Savar had arrived at the quarters he and Alicia shared. She had not yet finished with her appointment. As he waited for her arrival, his mind centered on the issue of Alicia's continuing headaches. This concerned him for the meld when done correctly produced no side effects. Ergo, he had done something wrong and would have to repair whatever it was that was causing Alicia to have headaches. So has he waited for her, he pondered how to correct the issue. Another meld was the answer, to one find and identify the problem and two fix it. Satisfied he had a workable plan of action he waited for Alicia.
Alicia arrived home still suffering, she’d managed to keep her mind off the headaches whilst working but now it was starting to wear her down. She offered the best smile she could as she walked across to Savar and gave him a kiss. “Hey, any ideas on curing my headaches?”
He took her hands and had her sit down next to him. "I believe so Alicia. I believe your headaches are psychosomatic. Your subconscious is resisting the meld and in doing so it is causing headaches to combat the meld."
“Resisting it? Why would I resist it?” Alicia looked at Savar in complete confusion and denial. “I want to be a part of you, part of us! Why would I resist?”
"Not you Alicia or your conscious mind but your subconscious. I believe it is because you fear losing yourself because of the meld." Savar remarked calmly.
"But I..." She paused. "So how do I get my subconscious to open up and allow our bonding?"
"I will need to link our thoughts and peruse your thoughts to see if I can find the issue and rectify it." He replied
Alicia nodded. "I trust you, you know I do."
"Your conscious mind does Alicia. Now we must get your subconscious to do the same." Savar replied gravely.
Alicia nodded and sat down on the sofa. “Then mind meld with me, I want us to be one with nothing to hold us back.”
Savar nodded and place a hand on her face to initiate the meld. "Your mind to my mind... your thoughts to my thoughts." He said as he entered her mind to find the problem with the meld. He moved slowly as he went through the layers of her mind until he saw her or a younger version a teenager of her crying. He approached and asked, "Why do you cry? I am here to help you."
Inside her mind this earlier version of Alicia was hidden away, a bad memory tucked away amongst her subconscious that even Alicia herself had forgotten until now. The image changed to show an romantic tryst before it changed to show a reluctant and fearful teenage Alicia, her mind unwillingly invaded by a teenage boy.
"Do not be afraid or fear me. I am here to help you. We are husband and wife. I would never hurt you. I am here to stop fear and regain your trust." He spoke slowly as not to alarm this younger version of Alicia.
“My...husband?” The younger version looked at Savar curiously. “I...I love you?” She kept her distance for now.
"Yes." Savar replied calmly and stopped a fair distance away from her. " And I love you very much as well. We have melded our minds when we bonded and your mind is resisting the meld."
“It’s...me isn’t it?” The teenager looked at Savar. “Because I’m still here...” Just then Ariana’s true self appeared behind Savar. “because I’m not letting myself get past this point.” She stood looking at this earlier version of herself.
"You are a part of Alicia and will always be." Savar answered, "However in this instant you are preventing the meld to preform as it should because of your fear. Let me..." He gestured at the now Alicia, "Let us help you to trust."
Both Alicia’s nodded at the same time, their voices joining in unison. “Show us.”
"Open your mind to me, there is nothing to fear in the pursuit of knowledge and in helping one's self." He held out a hand, "Do not be afraid, Do not let the past influence the present or the future. Join hands with each other and explore my mind, you will see I speak the truth."
The two versions of Alicia both did as Savar requested, joining hands Alicia explored Savar’s mind. By the time she was finished only one version of herself remained as the memory she’d kept buried inside her mind was finally released to join her psyche. Back in the real world her breathing relaxed as she allowed her fears to subside and let the bonding with Savar truly take hold.
Savar withdrew from Alicia's mind confident now that the bonding would perform as expected and Alicia would suffer no more headaches. He observed her as he sat on the couch. Her breathing had relaxed as well as her body. No longer was she stiff and resistant. After observing for several more seconds, he asked "How do you feel Alicia?"
Alicia slowly opened her eyes and looked at Savar. “I feel...better.” She smiled. “My headache has gone.” Her smile faded a little. “I...buried that memory. I didn’t want to remember what happened.”
"That is good Alicia. I am greatly pleased The memory has returned to where it belongs. You should have no further issues with it. I am sorry you did before." Savar answered, is concern for her evident.
Alicia nodded and cuddled up to her husband. “It’s not a memory I like having back but I moved past it a long time ago.” She offered a relaxed smile “I can feel so much more from you now.”
"That pleases me greatly Alicia. I am sorry you had to endure the headaches." Savar replied.
“There’s no need to apologise Imzadi” Alicia smiled as she looked up at Savar. “It wasn’t your fault, and now it’s sorted I can let our bonding fully immerse. I know it’s going to take time to fully settle but from what I’m feeling now it’s definitely working.”
"I was responsible for initiating the meld Alicia, I should have been careful. I am sorry fir the distress you were put through." Savar answered as he took her hand in his.
“You know we could spend all night apologising to one another” Alicia smiled as she leant forward to give him a romantic kiss. << Can you read my mind Imzadi? >>
Savar leaned back and looked at Alicia, "Yes, I can." He said aloud, However that is hardly a fair question as I did not need to read your mind to know what you are thinking Alicia."
Alicia nodded. “That’s going to take a little getting used to, but I like it.” She gently touched his face studying every inch of it. “I never thought I’d find a Vulcan so appealing. You hold my heart and soul Savar and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Savar was quiet for a moment as Alicia gently spoke and touched his face when he did speak it was soft almost subdued, "Alicia, you are my ashaya and I could never find another that is as special as you are."
Alicia smiled the biggest smile yet. “You will never have to find another Imzadi, I will be at your side until the end of our days.”
"That pleases me greatly Alicia and I will be at yours for it as it should be for us." Savar replied emotionlessly but his eyes told a different story, For the love he held for Alicia and would always have.
Alicia could feel and see the love Savar had for her, it made their relationship all the more special.
Savar gazed into Alicia's large expressive eyes and knew he had found his soulmate in this remarkable woman.
