Mission: Season 4: Episode 3: Guided by Starlight
Location: Crew Mess Hall - Deck 24
Timeline: Current
3068 words - 6.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Serenity had organized it. A get together of some of the ships Lieutenants. Her goal was simple, the more people knew others, the better they would work together in a crisis. So she had sent them all an invite, to meet up for a meal and chat in the Crew Mess on deck 24.

She herself arrived early and grabbed a tray and a meal and had shoved several tables together.

Alicia was finished her work for the day, having received her invite she changed into a flowing maternity dress for comfort and let Savar know where she’d be, before setting off for the crew mess. Arriving a few minutes later she walked through the doors offering a smile. “Hi, you must be Serenity. I’m Alicia” she smiled warmly.

The door opened and a well-dressed woman entered holding a PADD. "Deities... I'm not sure if I understand Earth Deities. Gods as they are called. They claim wisdom but require those who worship them to perform bizarre things beyond all rational consensus." She was speaking to a PADD. "I'm guessing I will be required to negotiate with religious leaders soon. The good thing about religious leaders is their concept of morality. The bad thing about religious leaders is their concept of morality." Consul Vanessa noted. "Regardless, I'll do what I can for the Captain, End log."

Scott entered after Vanessa. He told Jade he'd meet her here after her shift. He scanned the area for her but didn't see her. He nodded to the others. "Hi, I'm Scott Gregory."

Alicia smiled warmly as she returned to the table with her chosen meal and drink. “Hi Scott, I’m Alicia.” She sat down getting as comfortable as she could given the weight and strain carrying a bump around put on her back.

Imik looked at her PaDD, *Why would Humans want to meet her?* Her thoughts continued as she walked to the meeting place, she was dressed in a very loose fitting sky blue dress. As she entered she stopped and bowed, "Blessings on all the houses gathered here, my name is Imik". She then moved over to the replicator, "Ojnas Comabenao". A plate with a strange looking stew now appeared, picking it up Imik sniffed it. "This device finds my favourite dish impossible to get right", she smiled as she turned and headed for a chair close to the now expanding group.

"Pleased to meet you Alicia." Scott answered as he saw Imik with a plate of something headed in their direction before settling into a chair close to them. "Excuse me for a moment Alicia." He walked over to Imik, "Hi, I'm Scott Gregory and you are?"

Raising her head, she looked at this Human male and smiled. "I am Imik, I am Ojnas. And who are you?"

"I'm Scott Gregory." He repeated, "I'm an Ops officer." He volunteered. "It is nice to meet you." He added.

Imik bowed her head, "Blessings upon your house Scott Gregory, I am both a Consul and a Fighter Pilot. It is a pleasure to meet you, I hope we can be friends". She raised her spoon and sipped the broth of her stew, then picking up a fork speared a piece of vegetable and meat. "Replicated Comabenao leaves much to be desired", she pushed the plate away and picked up her Chocolate milkshake.

"I would like that very much Imik." He looked at her plate, "What is Comabenao?" He asked curious about the dish.

Stabbing another piece of meat she raised it up to show Scott. "This is supposed to be Cassidumria, in your culture it would probably be a cow. The vegetables are similar in both flavour and texture to your carrots and turnip, the sauce is suppose to compliment both". She placed the fork and it's victim back down on the plate, "I examined Human foods, and the closest food to our Comabenao you have is a beef stew. But the replicator for some reason keeps using something called mutton as a base, so no flavour and certainly little or no substance". She took another sip of her milkshake, "You may try it if you wish, but I would not recommend the experience".

Vanessa walked up and tried some of the food. She went for the vegetables though. "Mmm... Exquisite, Consul S'Niohun." She mentioned. "Wow... Quite strong even. I've had even stronger meals during my tenor as my people's Ambassador to Earth." Vanessa mentioned.

Imik looked at Vanessa, "It should have a little more of what Humans call Kick, it is very flat for my taste". She passed the plate over so Vanessa could take more, "Please enjoy, Ojnas food is supposed to taste as good hot as well as cold".

Olivia was a bit tired after her shift in Sickbay, but since she along with others had been invited to a get together after shift, she decided to go check things out. It was a good way to met up with a few others that she didn't get to interact with on a regular basis. Olivia stopped outside the door for a moment to gather her thoughts and take a moment for herself before entering the mess hall. After a moment, Olivia took a breath and headed inside. She looked around and spotted a few people had already showed up, so she went over to grab something to eat and then head over to the tables that had been pushed together.

Alicia was politely eating her food as it was starting to go cold, her appetite was second to none at present the whole adage about eating for two seemed to be correct where she was concerned.

The door opened and in walked Sapphire she looked around smiled and grabbed a meal from the replicator and sat down between Alicia and Scott. "Hi" she said brightly.

"Hi Jade!" Scott replied happy Jade had made it to the meeting. Even happier she was sitting with him. "Glad you good make it Jade." He whispered to her.

Alicia offered a wave and a smile as chewed her food.

Victor and Tonya walked in as this was the first gift together either has been with just to Lieutenants. "Hello Olivia, Tate, S'hib, Alicia, Nevada and Vanessa. Others we have not formerly met. I am Lt. Victor Barclay de Tolly and this is Lt. Tonya King. We are two of the new Engineers. I am the Chief and Tonya is one of the Diagnostics Engineers."

"Hello everyone," Tonya smiled at everyone. "Happy to be here."

Standing up, Imik bowed to the two new comers. "I am Imik, Ojnas Consul and fighter pilot. Blessings upon your houses, and welcome to our gathering".

Finally S’hib arrived, wearing nothing more than a very simple dark grey skirt that flowed to the floor and covered his hooves.

“Sorry I’m late...” He sighed as he ducked under the doorframe and into the room, flicking his ears as he glanced at those already there.

"Nonsense, Lieutenant. Recreation time certainly is not an affair that one needs an appointment for. Though I have meet several cultures that would actually punish its citizens for having too little fun." Vanessa mentioned. "They were obsessive hedonists, and their gods found it offensive for someone to be depressed."

Imik turned to face S'hib, "Blessings upon you S'hib, your attire is pleasing I trust you are well?"

"Well, but hungry... I'm glad to see you here." S'hib smiled as he headed for the closest food table.

Tonya decided to go sit down as Victor went to go get drinks and appetizers.

Alicia smiled at Tonya as she put her glass down after sipping her drink. “Welcome to the gathering, I think this is a good idea. A chance for everyone to get to know one another.”

"I agree," Tonya mirrored Alicia's kind soft comforting smile. "I know what you do but I do not know what you like. I like great open doors like we have in California such as the Sequoia National Park and the beautiful beaches. I am an outdoors person and I do my Karate Tai Chi in the morning. Dealing with all the grief that resurfaces, it helps to focus it then release it. Now what about you Alicia?"

“Me, I love the outdoors. To walk in the fresh air, besides the sea with sea views and sand between your toes!” She grinned. “I find it romantic going for walks along the beach with Savar. I have yet to visit Savar’s home on Vulcan but maybe one day I’ll get the chance, I want to see what his home is like.”

"Sounds romantic," Tonya smiles as she sees him bringing her exactly what she would requested on her own. "This wonderful man always knows what I want. I know the reason why but the fact he knows everything about what I like but Victor, do you know the one place I always wanted to go to dear?"

"The Vulcan Monestary on P'Jem," he guesses.

Tonya facepalms herself. "YES!" She breathes in a bit. "What about my favorite thing I like to wear to bed?"

"Trick question because you sleep in the nude," he whispers.

"Oh you but so true," Tonya says not blushing at all. She turns to Alicia, "Do you think Savar could get us to see P'Jem? Holodecks count because those who have not been there I hear can not do it accuracy."

“It maybe worth asking Savar” Alicia smiled warmly. “This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”

"It is near Vulcan," Tonya replied. "It was almost totally destroyed in the time of Captain Archer but they managed to rebuild it. Can't recall the details but it had to do something with Andorians. Ask Savar. He probably know more."

"The P'Jem incident." Vanessa noted. "The Vulcan hid a covert sensor array under the monastery. This was before the Kir'shara."

Victor adds to the conversation, "Somehere around 2152 to 2154, it was destroyed by the Andorians because Vulcans were spying on Andor. In the 2170, there was joint effort between Andorians, Vulcans and Humans to rebuild it back to its grandeur. Non-Vulcans need to get permission to go I would assume."

Vanessa nodded slightly. "Indeed. The Vulcan Kir'Shara Monks have been adamant that the mistakes made by the Vulcan High Command would not be repeated, and even today; most Vulcans look back on the actions of the High Command with disapproval. Vulcan Diplomacy, in the years leading up to the discovery of the Kir'Shara was passive aggressive coercion. It took Vulcans to make humans end centuries of religious and geopolitical feuding, and it took Humans to end millennia of hypocritical assumptions of the teachings of Surak." Vanessa mentioned. "Vulcan today is far more logical than Vulcan of Archer's time, suffice to say, the Monastery still has not forgotten that controversy."

“It sounds fascinating” Alicia smiled. “There’s so much I don’t know about Vulcan and Vulcan beliefs, considering I’m bonded to Savar. I’d like to know more.”

"I feel the same way," Tonya added, "I have been to Bajor and they did share what they could of their faith. Klingon culture I visit there as well but that was only because I brought back three Klingons who died with honor. Around Earth, I would study as a young girl because of my mother but my discipline has always been Engineering because of my Father. Alicia, who were your big influencers and why?"

"In the end, the only people who can deal with the Klingons is a Klingon." Vanessa mentioned.

Olivia took the food that she had picked over to an empty spot at one of the tables to sit down. She had been listening to the various conversations taking place among those already there. "Make sure you get something to eat Lt. S'hib and come join us," Olivia called out.

As the people around her seemed to be splitting into groups, Imik simply sat and waited to see if anyone would include her. She had an excuse to leave if she found herself alone, she would request a fighter and perform take off and landing training.

"Hey Imik, come and join Jade and myself." Scott said to his new friend. "No reason for you to be alone."

On hearing her name, Imik turned to the sound a smile on her lips. "Thank you Scott, are you sure I am not disturbing you and your partner?" She walked slowly over, still a little unsure about joining in. She was a warrior a fighter pilot, this seemed more of a female type thing.

“I will do!” S’hib replied to Olivia while finding himself a plate, so far he had simply listened, lost in his own thoughts as he wondered around the tables of food.

Tonya turned away a bit as gazed at the stars as she thought of the loves she has lost and the love that found her as she wondered for a brief moment if she was truly worthy. She touches Victor's left hand for comfort and she was given a kiss oh her forehand which gave reassurance she was.

Vanessa looked at Tonya. "You brought back Klingons who died with honor? I wouldn't recommend that in the future. To Resuscitate a Klingon who died during battle is a severe insult to their society. That's how blood oaths get declared."

"I did not revive a Klingon from apparent death," Tonya clarified, "There were two Klingon men and one Klingon who died defending a colony. I was asked by my commanding officer to bring the three back to their home planet of Qo'nos because I was there when they died. The Klingons gave the three fallen heroes who have all lived an honorable life ak'voh ritual. If it was not for the three Klingons, I would not be here today. This happen one year after I left the Academy. VaQ's sister Bella swore a blood oath on those responsible."

Victor listening recalled in the other Reality when Tonya died, VaQ's team appeared late.

" Sure I'm sure Imik. Besides I don't want to see you alone and I want you to meet Jade." Scott told his new friend.

Imik sat down next to Scott, "Blessings on your house Jade, are you and Scott each others intended?"

Jade smiled "No just dating" She said holding out her hand to shake Imiks

Vanessa spoke. "Take it one day at a time, m'dear. Sometimes the best things in life, are those that have been aged to perfection like a bottle of two hundred year old tanye."

Scott squeezed Jade's hand softly. "I certainly hope you are right."

Sapphire Jade merely smiled and leaned into his side. "Same"

"I see, so dating does not equal being intended? I did not know this, for an Ojnas once a partner is chosen they become each others intended". Imik smiled as she took Jade's hand and shook it, she also brushed Jade's mind and found an open soul. "I hope you both find your intended very soon", Imik looked about as the room began to fill up.

"It's a work in progress." Scott offered. "Dating gives the people involved a chance to see if they want to become the other's intended." He finished smiling at Jade.

"In our culture, it is best to make sure people fit before committing to marriage" Jade said

Tonya sighed as she came so close to marriage four times.

"Does anyone know what this is called?" S'hib snorted, turning suddenly with a large leafy green still hanging somewhat from his mouth, the rest of which quickly vanished as his dextrous lips wriggled about it. "And why is all the other food on top of it?"

Imik couldn't help herself, she burst out laughing at S'hib. "I am sorry S'hib, but there are times when you make me feel joyous. And this is one of those times". She turned to her to new friends, she now lightly swept Scott's mind. Again she found a gentle open soul, "I think you may find you compliment each other Scott, Jade has many things you will find attractive".

Scott smiled at Imik's words. "I already find her attractive." He admitted with a smile.

Jade grinned at that. "Well I dont let just anyone kiss me," she said with a smile.

"That is good to know. Not that I had any doubt. "Scott answered with a smile.

Alicia had sat quietly enjoying her food and listening to conversation. Now she stifled a yawn. “If you’ll all forgive me, I’ve just about reached the end of my energy levels, Blaine this little one.” She smiled as she pointed to her bump, and moved to stand up. “Thank you for inviting me it’s been nice seeing all of you.”

Standing as quickly as she could, Imik now bowed to Alicia. "Peace and long life Alicia". She now scanned the baby and smiled, "The youngling is happy, you are a good mother". She smiled and then sat back down.

“Thank you” Alicia smiled warmly at Imik.

Imik now looked back at Alicia, "Do you require assistance in returning to your quarters? If so I am willing to assist you".

“It’s fine thank you” Alicia smiled warmly. “Stay and enjoy the evening.”

Dipping her head again, Imik smiled and replied. "Thank you, I must admit to enjoying the company. We Ojnas are orientated to enjoy crowds".

Alicia’s smiled warmly. “Enjoy your evening Imik.” With that she smiled and nodded to the others before heading for the door.

Vanessa smiled. "Well now, I believe it is time for me to retire, as I have plenty more diplomacy to attend to in the morning."

Watching people leave, Imik now rose up. "I have an early start tomorrow, so I will take my leave of you all. Good night and blessings on you all". She now turned and slowly headed for the door, she was happy but sleepy and her new friends would still be here in the morning.

"Good Night Imik" Jade said as she stood as well. "Let us all do the same." She smiled and the group dispersed with a series of goodnights.

" Good night Imik." Scott replied to his new friend. He turned to Jade, "Walk you back to your quarters Lieutenant?" He asked with a smile.
