Mission: Season 5: Episode 4: Reef
Location: USS Jefferson: Deck 6
Timeline: MD1: 11h00
1480 words - 3 OF Standard Post Measure

== USS Jefferson, Deck 6 ==

The light was low as the group dropped down through the hatch onto the deck plating of deck 6. Red lights flashed but the accompanying alarm was muted. Nothing moved around them.

In first was Snow the small robot projecting a small bubble of clean air around him as he began running his scanners around the corridor.

David entered next, followed by Liam. The younger Marine had his tricorder up and was scanning. "Sir, while the Steamrunners are built hardy, I'm not sure how long her hull can stand to this pressure."

David reached out and placed his right hand on the bulkhead. "Without power, she might last six, maybe seven hours. Of course, that time will be less if her hull is compromised anywhere. Starships are designed to keep pressure in, not so much keep it out. We'd best hurry."

Neri moved into position and began to sweep the area.

Damien was next to jump down down, phaser rifle raised, the torch attachment casting a shaft of light down the corridor, keeping quiet as he looked around, awaiting his orders.

Snow's own light activated to help illuminate the gloom even if he was going from his sensors. " The most well-built section is this way. If there are any survivors they'll most likely be there." He said leading the way.

David nodded as he started to follow Snow. "Lieutenant Blackford, I want you to continually scan for any sign of structural instability in our area. Lieutenant zh'Rilor, I want you to scan for any signs of evidence as to what pulled the ship from orbit. Sergeant Reece, you are to pull up the rear, providing cover. Now, let's find who we came down here for and go home."

Damien nodded “Aye sir.” He said, shouldering his rifle, pulling out his Hand Phaser instead, and his Tricorder, scanning the area as they slowly started moving forward.

Neri nodded. "Yes Sir" and attached her tricorder to her hip and set it to scan as she wanted to keep her hands free.

The deck platting beneath their feet suddenly shook and there was the horrible sound of grinding metal on stone that rent the air.

"May I suggest we hurry?" The Andorian suggested as she picked up the pace.

David nodded as he listened to the echos run through the hull. "Definitely no more than six hours," he said quietly. Then he looked over at the Exobot. "Mister Snow, please tell us that your sensors are picking up survivors?"

Snow pushed as he processed the data. It was a hard to. " Thirty faint life signs straight ahead." He bleeps as he identified the lifesigns.

Neri moved down the halls rapping on doors as she rent. A few doors were able to be pried open and soon they were shuttling people back to the evacuation shuttles.

They had gotten the just over 30 people out and were moving to check the next deck when a call came through.

=/\= ELYSIUM TO ALL AWAY TEAMS - EVAC And STAND READY. We have problems up here!=/\=

Neri looked at the leads of the away mission. “Sirs, it will be about 40 minutes for that shuttle to return” She said softly. “Might I suggest we meet up with other teams?”

David nodded. He could feel the energy flow around them, and it seemed that all of the survivors in this area had been accounted for. "Yes, let's get moving people. Mister Snow, with your shaper sensors, you have point. Everyone else, follow me."

" Affirmative captain. " The robot said as he took point.

As the team moved out, they continued to find crew quarters, their doors open and the interiors seeming to have been ransacked. "What the hell happened down here?" David wondered quietly to himself. "Eyes open, everyone. Keep your heads on a swivel."

After traveling a few more sections, a voice could be heard, calling for help. "Snow, location!"

Snow swivelled as he located it." Five rooms down this corridor." he said spreading off down the corridor.

"Let's hustle, people!" He took off after the exocomp and a few moments later, was standing outside the closed doors. The doors refused to open. "Snow, get in there and try to assess the situation while we try to pry the doors open!"

" Affirmative." He said teleporting away. He appeared in a small room. An obviously terrified ensign was banging on the door which judging by the blood prints she'd been doing for quite some time.

Turning at the new presence, the young Bolian screamed. "What are you?! Don't hurt me!!!" She turned back to the door and continued to pound upon it, making more and more blood stains.

" Please I am ensign BF345078 from the Elysium I'm here to get you out fo here. " Snow stated camly.

"Reece," Tonelly looked over at the Marine Sapper. "Do you have any breaching charges that'll open this door without compromising the area around us?"

Liam nodded. "Aye, Sir!" He quickly pulled off his pack and knelt down to open it. Reaching in, he pulled out a roll of orange putty. "After I roll this onto the door and ignite it, it'll cut through the door in a few seconds, leaving the rest of the area unharmed!"

"Do it!" David replied as he nodded to the door. "Blackford, zh'Rhilror, stand by to assist the survivors!"

"Aye" The andorian replied calmly.

Liam quickly got to work, starting at the top of the door, unrolling and sticking the cutting compound to the door panels themselves. Once he was done, he inserted a small ignitor, then moved back. "Sir, Snow should have anyone inside to back up and cover their eyes. This is going to burn fast and bright."

"Mister Snow, have the survivors move away from the door. Tell them to cover their eyes and don't look at the door!"

Snow had been doing his best to talk to the survivor but it was clear she was in shock from the whole situation. " With no choice he brought up his tractor beam and pulled her away." Door is clear, Captain. Please hurry survivor is in a highly delusional state." he beeped.

"Do it, Reece!" David called out as he ducked behind cover.

"Fire in the hole!" Liam called out a beat before he activated the detonator. The corridor lit up as the cutting charge worked its way through the duranium alloy.

Finally, less than five seconds later, the charge was spent and the cut door sections fell clear.

"Blackford, zh'Rhilror, get in there!" David barked as the team started to move from cover.

Neri moved as quickly as she could and helped Snow pull the survivor out.

Snow had his systems at maximum power as he pulled her out. " I suggest we leave this area. Structural integrity is collapsing."

David nodded as he reached up and injected an isolinear tag into the survivor. She was beamed out a split second later. "Mister Snow, are you d3tecting anymore lifesigns of survivors?"

" Negative." Snow said giving one last scan with all of his sensors. This place was empty.

Suddenly, a loud crashing sound reverberated through the corridors. David looked up at the ceiling and cursed. "We just ran out of time! Everyone, activate your EVA suits! We are about to be in a bad way!" He reached down and hit the controls to deply his helmet. "Snow, tag the survivor with a transponder tag, now!"

With a bleep, a tag shot from Snow attached firearm and into the survivor's shoulder.

As soon as the tag was attached, the woman vanished in a swirl of transporter energy. The corridor suddenly started to tilt thirty degrees on its side, debrie beginning to slide and fall all around the team.

The call for evacuation of all teams suddenly came over everyone's commbadges. "Back to the infiltration site!" David barked. "Move people!!" He made sure each of his team started to move, then he pulled up the rear.

The last evac shuttle took off with the survivors and Neri looked at the team, she held out her tricorder. "Sir. team one is above us. We should meet up with them" She said to Tonelly.

David saw the readings as well and nodded. "Agreed." He consulted the map on his tricorder, then looked left, down the corridor. "This way!"

He led to the nearest Jeffries tube access point. After k Ealing down and removing the hatch, he looked at the brave little Exocomp. "Snow, with your smaller size, you can maneuver through the tubes faster than us. Take point and make sure the path is clear to the deck above us."

As he spoke, the ship continued to vibrate heavily. In the distance, glass shattering and duranium rending could be heard.

" Affirmative." Snow said as he took the lead running through the collapsing ship as fast as his motors could manage.

Oh yeah!

A real nice ass post right there. I like it. Really enjoying the Mister Snow character. The Exocomp. So glad that character is on the away team. Very enjoyable real y'all. It's a Sunday afternoon when I read it and it was thoroughly enjoyable. And Blackford is a badass here. All weaponized with a rifle and bad ass attitude. Nice to see Security in action. I mean, in more things than just 'crowd control' and bouncer services to the Promenade Deck. Good job.

Fun to read. Thanks!
