When the pods reached the Elysiums shields, they were caught briefly, before pushing through. Each one then slammed onto the hull at various locations on Elysium, the spinning drill heads digging into the solid duranium hull plating as if it was thin aluminum.
::The bridge shook again as the pods slammed against the Elysium’s duranium plating. The sound of drilling reverberated through the decks.::
As soon as the pods latched on, the front hatches irised open and the hounds poured out, attacking anyone nearby, killing everyone in front of them.
As soon as the pods connected with the hull, new alarm klaxons began ringing through the ship. "Breach! Intruder alert!! We have breaches on decks five, eight, ten, fifteen and twenty!"
David was sitting in his office when the alert alarms started going off. As soon as they started ringing, he pressed a control on his desk, which sent out a prepeogrammed instruction to seal his daughter's crib/escape pod, and transport it to the nearest emergency bunkers. Once that was done, he turned his focus to the task at hand, protecting the ship and crew, and repelling the enemy.
Standing, he moved to a hardened locker he had had installed in his office. Inside, were his collection of weapons and power armor. He might not currently be serving in a Starfleet Marine unit, however, he was still a Marine, so he was always ready for battle.
As he got ready, he opened comms to the entire academy grounds. "Attention, all hands! We have intruders! All cadets, report to your emergency stations! All instructors, report to the Academy armory and draw weapons!"
Having swapped shift with someone else Heather was in her quarters with her family, making sure her children were safe was her first priority as she quickly grabbed a phaser from the drawer in her room and moved both Cody and Caitlin to the bathroom just off the main bedroom. At least that way if anything got in there’d be two more doors to get through before it could reach them.
Hearing the intruder alert, Savar started for his and Alicia's quarters but stopped as he came upon Heather's and Fernando's quarters, taking a chance he tapped on the door. Heather? it is Savar. Let me in." He urgently requested.
Hearing a tap on the door and Savar’s voice Heather moved quickly to open the door and let him in. “Commander am I glad to see you!”
Savar ducked quickly inside and shut and locked the door. He turned to heather, "And I am glad to see you as well Heather. As to what is happening, we are being boarded. We must take action to save the ship, our crewmates and ourselves." He looked at her phaser. "By chance do you have another?"
“Erm..” Heather paused. “There might be another in with Fernando’s things.” She motioned to the bedroom. “Savar I have my children here, I can’t just go and leave them unguarded and I can’t take them out there..”
"I understand Heather, I am a father and I know of your reluctance to move them. However it may be that we have to move them to get to a more secure location."
In the Academy, David had rounded the cadets and a few of the other teachers up and, after a few moments, had weapons issued to everyone. Looking out over the group, he spoke aloud. "I know most of you haven't even begun your weapons training, and im sorry to have to rush you through it now, but we are under attack, and theres no time!" He then quickly instructed the cadets on how to properly handle, aim, and fire the hand phasers they had been issued.
"Stay in groups of three, supporting and covering each other, should the enemy rush us!" As if on cue with David's words, the far doors leading from the quad put into the ship, exploded inward and four hideous monstrosities lurched inside, followed by another, unaltered Galatonian.
"Form up!" David shouted as he raised his sniper rifle and fired, the energy blasts hitting an energy shield in front of one of the beasts.
The hounds howled in mindless rage, then advanced, firing nasty looking projectiles as the group as they advanced.
The Academy chef and four of his students went down, having been struck with the projectiles. The chef was instantly dead, having took one in his face. One of his students, a young Klingon woman was dead as well, a projectile having pierced her throat and struck her spinal cord. The other three where on the ground, crying out in pain as they held the doors they had been hit.
"Open fire!" David shouted again.
Meanwhile Heather had taken Savar’s advice, grabbing her children she and Savar had ventured out to find a safer area. What met them was anything but a pleasant site, it was more something from a horror movie. “Take them…” Heather looked to Savar. “Take my children to safety, I can’t just leave people lying wounded and dying!”
"No." Savar answered firmly. "Your children need you right now. We do not know where Fernando is or how he is. I will not deprive the children of their mother. Your compassion is admirable. Let us get to a safe place, hopefully find Fernando and then we can return here."
Before the group could move another group of cadets came around the corner. Led by a bleeding blond, Cadet Junior Grade Clary Henderson, the group was wounded, and staggering.
Clary looked at the group and said "Sirs, more enemies coming this way." But whatever else she was going to say, ended as a bolt exploded through her back and out her chest. She slumped to the deck, dead. Behind her group was another 4 hounds.
Heather gasped her fears not for herself but for her children. She looked around for somewhere to go. “There!” She pointed to the nearest Jeffries tubes access, but they couldn’t all get inside in the time they had.
Savar grabbed the children and pulled Heather to the tube access. Pulling the tube hatch aside he literally pushed Heather and the children inside and quickly scrambled in after her, pulling the hatch closed. "Move! Up the ladder we must distance ourselves."
As Savar and Heather got the children inside, the cadets turned and started to fire, putting down another of the beasts. As one of the cadets watched, the Jeffries tube hatch was shut. "They left us! They fucking left us!" She squealed in panic.
Suddenly, from a cross corridor, several phaser blasts erupted, nailing the beasts against their unprotected flanks, killing them quickly. When it was done, David and a group of cadets and instructors stepped into view, looking at the carnage. When David's eyes fell upon the corpse of Cadet Henderson, he left out a breath. He was so very tired of losing people. Ever since they came to this galaxy, all they've done is lose friends and loved ones. When would it finally stop?
Looking up at the other cadets that his group had just saved, he spoke to them in a commanding, yet oddly gentle voice. "Report your status, Cadet Davidson," he said to the nearest female cadet in science blue.
"We came around the corner sir, we were being attacked... Clary just got shot. . Two officers were here... well one was, a counselor, the vulcan one, and the other was a medical officer... I think she is a nurse I think i saw her in medical once or twice. They saw Clary die and then they dove into the tube and left us here!"
Hearing this news troubled David considerably. However, now was not the time to worry about Starfleet officers acting in the way that those two had been described. "Alright, everyone!" David spoke up so he could be heard. "We are going to double back to the Academy, and lock it down! There are noncombatant civilians in the emergency shelter there, and we will protect them." He turned back and indicated that everyone should follow him. The group then doubletimed it back to the Academy Annex and David has those that were injured go to the shelter to get treatment. The rest, he set them all up in a semicircle infrastructure of the entrance, ensuring everyone had suitable cover and were armed. He knew trouble was headed their way, he could hear the vibrations of the creatures as they made their way to where he had his cadets and instructors were waiting.
"Remember, the beasts seem to only have shielding directly in front of them, also try to get flanking shots. And watch out for those dame bolt things that they shoot. You dont want to become shishkabob."
The Cadets nodded and joined his group in silence.

In the Jeffries tube Heather paused long enough to look back. “What about the cadets!? We left them behind Savar! They could be dying out there!!”
Savar glanced back down the tube, no one else was entering. "They are dead Heather." he said with a grim certainty. "Now we must save ourselves and your children. Let us keep moving."
Heather wanted to argue but she knew she couldn’t risk any harm coming to her children. The matter wasnt closed yet, but right now she kept moving getting as much distance between the hatch and them as possible.
Savar knew Heather wasn't pleased with his decision and in truth neither was he but it was the only logical course of action considering they had Heather's small children with them. They continued to climb the tube,
