Mission: Masquerade Back posts
Location: Deck 19 - Office of Temporal Investigations
Timeline: MD2 10h00
1536 words - 3.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Into the office of temporal Investigations, on Deck 19, six members of the USS Elysium's Crew appeared, and found themselves locked into the room.

Fernando had been in his quarters feeling very blue. Mona was gone. The fish tank he had so enjoyed with her was now a bitter reminder of her absence. He had been sitting on the sofa in civilian clothes, slacks and polo shirt, shoes and socks when he suddenly found himself in an office. "What the heck?" He muttered as he went to the door and found it locked. He wasn't wearing his combadge so he couldn't call to anyone, He tried calling to Avalon but got no reply from the AI. He went to the door and banged on it in the hopes of drawing attention but after several minutes he gave up as no one heard or came to let him out.

T'Kek blinked as he looked around the room. A moment ago he had been doing Aikido practice, dressed in his Gi, when he felt the sensation of a transporter beam and now found himself here, in an unfamiliar room. He spotted another person with him. "What is going on? Did you bring me here?"

Sthilg blinked a few times as he worked out his new surroundings. He'd been feeding the sickbays animals when he'd felt himself being teleported. " Now this isss odd...." He said to himself as he tried to bring up his wrist-mounted computer only to find it wasn't there. " Doesss anyone elssse know what happned? " He asked to the five other officers.

Fernando looked at T'kek, "Bring you here?" He questioned. "I was in my quarters one minute the next I'm here." He stopped when he became aware of another person in the room, the Gorn CMO, "No Doctor. As I was just saying I have just recently found myself here and I have no idea why or how I got here."

T'Kek looked to his immediate CO, still wondering how a Gorn was not only a Chief Medical Officer in Starfleet but his immediate superior at that. However, every encounter with the Gorn had been brief but civilized. For that, he was grateful. He walked over to the door to the room, letting out a sigh as it didn't automatically open for him. "What room is this?" he asked, turning back to the assembling group.

"I'm not sssure i don't think I've been here. Computer what room is thisss?" The gorn asked but no reply came. " Well, looksss like the computer is down." He said moving to take a look around the room. Maybe something would identify their location.

"Yes, an excellent idea Doctor." Fernando agreed, "Perhaps once we know where we are we will know how to escape this room."

Varis had been sitting at his desk working out two distinct timelines. One had to do with the possibility that the Elysium was a temporal nexus point and the other was looking into the Janeway problem. Just when he thought he was on to a breakthrough on the former six officers materialized without warning. Of course Varis recognized the Counselor right away. The other officers it took him a moment as he only knew them by their personnel files. He sighed heavily and felt that he should answer the obvious before proceeding.

"Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Department of Temporal Investigations. For those who do not know me I am Varis and this is my office. Now I must insist that we all remain calm. With all due time, I can get to the bottom of this." Varis spoke clearly but without usurping authority over the group. He thought it best to observe and report for the time being.

"Okay..." Rosalyn replied, clearly confused. She looked around the room, brow creased in frustration. Before being transported the counsellor had been standing in line for a late breakfast. She'd had nothing scheduled in and she'd figured she could catch up on any unfinished paperwork during what would have been her lunch. This wasn't the cafe and given the circumstance the tray she had been holding felt incredibly ridiculous.

"So, anyone have any idea what's happening?" Despite her own anxiety, she swallowed it down, instead opting for a calming tone.

Shaking his head slightly, T'Kek paced the outer perimeter of the room. "Mr. Varis, are there any maintenance shafts leading to this room?" He was sure one of the hatches would work if there was one--if not then something was indeed very wrong.

"In truth Ensign I am not sure. I have not gotten the full layout of the ship as of yet, still being new here and all. However, perhaps Lieutenant Hoffman can shed some light there." Varis offered up as he calmly sipped some tea from his homeland a rare treat for him.

"Then why are we standing around? Lets look and see what we can find. If not a maintenance shaft perhaps another way out." Fernando pointed out to the others.

Rosalyn nodded, "Good point, perhaps the door has a manual release hidden under some of the walls panelling. I've served on ships with that function" the counsellor suggested, a little out of her depth.

T'Kek's eyes scanned a section of the bulkhead that would logically contain some sort of maintenance shaft as his hand brushed across the cool titatium plating of the bulkhead and much to his disappointment, finding nothing. He let out a sigh. "This room is illogical in design," he complained to no one in particular.

Varis sat silently and stoicly as he watched everyone's reaction. The thought occured to him that if it came down to a dire emergency he could request a timeline investigation into this moment. If it turned out that this was the wrong timeline of events they would be changed. However, requests like that would have to be a dire emergency and even then took time. Time that they may of not had.

He thought it was appropriate to come clean about what he did know about his offices. "These offices were designed to not be effected by time dilation. The idea is that if you were in this room at the time of the incursion you would know that an incursion had occurred. This is the reason for the 'illogical' design. My suggestion is to pry open the doors. There are enough of us to get it done." Varis spoke calmly as he sat at his desk.

Fernando nodded, "Yes an excellent idea. "You." He pointed at T'Kek "and the Doctor will assist me in opening the door. Then perhaps we can get some answers as to what is going on."

T'Kek looked to his immediate superior for confirmation as he made his way to the door. "Very well, it is worth a try."

For his part Varis was content for the time being to play the civilian. Lending is knowledge and input when it was appropriate. But for the most part allowing the Starfleet officers to take charge.

Fernando moved to the door, he glanced back at T'Kek and Sthilg, "Are you going to stand there or help me open this door?" He pointedly asked the pair.

The gorn had been running through a few theories in his head though he nodded and took a place on the opposite side of the door. He paused before he gave his artificial arm a few bangs before he gripped the left-hand door. " Ready over here. On three?" He asked the human and the hybrid.

Fernando bent forward and placed his hands on the door where he hoped they would do the most good. "Agreed Doctor on three and I am ready. What of you Ensign?" He asked T'Kek.

T'Kek nodded and grabbed the opposite door, positioned above Fernando.

Suddenly the main doors opened and then over the Comm came: "Attention all hands. We are under attack. We have Jem Hadar on decks 23, 34, 16, 19 and 4. All civilians are to remain in the shelters. All crew prepare to repel boarders. Lethal force has been authorized. All turbolifts are down."

Fernando straightened up as the announcement came over the com, "What?" He asked looking at the others. "That doesn't sound right. Have any of you heard and phasers being fired or any explosions?"

"No," T'Kek replied. "Jem H'dar attackers do not make sense in our area of space. However, we should proceed with caution."

Varis smiled, he was amazed at how even a Starfleet crew could not get concensus on how to proceed. As a civilian he decided to err on the side of caution and do what the announcement had said to do. His office was a marked shelter, so he would remain right where he was. Varis only hoped that these unexpected guests would leave soon. He wanted to get some work done.

The gorn had been listening and his reptilian ears couldn't hear anything. " No, I haven't heard anything.Ssstill if I remember correctly the nearessst armoury isssn't far. Arming ourselvesss ssshould be a top priority."

"It is Doctor." Fernando replied, And we should make our way there as quickly as possible. Then make our way to the bridge while making key locations secure."'
