Phoenix had four packs at her feet as the four senior staff officers she had summoned filed into the transporter room.

"Ah Sthilg, S'hib, Gary, Anna. Good. Welcome." Her lips were smiling. "I figure while we have some downtime, it would be a good time to get you all involved in a bit of Team Building." She handed each officer a pack. "Food for the day water, tricorders, everything bar sleeping equipment because you will not be spending the night down there. I am going to beam you to a place on the planet, and the four of you are going to spend the day exploring, working together. And get to know each other." She waved them onto the transporter padd.

Gary picked up a pack and slung it over a shoulder. "Sounds both interesting and stimulating." He didn't know what Phoenix had planned for them, but he knew it would be in a word...challenging. As he stepped onto a padd he looked at the others, "Let's get started."

Sthilg nodded, picked up one of the packs, and slung it over his shoulder. " Anything we should know about?" he added.

"You mean other than us not spending the night down there?" Gary joked with the security chief.

S'hib glanced at Gary, shrugging dismissively at his comment while approaching the remaining packs on the floor. "I might just stay the night anyway, welcome to join..."

"Play nice S'hib" Phoenix reminded him. "And if you wish to spend the night let us know and we will send down tents and such but I don't think you will need them."

"I am playing nice..." S'hib remarked, his voice straining somewhat as he leaned down the vast distance that was between him and the floor.

"It's just been a while since I've had to use my tail for anything," He added, slinging the pack over his shoulder before clicking up onto the transporter.

"Was hoping to build a shelter."

Anna put the bag over her shoulder and stepped onto the transporter. She looked between S'hib and Gary as she stepped onto the pad. "A day in the sun," she said.

"Hopefully." Gary answered with a smile.

"Have a nice day!" Phoenix called as the 4 were beamed down to the planet.

Finding themselves on the planet they looked around taking stock. Sand as far as their eyes could see stretched out before them. When they turned to look behind them, they found a dense rain forest. It was one of the few inland seas of sand they had seen from orbit. In the forest they could hear the noises of the animals within, but the sand before them, held nothing but sun, sand and nothing more.

"So, do some of us want to venture into the forest and some explore up the beach and see what we can find?" Gary asked the rest of the team.

"More like a desert than a beach," Anna said. "A lot like home."

"Where's home?" Gary inquired.

"Texas," she said. "San Antonio, but we would take a train out to the Chihuahuan Desert sometimes."

Gary nodded, Cheyenne Wyoming for me. Mountains and open plains."

"Beautiful country," Anna agreed.

"It certainly is. My home is still there." Gary answered.

"I assume mine is," Anna said, but she glanced to Gary. She didn't know what had happened on Earth since she'd been gone.

" I don't see why it wouldn't be. Is there a reason why it may not be?" Gary asked politely.

"Not that I know of," she said. "But it's been a few years. Maybe it was redeveloped or there was a weather control system malfunction. I don't have any particular reason to think that. I just have no information at all."

"Positive thoughts that it is still there." Gary offered sincerely.

" Well i don't know about the ressst of you, but i'd like to take a look at the jungle. I'm assure the biofauna will be fascinating." Sthilg said to the group

Gary looked at the jungle. "Sure Doc, sounds like a good idea. We can even take some samples while we're in there."

Anna looked to S'hib. "If they're exploring the jungle, shall we explore the desert, sir?"

"Good thing I brought extra rations of water then." S'hib smiled. "Let's go."

Anna started off with him. "Very good thing," she agreed. She could feel the desert heat up above her. She took out her tricorder. "Let's see if we can find any lifesigns. Deserts are often more alive than they look to the casual observer."

"This is true," S'hib remarked as he strode towards the nearest dune. "The Red Sea of Sequella is home to many creatures big and small..."

He turned slightly, slowing his pace so Anna could catch up. "Though even the hardiest of them dare not venture too deep."

"We'll see what this desert holds," Anna said, bringing her own tricorder to bare.

Sthilg group headed into the thick jungle. The gorn pulled a small foraging bag from his backpack which he extended as he looked around for any plants that looked interesting. " Let me ssscan anything you want to take back to the ssship." He added to his team. The last thing he needed was someone to have an allergic reaction.

"Sounds like a good idea Doc." Gary replied, "We don't want anyone getting sick or worse." Even as he spoke Gary was looking all around for any sign of insects or animal life. He was of the opinion that the jungle would be teaming with life if one looked.

The gorn nodded as he got to work. He began clipping some flowers and leaves before eying what looked like a fruit bush. Giving it a quick scan the gorn began harvesting the berries carefully placing them in his pouch.

While Sthilg was taking samples of the flowers and leaves, Gary was searching for any animals that were small enough to catch and get samples from. He was able to catch a small lizard and what appeared to be this world's version of a toad and was able to get some skin samples from both.

After many hours the gorn had a very over sized bag and was heading back to the transporter site to meet up with the rest of his team.

The group beamed up chatting about their discoveries.
