Mission: Season 3: Episode 4: Cause and Effect
Location: Bridge
Timeline: MD 8 - 23h
1658 words - 3.3 OF Standard Post Measure

The call went out, waking all senior staff and ensign Derani and calling them to the bridge.

Phoenix took the centre chair, glad to be sitting down, but wishing she was still in bed.

Gary arrived next, his eyes alert as he crossed the bridge to his station. "Captain." He said by way of greeting.
He settled into his seat and began looking at the data streaming across his console.

Phoenix nodded.

A little while later, trying not to yawn, Miraj made it on to the bridge, still tying her hair into its bunches. She was curious what would need her at helm, but she wasn't going to ask. She went over to the helm, and sat down, checking the telemetry for their position automatically.

"Ensign, Plot a course that will keep us hidden from earth's night side and get us to the dark side of the moon please." Phoenix called out.

Anje and Gallia walked in together, side by side, as Gallia approached and sat at her console alongside Miraj, "Sorry te wake ye, Pinkie pie, but we need ye special skills is whet."

"How fast do you want to get there, ma'am?" Miraj asked.

" As fast as we can without attracting attention."

"Aye, ma'am." Miraj quickly ran the calculations, and checked the capacity of the engines. Warp 2. Well. It was better than nothing. She slowly ramped up the warp drive. and in a few moments the stars were streaking by.

Anje took up the seat at communications, even though she knew it wouldn't be needed, there was nobody around to communicate with, "Permission to begin scans for the source of the signal, Captain?" She asked, not content to sit and do nothing.

"Do so." Lalor replied

Alicia arrived on the bridge doing her best to look wide eyed and bushy tailed, even though she was half asleep. Being a Counsellor was all well and good but sleeping was at a premium when you had thoughts of crew welfare running through your head 24 hours a day. Thankfully Savar always knew how to help her relax and unwind. Walking over to her seat she nodded to Phoenix.

Kara arrived next, cup of coffee in hand. She exited the turbolift, taking her place at the bridge engineering station. "Good morning!" She cheerfully sang, she was wide awake because she hadn't gone to sleep the night before. ~I'm gonna regret that all-nighter in the Engineering holo-lab later.~ She thought to herself.

As she entered, Lia looked about her. The sight she beheld showed people half asleep, only one or two seemed truly awake. She made her way slowly to Tactical, "I would say good morning, but it isn't. It isn't good, and no way is it morning". She glanced at the view screen, "Oh look, the moon. Yea us, hiding behind the moon". She flicked her console onto deep scan and waited, she wasn't expecting anything to show up. But she unexpectantly got a return, it was sitting on the moon's surface. "Ah Captain, don't quite know how to say this. But we have something sitting on the surface of the moon, and it's showing as some kind of satellite".

Gallia was torn between wanting to give her fiance a warm greeting and wanting to give her a swift kick in her butt, such was her annoyance at that moment; Kara hadn't come home last night, causing Tayalas to panic when Gallia couldn't tell her where her other mommy was, "So nice o ye te join us." Gallia said sarcastically, but low enough where only she and Kara could hear, "Ye coulda at least lemme know ye weren't comin' home, so I woulda knew what te tell our child."

The door opened again as the tired chief MD stepped through the doors. He said nothing, but the thousand-yard stare n his scaly face said everything as he took his place on the bridge.

Varis was always the late one to the party. However, for the first time since boarding the Elysium he actually felt like he had something to do on the bridge. It was for this reason that he chastised himself for being late. Varis quickly took his station and ran his hand through his hair. Using his DTI authorization he brought up an image of the timestream. His first order of business was to make sure that the timeline suffered no ill effects. As of now all looked good.

Naxea finally arrived from her office in Marine Country. The two locations were a stark contrast to one another. It always took some adjusting to the change in decor and even deck and bulkhead designs no matter how many times she made the trip. The atmospheres between the two areas were in contrast as well as life in Marine Country was far stricter than the rest of the ship, especially now that Rhodes was her new XO. "Major Azhul reporting, Captain," she announced as she stepped onto the bridge, taking a moment to glance at the view screen.

Casper joined the rest of the Senior Officers on the Bridge; stifling a yawn as he had already been up since the crack of dawn he moved over to one of the walls on the Bridge and stood there. He was curious on why he was being called to the Bridge with the rest of the Senior staff, there had to be something really interesting.

Phoenix looked over her shoulder at Lia "The signal is coming from Earth, What do you mean something is on the moon?"

"With respect to Cdr. Holmes' moon issues, I've narrowed the source of the signal down to the British Isles in the North Sea." Anje said, even though that was still a huge area to search, it was no longer the entirety of the world.

Kara looked over to Gallia, worried. She felt awful, but personal matters would have to wait until shift end. "North sea? The only thing out there in this century, would be a bunch of oil rigs and tanker ships, at least as far as history goes. Certainy shouldnae be anythin' capable of sendin' signals intae ooter space, let alone tae us." She explained.

"An' those willnae be there for another three hundred years at least." Gallia added, turning to Anje.

"No, you misunderstand or maybe I misspoke." Anje laughed, "The signal is coming from somewhere in the British Isles, which are in the North Sea. Not from the sea itself."

Re checking her read outs, Lia simply nodded. "I don't care where your signal is coming from, my sensors tell me we have a satellite of some sort half buried on the moons surface". She looked over to Anje, "They might be related, but as we have crew who can't go to Earth. Maybe we can cover both, what do you think Captain?"

"I'd like to volunteer to go to the moon with Cdr. Holmes, Captain." Anje quickly interjected, this was a kind of rare opportunity, unheard of in their current times, "I mean, since I clearly can't go to 17th century Earth with a haircut three centuries too soon and ears they're not going to be ready for for another five centuries."

" I'll go to earth if no one needsss the MD for the moon missssssion." The gorn said already thinking of a way of hiding hs massve bulk.

Naxea's eyes widened and she bit her lip to keep from laughing at the comment she'd just heard from the CMO. A Gorn? On ancient Earth? "Well, the humans of this time do believe in dragons, don't they? And I'm for the moon mission as my ridges may cause an issue."

" My dear you've not ssseen what doctorsss from this time wore." the gorn replied with a wink and a grin.

"Great, I would think the Doctor might come in handy moreso on the moon mission than on Earth." Anje offered, "No disrespect, Doctor, but we send you to Earth in the 17th century if our mission is to make people shit themselves."

"There's another way we can use Dr. Bossk... Dr. Sthilg and possibly provide ourselves the cover te move aboot. The circus is whet."

Phoenix wanted to kill someone she really did. "Lieutenant Hoffman is taking a shuttle for supplies, and Commander Holmes will take a team to that artifact. We may have to remove it from the Moon. Mr Varis and Lt. Commander An Vantar will lead the small away team to the signal." She stated it firmly. m"I want all away teams prepped and ready to depart at 09h00 tomorrow."

"And no circus." Gary stated just in case there was some doubt about that.

" I want anyone going to earth down in sssickbay for an inoculation. The Britisssh islesss are having an outbreak of the black plague and i don't want it coming back to the ssship." The gorn added.

Lia now simply nodded, "Anje, could you prepare a shuttle and pilot it please. And I will take S'hib, Lokaa, Triannth and S'Niohun along with me, is that ok with you Captain?"

The vsmall grey dot in the centre of the view screen suddlenly expanded an d they were staring at the sun drenched craters of the the 'dark' side of the moon, "We've arrived, ma'am." Miraj announced.

Kara spoke up, as she monitored the warp engines condition. "Aye, apologies. Warp 2 is the best I can gi' us got fer right now, and all but two of our phaser banks are totally offline. Try not to get inta any trouble while I'm away tomorrow." She jested, trying to light up the mood as best as she could.

"Right, right, so I've gotta do a couple things before goin' down tomorrow." Gallia added, looking forward to going down to the planet.
