Sthilg knew it was begging before his combadge even rang. Some deep pit inside him could tell the moment he'd been dreading and hoping for was here. His little ones were coming.

=^= is it time? =^= he said into the comm badge already knowing the answer.

“It’s time alright!” Alicia’s response was direct and to the point. “They’re taking mum to Sickbay now.”

" I'll get ssset up. " Sthilg yelled back as he burst into one of the operating rooms which he had everything he needed neatly organised against the wall.

" It'sss going to be alright." He hissed to himself as he got to work.

The doors opened a few minutes later, Deanna offering the best smile she could muster given that she’d been fearing this moment for a while. “I guess they didn’t want to wait any longer” She offered. “Seems my blood pressure is higher than it’s supposed to be.” She gave a more worried look than she intended to.

Standing outside Alicia could only wait now, knowing her father would do everything to make sure his family was delivered safely.

Sthilg was relieved his fingers weren't shaking as he injected in some drugs to lower his wifes pressure. " Everything'sss going to be okay." He said softly, remembering the picture in the cylinder around his neck. They were alive in the future. Everything was going to be alright.

Deanna placed her hand on her husband’s feeling his concern and his resolve. “We’ll be okay, you do what you need to do to bring our children into this universe.”

" I know my love. Just lay back and relax. You'll need your ssstrength when the contractionsss ssstart," he replied as he gripped her hand taking strength from her.

Deanna nodded, she knew what giving birth was like and she had been dreading this for a while, she was just glad to have Sthilg there with her.

Sthilg nooded gently releasing her hand as he looked at the readings. " Everything'sss looking okay. Jussst keep breathing my love."

Deanna nodded. She was trying to keep her composure, heavens knew why, giving birth wasn’t something that you could keep your composure whilst doing. It didn’t take long before the discomfort of labour began to really sink in.

" Looksss like our daughter is very eager to join us." Sthilg said as he looked at the incoming results of his scans. " Jussst breath in and out my love." He said squeezing his fiancée's hand.

Deanna nodded. “Is our son alright?” She gave him a concerned look as Sthilg hadn’t mentioned their other baby.

" Look'sss like he wantsss an extra long sssleeep in." Sthilg said calamly witha slight grin forming on his face. " He'sss fine my dear."

Deanna nodded before squeezing Sthilg’s hand hard, her daughter was definitely in a hurry to be born and she wasn’t waiting around.

Everything going to be..... Sthilg's mind thought as his mind began to run into deep dark memories. Of a small child who never....

With a cry that would wake the dead, his daughter slowly came into this world. The gorn worked with all the skills of one of the universe's best doctors, keeping his daughter's mouth clear as she cried all the way until she was wrapped in a foil blanket.

Sthilg was quiet as he looked at the small bundle of flesh in his hands. His daughter alive and well. " A fine ssset of lungsss" he said as he handed her to her mother.

Deanna couldn’t help but shed happy tears as she cradled her daughter, but the moment was short lived as their son decided he was ready to join his sister.

“Here, let me” Alicia smiled underneath her face mask as she gently took her newly born sister from her mother’s arms. “You are beautiful” she moved aside to allow Sthilg and his staff to do their jobs.

The gorn held his breath as his mind ran through all the prayers to whichever god would listen as, slowly, his son came into the world. As he carefully wiped the blood from his son face, he held his breath for what felt like an eternity as he waited for a sound from the hybrid.

It felt like an eternity before a small and soft cry came from the small bundle in his arms.

He let out the breath as he collapsed onto a chair, clutching his son tightly to his chest.

Alicia breathed out a breath she hadn’t realised she was holding as her little brother let out his first cry. “Congratulations mum! And you too dad!” She smiled at Sthilg feeling his relief.

“Can I…see him?” Deanna was exhausted, but she wasn’t going to rest until she’d seen her son as well.

The groom nodded as he carefully handed his son to his love, a soft smile across his face as inside he prayed to any god who would listen. Not this time.

Deanna smiled as she held her son, two miracles that she had never imagined would ever happen. “He's wonderful.”

“They’re both amazing” Alicia added as she brought her baby sister closer so both twins could be close.

Sthilg smiled as he took a water bottle and downed the thing in one gulp before reaching for another. As he downed the second one, he reached out, letting his newborn children grip his fingers. " They are perfect my love." He said, looking at Deanna.

“They have a perfect father” Deanna smiled before yawning, to say she was tired was an understatement.

“Have you decided on names?” Alicia asked curiously, wanting to know what to call her new siblings.

" Acuzin and leidral. " The gorn said, gesturing to his daughter and then his son.

Alicia nodded. “Unusual but I like those names. I’ve just got to get used to using them now.”

Sthilg smiled as his big arms wrapped around his family. For one moment, everything had gone perfectly.
