Stryker leaped to his feet, slung on his sidearm, donned his helmet and took up his carbine. 'Just what the hell is going on?' He muttered mentally as he bolted through the hatch of his quarters and ran for his assigned escape pod. He would wait on his men, those other Marines assigned to the pod before entering himself. 'This just sucks pond water!' he thought as crewmen and women rushed past heading for their pods.
Arri was curious. She had not scheduled any drills or seen any abnormalities in the Elysium's systems for the last few hours. This order only had to come from the Commanding Officer. She spoke. "Computer. Who issued the evacuation order in progress?"
"Captain Lalor. There are cabin assignments once you leave the ship, on ds9" the computer replied.
Arri raised her eyebrows and tapped her combadge. "Attention all hands, this is Lieutenant Salannis, Evacuation orders confirmed. Evacuate via the portside docking hatch and main transporter rooms. I am moving to Main Engineering to assist in an emergency shutdown as a precaution. Repeat, evac orders confirmed." She intended to leave fifteen minutes before the deadline, but not before ensuring an orderly evacuation. She was the Ops Officer.
Stryker dropped his head and then laughed at himself. Slowly he walked back to his quarters, stowed his helmet and Carbine, stripped off his sidearm and stowed it. He'd dozed off, was having a dream about an attack when the evac order came and roused him. "good reflexes Stryker." He said aloud. He stepped out into the passageway and made his way to the port side docking hatch and got in line to exit the ship and enter the station. It had been a long time since he's found himself on a space station. 'This would be a treat.' He thought as he made his way on to the station. He needed a break.
The gorn was annoyed as he made sure everyone was out of the medical bay before following them towards the exits. A pity he'd just been able to get some free time to have someone to take a look at his arm and now he had to leave the ship. He wondered who had ordered this evacuation.
Liselle stepped suddenly in front of Sthlig, cutting off his path from the Elysium. "Doctor!" the Trill called out, exasperated. "Thank the Gods, I found you! It's Feyth. Something is wrong with her!" Qwyyn pointed a short way down the corridor where the very pregnant Bajoran held her swollen belly with one hand, the other hand steadying herself against a nearby bulkhead.
The gorn instantly went into professional mode grabbing two of the nurses and sending them off to grab a hover trolly and some supplies from the medbay. " Why now of all times." Feyth. It's okay. Have the contractionsss ssstarted? " The gorn asked as he pulled out his medical scanner and began running it over the Bajoran.
Eyes wide, she looked up at the doctor and nodded frantically.
Matias heard the evacuation order. He was nonplussed by it, there was no reason for it. "Emergency shutdown of Engineering," he said. "And lock it down." He was busy leading the shutdown and locking it away in his own encryption. None would be able to start it up but him. "Everybody go! I'll catch up with you."
As the order filled the air, Lia was sat on her bunk. She hadn't slept since the meeting with the others, her mind returned to a similar situation over five years ago. She'd frozen back then and her partner had been killed, she wasn't about to let it happen again. Styles could handle this alone, she was better on the sidelines far away from getting anyone else killed. Grabbing a small suitcase with belongings, she headed for the exit off the ship. Everyone seemed ok and there was no panic, once on DS9 she went to the promenade deck and found the Elysium. oO Goodbye old girl, I only hope to hell we can get you back Oo she thought to herself.
For his part, Gary had gone to his cabin and packed a small bag and exited the ship. He had no particular destination in mind as he found himself on the promenade level of the station and she just idly strolled along going from one shop to another. Inwardly he hoped that this 'brilliant' idea Command had was going to blow up in their face.
"Commander Gronkill," Arri noted as she checked the systems in Main Enginering. "I am reading all engines at station-keeping and all power systems powered down. The ship is secure. I'm initiating a standard lock-down of all command systems." She noted as she typed on a console.
Matias looked and he had encrypted the systems in a code only he knew. "Very good." he said.
"Confirmed, the ship is secure. Time to evac, Commander." Arri noted.
Matias nodded and left.
Tate was naturally surprised by the evacuation order as there didn't appear to be an emergency, but nevertheless, she complied, finding herself directing others safely to the exits even as she tried to find answers. Her thoughts turned to Feyth, as she knew the heavily pregnant woman would be moving more slowly than others and perhaps even more alarmed. Moving briskly down the corridor, Tate managed to spot her, her relief replaced with concern as soon as she saw the doctor with her. Was he being extra careful or was something wrong? "Feyth?" she asked, stepping forward. "Are you ok?"
"I think --" she stopped herself, allowing for a steadying breath "-- I think it's time."
Liselle took a hold of Feyth's arm, more to keep herself standing than to lend any support. "Are you sure? Gods! Now? What do we do? The ship is being evacuated! Can't this wait? We have to get her onto the station!"
"It's going to be OK," Tate reassured the mother to be, but she also directed her words to Liselle. It was true this wasn't an exactly ideal time for Feyth to go into labor, but Sullivan knew it was important to keep her calm. "Babies have a habit of coming in their own time," the counselor added with a small smile. She was excited because this was an event that was a long time coming. Tate and Feyth had become close over the course of her pregnancy and tape hadn't forgotten the weight of the promise she had given the Bajoran. Recalling her emergency medical training and their Lamaze classes, she asked, "When did your contractions start?"
"This morning," Feyth breathed. "I thought it was Braxton Hicks again. It got so bad that I had to lie down in my quarters. When the order to evac came I got up and it hit me almost right away. It's baby time." She reached out and grabbed Tate's arm, locking her eyes with her. "You remember your promise?"
"Feyth everything going to be fine. We'll take you to the nearessst sssickbay and sssoon you're going to be able to hold you're baby in your armsss." The gorn stated calmly as the two nurses arrived with the holo stretcher and supplies. " Just lie down and we'll get you there sssafe and sssound."
The Bajoran did as he instructed, using Tate's hands for support to lower herself down, still not letting them go once she had. "Can she stay with me?" Feyth asked Sthilg. "She did all my classes with me. I want her to stay."
"Of courssse. " The gorn said already going into full professional mode. He grabbed one of the nurses and sent him forward to make sure one of the bays would be free. His artificial arm clicked as his chubby fingers shrank becoming long thin instruments. " Don't worry my dear. I've been delivering children sssince before your grandparentsss were born. How often are the contarctionsss?" he asked as he fired up his wrist computers scanner.
