why does this never get old?" she asked softly.

Liam grinned softly as he lazily ran the fingertips of his right hand up and down Samaire's bare spine. "Because we found the right people to do it with."

"True" She sighed "We should get showered and head down. The staff will have looked after Skylah but we have to show our faces, spend time with her and I will have our things moved up here, though it is going to be far from her."

With his free hand, Liam brought it up to Samaire's chin and gently lifted her eyes to him. "Honey, we have the rest of our lives to enjoy this room. It's a new place...if you would feel more comfortable being closer to Sky, that's fine with me. Whatever helps you both be comfortable is what matters most to me."

"I know. Though as she grows older she may want the privacy from us." She nuzzled his hand and went to sit up.

"True, but that's not today. Today, she is our little girl and we must put her needs first...for now," he added with a grin. He then sat up and leaned in to gently kiss the side of Samaire's neck.

"Liam.." Sam said softly as she shivered beside him. "Oh please... we need to get moving..."

Grinning slightly, he relented. "Just making sure those fires stay stoked for later, my love." He climbed out of bed and offered her his hand, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"I don't think you need to do any stoking" she said as she let him pull her from the bed.

He continued to grin happily. "Just making sure. Wouldn't want you to go after that guy in security you told me about," he said, playfully teasing her.

She rolled her eyes. "Oh please no. He looked down on women." she walked past him and headed to the bathroom.

Liam caught up to Samaire and scooped her up in his arms. "Then I guess you're stuck with me. I promise that the only time that I will look down at you, will be...when...." he winked at her, hoping she got his inference.

"oh you are hilarious" she wrapped her arms around his neck "Shower" she said with a smile.

He smirked happily as he carried her into the massive shower stall. He moved to set her down on a large bench along the back wall of the stall. He then got the water going and wet himself down.

She joined him under the spray pressing against him as she moved around the stall reaching for the shower gel and loofas

Feeling Samaire press her perfect body up against his, Liam started to become aroused again. Reaching out, he too some shampoo and started to wash her long, thick hair.

Sam moaned as he did that and leaned back against him as the water poured down on them.

For several long, luxurious moments, Liam massaged Sam's scalp. He then carefully rinsed all of the shampoo out thoroughly, before he added he favorite conditioner in. "Does that feel good, my love?"

"hmmm who are you again?" she asked with a moan. "I cannot think."

Liam leaned and, smiling, whispered into her right ear, "I'm the man who is going to make your toes curl for the rest of his life."

"Hmm okay sounds great." She whimpered as she shifted under the water.

Liam grinned. As she now had conditioner in her hair, he was careful not to slip as he spent the next thirty minutes doing just as he promised.

Hours later after dinner and Skylah was tucked up in bed, Samaire showed Liam around the grounds in the evening light. There were solar lamps throughout the gardens and grounds, giving enough light for them to see by.

Liam looked around at everything Samaire showed him. "It truly is beautiful here, Sam!"

"Its home" she said softly. "It has always been no matter where we have been. California never felt like home."

"Speaking of," he responded as they continued to walk hand in hand. "What will you do with the Monterey house, now that you have reclaimed your birthright?"

"I am not sure. It is ours, and Skylah may want it when she is older. I think I will keep it for now."

Liam nodded as he listened. "That sounds like a great idea." He then remembered something. Looking over at Samaire, he said, "Sam, Sky still wants a tree house. Do we have any good trees for that here? And, if we do, after it's built, what do you think about scanning it all, so we can access it on the holodeck anytime she wants to play one it, while we aren't here?" He grinned a little. "I'm sure her little friend Hendor might like it too."

He chuckled softly, thinking of how obvious and cute it was that the little Charles boy was clearly smitten with their little girl.

"Down by the creek that feeds the ornamental lake around the back of the house are several large trees that would be perfect." Sam replied pointing "And I am sure they both would have a grand old time"

Liam smiled as he pulled Samaire into his left side, putting his arm around her back to rest on her left hip. "So, tell me, what are your thoughts on the two of them?"

"They are good friends. They are 5 year olds, nearly 6, let them be children and friends. They may grow up disliking each other you never know."

Liam chuckled. "I know, sweetheart. I'm not trying to force anything. I just think they look very cute together."

"They do." Samaire smirked at him.

Smiling, Liam leaned in and kissed Samaire. They then continued to walk to grounds of the estate, as she showed him everything that now belonged to the both of them.

You are correct - that IS a nice ass house. :)

Coupla' queries:

That house must have an enormous budget for things like Pledge and Window cleaner. Have you found that Windex works better? Or do you guys use a more budget friendly window cleaner?

What about Swiffering? I can imagine that there is alot of dusting to be done?

Lastly, Keeping a joint like that heated in the wintertime - do you heat just portions of it where you live? Or do you kind of do a rotation? So that the whole house gets some kind of heating at some point during the colder months?
