---Transporter lock detected---

Then the silence was no more as a cacophony of wings filled the sterile air as they swarmed, their curiosity sated, their hunger soon to be as they sprayed a clear but vicious solution from their mandibles, some jumped onto him attempting to bite, others buzzing around, seemingly waiting their turn as they followed his slower and slower steps.

Even as he fell into the turbolift shaft, phaser fire slicing off legs or outright eviscerating others they still came, a flurry of insect mass barreling through the door after him until the blue glow of the transporter left them scurrying about in confusion, their wings fluttering in unison until the hive had calmed down from its frenzy.

T'Kek stood sat at the Operations controls, having managed to get a lock onto S'hib and transport him aboard the shuttle. "Apologies, Commander. But I was busy focusing on establishing a lock which was difficult to do due to the shielding in Engineering."

"Yeah... And I think I know why they put shields up around Engineering." He huffed as he sat up and looked at his phaser, dangling from his hand by a mass of sticky clear residue that was caked all over his EVA suit.

Fernando had been quiet most of the time just doing his job but now he spoke up. " We should hasten our departure so more of whatever left that on your suit doesn't come back for another taste."

"The door..." S'hib muttered as he rolled to look directly at Fernando. "I OPENED THE DOOR!" he shouted in a mad panic as he scrambled to his hooves, thumping into the roof of the shuttle as he did so. "Is everyone aboard?" he asked, trying to turn his bulk around the shuttle to see for himself.

"We're all here, Sir," T'Kek reported, remaining at the Operations Station. He had only the basic training on the systems during the Academy and it had only been for one semester. He was, however, quite proud with himself at being able to transport the Commander aboard the shuttle under less than ideal circumstances.

Heather was looking after those who needed it, the sooner they were back aboard the Elysium the happier she’d be.

"T'Kek, detach and move us away from the Jefferson, but keep us in sensor range..." S'hib remarked with a sudden calmness moments before the pressure seal on his helmet hissed open. "I want to make sure all the others away teams are safe first." He added as the fixed helmet unit moved forward, stopped abruptly and then concertinaed into the suit itself.

"Not that I want to go back, but we cant leave anyone behind."

"Aye, Sir," he replied, getting up and jumping into the pilot's seat. After a moment, the shuttle shook slightly as it detached from the Jefferson. He positioned the shuttle near the Jefferson so that the viewports faced the sunken vessel.

The shuttle headed back to the Elysium like a scaled cat, desiring to be back on the mothership without delay.

Brrrrr!!!

This made my skin crawl. Thinking of all those bug-a-roos crawling all around. Brrrr!!! Pass on going back.

"I say we nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." -Ellen Ripley. If more people followed her advice; the movie would have been shorter.

Thanks for a skin crawling post.
