Season 6: Episode 6: Conglomerate
Location: Deck 10

When the pods reached the Elysiums shields, they were caught briefly, before pushing through. Each one then slammed onto the hull at various locations on Elysium, the spinning drill heads digging into the solid duranium hull plating as if it was thin aluminum.
::The bridge shook again as the pods slammed against the Elysium’s duranium plating. The sound of drilling reverberated through the decks.::
As soon as the pods latched on, the front hatches irised open and the hounds poured out, attacking anyone nearby, killing everyone in front of them.
As soon as the pods connected with the hull, new alarm klaxond began ringing through the ship. "Breach! Intruder alert!! We have breaches on decks five, eight, ten, fifteen and twenty!"
With Gami taking Deck 20, Naxea finished donning her armor before grabbing her pulse rifle
and stepping into the turbolift with two squads. The hum of the turbolift was the only sound as the packed in Marines made their way to Deck Ten--the civilian sector of all places. The door opened to screaming and phaser fire as the few security officers already present were engaging canine looking assailants. "Form up on Security! Watch your fire around the civilians!" Naxea ordered as she raised her rifle to the ready position at a jog. Behind d her, the two squads spread out and they began to fire at the intruders.
Naxea took a squad to try and flank the attackers and flush them towards the killing zone of the heavy weapons as she downed a hound attacking a security guard. She paused for a moment to look at the downed creature with it's cybernetic implants. "What in the hell are these things?" she wondered before refocusing on her mission
"Heavy weapons, on me!" Moses shouted as he moved towards the center of the promenade. He had the team set up their crew served weapons in a semi circle, putting the day care behind them. As it was the largest compartment on the deck, it was designated as an emergency shelter. "None of those bastards get by us, Marines!" Moses shouted as he heated his phaser minigun, mowing down two of the hounds as they chased a family towards the daycare center.
As the fighting commenced, Liam worked with the security personnel to get the civilians to the emergency shelters. When he saw Moses shoot two of the large beasts, he hurried over to the family, and picked up their young daughter and held her close to his chest, as he guided the mother and father to the daycare center.
Of course Teevs' first thought when the chaos started was where he could find his daughter. He knew the school was nearby, and every part of him wanted to run over there. But the creatures he recognised as Galtonians blocked his path, forcing him to move with the crowd. Spotting a child who was looking around scared and lost, Teevs ran to the boy and picked him up. He held the boy tightly as he ran to the daycare, muttering assurances to him while watching his surroundings. To the security officers at the daycare, he said, "tell me how I can help."
A young petty officer heard Teevs, and moved over to him. "Sir, if you have a weapon, then you might be best in helping us guard the daycare. It's the designated emergency bunkers. If things get bad, get inside and seal the doors! The armor on that bunker is thick enough to survive crashing on a planet!"
Inside daycare Leilani had been helping out with a vaccination program for the children, but the moment all hell had broken loose she gathered up her own family alongside the other children, and ushered everyone as far back from the main doors as possible.Hearing voices outside the doors she listened before cautiously stepping out seeing Teevs holding a child. “Here let me” she motioned to the frightened child in his arms. “I’ve got everyone inside as far back as I can.”
Turning away from the petty officer for only a brief second, Teevs handed the boy over to the woman. "It's ok, you'll be safe in there," he assured the child. Turning back to the security officer, he gave a nod. He hadn't been on the promenade when things started happening, but he saw the ones in yellow in particular moving fast and knew something was up. It wasn't hard to get permission to join them, as Kyle had tested his skill and knew he was capable. With the rushed atmosphere, however, he didn't really get much choice in a weapon and accepted the first thing given to him. "Yes, sir, I was able to get my hand weapon," he confirmed, pulling his phaser out of his pocket.
Thinking quickly, the petty officer made a decision. "Alright, Sir..." seeing a group of civilians across the promenade that were pinned down. "Come with me!" He then leapt over a barrier and hurried over towards the cowering civilians.
Acknowledging, Teevs followed, setting his weapon to the highest nonlehal setting it had. He'd prefer a kill setting for the Galtonians, but with the chaos amongst civilians he didn't want to risk hitting them.
As the two ran off, the child Teevs had saved held on tightly to Leilani, his little body trembling. The big creatures were scary, so he turned his head into her shoulder.
“It’s alright little one” Leilani offered comfort, her mothering instincts to protect and comfort. “Nothing will harm you, we’re safe here.”
Two of the hounds smelled the gathering of bodies in the day care, and turned to face them. After snarling viciously, they extended their cybernetic claws, which started to glow red.
On the defensive line, Moses saw the two creatures tensing up to bolt towards them. "Oh fuck..." he said under his breath. As he started to bark orders and react, the to giant beasts lurched forward in a gallop, their heated front claws tearing into the duranium floor plating, as if it was pliable as tissue paper.
"Open fire!" Moses shouted, as he turned his own weapon on the creature to the right. Pressing the trigger, a devastating stream of energy poured from the spinning multi barrels of the gatlin mini phaser cannon.
The first hound was torn to bits by his fusilade, and the second one was cut down by the other heavy weapons Marines with him. Unfortunately, before the hounds was fully immobilized, it fired a spread of vicious-looking metallic projectiles at the group several missed their targets but, Moses saw that one was headed straight and true towards the opening of the daycare, and towards the civilians inside. Without thinking about, he leapt up using his armored body as a shield.
The trident-looking blade, struck the big man in the gut, several inches of the barbed blades piercing through his armor and burying into his midsection. He immediately coughed up blood, standing there for a moment, stunned. Many thoughts ran through his head, but the one that screamed loudest was, that his lover, Gami, was really going to be pissed at him.
Blackness suddenly filled Moses's vision, and he collapsed, blood beginning to pool under him.
"Moses is down!" came the voice of a panicked Marine over Marine comms. Hearing the news, Naxea signaled the Marines with her. "Fall back to the day care now!" She and the other Marines began to quickly make their way towards the daycare.
In the chaos that ensured, Camryn slipped in and out among the panicked civilians. The dogs, or whatever the heck they are, rushed around biting whatever their jaws could latch on. Carrying her phaser, she rushed through the civilans, ushering them into safety. The marines ahead worked on crowd control, taking out the dogs one at a time. They seemed to be cybernetic which made her wonder if she could use that to her advantage. Seeing the the marines headed towards the daycare, Cam rushed ahead. Hoping there weren't any hounds behind her, she reached the nearby console and replied to a nearby marine, "I will try to erect some forcefields to prevent them from coming in."
Athena assisted with the force fields.
Teevs heard the whistling sound of projectiles, and turned his head to see someone go down with a long piece of metal sticking out of his abdomen. The subsequent rush of marines toward the daycare sent a chill of not-fully-realised dread up his spine. Something in him knew that if they got cornered, they were done for. What did he know about these creatures? He shot down another one of the hounds with the petty officer, the effort taking a couple of tries, and the way the weapons blasts seemed to not do much damage until the third or fourth shot made something click. Hitting his communicator, he said, "Marines, they have frontal shields! Concentrate your fire-- and don't let them corner you!"
Inside daycare Leilani had handed the frightened child over to one of the others, taking a moment to check on her own children before rushing to help Moses, fortunately she had her medical bag with her, her habit of carrying it with her had paid off this time. She opened up the bag pulling out her tricorder though she could see the injuries were going to need more treatment than she could provide here. “Massive internal and external injuries! I can’t heal him here he needs surgery! I can stabilise but that’s all.”
Moses suddenly coughed up blood, reaching for Leilani. As blood started to drip out of his mouth, he whispered hoarsely, "T-tell...tell Gami...i...I love her, and...I'm....I'm sorry." His hand fell as he slipped back into unconsciousness.
“Dammit Moses, stay with me!” Leilani cursed as she tried to stem what she could of the blood flow, and heal what she could to stabilise Moses until they could get him to surgery.
Naxea soon approached the perimeter of the day care as she laid down a steady burst of phaser fire from her pulse rifle. She quickly moved over tobwhere she say Leilani and Moses. The wound Moses suffered shocked Naxea. "What's the story, Staff Sergeant?" she asked Leilani.
“The story…” Leilani looked up at Naxea. “Moses has a gaping hole in his abdomen, damage is severe enough to require surgery that I can’t provide here! He also needs a blood transfusion to replace what he’s losing. I can stabilise for now, but if we don’t get him to surgery he’s going to die!” She gave Naxea a look that said she meant every word. “For now all I can do is stop some of the bleeding, and I’ll need someone of the same blood group, or a compatible one, for transfusion.”
"Can he be stabilized enough for the transporter?" she asked. "Because at the moment that is the only way he's getting to sickbay. Otherwise you're going to have to operate here."
“Operate here!? No way!” Leilani shook her head. “I can prepare Moses for transport, not that it’s ideal in his current state. Either way he gets that surgery or we lose him, and that’s not acceptable.”
As the fighting continued, the Hounds were finally being cut down, leaving one, badly injured, as it did a painful lopping hobble towards Naxea, the only weapons it had left, were its mangled fangs, which were gnashing as it hurried towards its target mindlessly.
Teevs and the petty officer had helped the pinned civilians by now, and he turned to see the last hound dragging itself toward Naxea. His pulse quickened. Shifting a couple steps to the side so he wouldn't hit anyone, he aimed and fired off a couple shots at the wounded hound. The hound's side profile was exposed to him, which worked in his favour by bypassing the frontal shield that kept trying to sputter into shape. One shot hit its flank to try and stop it from moving, and two more were aimed at its side, right for the section of flesh nestled between cybernetic plating.
Naxea looked from Leilani to the downed hound and then at Teevs. "Good work, Mr. Dosivi." She looked back at Leilani. "Transport Moses out of here while there's a lull in the fighting."
“Understood” Leilani nodded tapping her comm badge. “Emergency transport, 2 to beam directly to Sickbay!”
An instant later, the two of them are beamed away in silvery-colored energy.
Aftervthey were gone, Liam stopped in front of Naxea and saluted. "All enemy forces on the deck have been delt with, Colonel. The security and damage control teams are already working on those breaching pods. The Promenade is secure."
"Good work. See that the wounded get to sickbay." Just then her comm activated. "Corporal O'Malley to Colonel Azhul.'
"Go ahead Corporal. "
"Chief Man'darr is down. Bad but a Lieutenant from Science locked the lab down and activated the security system. She's trying to save him using a medkit but he needs Sickbay now."
Anger flushed Naxea's face as she stepped away. "You get me that damn Lieutenant on comms now."
Camryn joined the party and halted as Naxea shouted into a com. She looked around while holding onto her padd. At the moment, she hadn't picked up a rifle or a weapon yet. However, she had her side phaser on her hip just in case she needed it. Satisfied that the area seemed to be secured at the moment, she reviewed the stats. As the new assistant chief engineer, she monitored the activity on the Promenade. It was chaos with the hounds. Now everyone paused and licked their wounds. She looked up and noted one of the hounds. Scanning it, she detected some cybernetic and wondered if it would be useful for later.
