Lt. Commander Vaii showed up in a crisp and perfect dress uniform complete with medals. She also wore a dress rapier and leaned against the wall. She was also there on a mission. The Bouquet would be hers.
Warrant Officer Man'darr stepped into the wedding location, dressed in his Marine Dress Uniform. He tugged at the sleeve some and shrugged his shoulder. "I will kill the person who designed this damned uniform," he cursed. then noticed Vaii leaning against a nearby wall and nodded at the woman. "Commander," he greeted.
"One moment Officer." Jessica moved behind Man'darr to help straighten his uniform, especially his collar. "I'm guessing you're as proud of this uniform as I am? And if you're anything like me, you won't be caught dead in anything less than your best."
"You're correct but my best was never made for Capellans," Man'darr grumbled.
"The squadron always has your back. And they don't make these very well for Betazoids either." She straightened it. "Perfect."
"Thank you," Man'darr thanked the woman. "Do you know the bride and groom personally?"
"Not really. I'm here for my own objectives, Officer." SHe smirked.
"Oh?" Man'darr raised an eyebrow and smirked at the woman. "Mind if I ask or is it classified?"
"Need to know information, Officer." Jess leaned against the wall and smirked.
Walking into the Holodeck with Savar, Alicia looked around. She could barely believe she was on Betazed, it had been a long time since she was last home. The romantic hillside venue overlooked a sea view and it was the ideal remote romantic scene. The sun was shining and the sea was crystal clear and blue. “I’m home.” She looked at Savar.
The only outward sign of emotion Savar gave was a gentle squeezing of Alicia's hand. Her happiness and joy were his and he was pleased to be able to take part in her happiness. " Your happiness pleases me Alicia. Your world is quite beautiful. Someday we will travel to Vulcan and you can see it. It is nothing like this."
“I’d like that Savar, I’d like that very much” Alicia smiled warmly as they made their way across to some seats that were set out on the grass.
"And I would like to show you Alicia. I believe you would find Vulcan...interesting." Savar replied as they walked to their seats.
"I'm sure I would" Alicia smiled warmly. "I'll look forward to it."
Captain Lalor, dressed in her dress whites entered. She wore no medals, choosing to just wear her plain White uniform. She carried the old fashioned book, Sharr had left when he had given up his freedom for his crew to return to the Alpha quadrant. The Book was the one he had used when performing weddings. It was black leather bound.
She moved through the group to the front of the room.
Lia followed Phoenix into the holodeck, she stopped to look around. She waited for Gary to catch her up, then they would find their seats.
It was only a moment before Gary was beside Lia taking her hand in his as they made their way to their seats.
Fernando had finally gotten dressed and made it to the holodeck. He was resplendent in his black tuxedo with a white shirt and black bow tie. A distinctly classic look. However sometimes you couldn't beat the classics. He looked around, the scene was breathtaking in it's beauty. He patted his pant pocket and felt the small velvet box holding Heather's wedding ring. He took a deep breath to calm his nerves and found it only made him more nervous. He saw Captain Lalor walking up the aisle to him. She was dressed in her dress white uniform and made quite the impression
Turning the corner with Naxea on his arm S'hib surveyed those already there, his gut tightening at all the dress uniforms on display. "Are weddings really this formal?" He asked Naxea quietly, wondering if he had made a horrible mistake.
"Be grateful you never have to attend a Bajoran wedding. Those can get even more formal than this...and alot more religious," Naxea commented as she took in the scene, feeling out of place in her dress. "Yep, definitely feeling naked."
“I've lost count how many times you’ve said that tonight, but I don't understand it... You’re beautiful with or without any-“ S’hib said before pausing suddenly, finding the look in her eye to be rather commanding. “W-what I mean is... umm i'm gonna stop talking.”
Naxea cocked a grin at S'hib. "Wise move...and the saying means feeling vulnerable, out of place."
"Uniform or not, you still command the respect of your rank... Ma'am." S'hib smiled back while leaning down to kiss the side of her head.
"Thank you," she replied. "Come on. We better find a seat," she gestured to a pair of seat towards the back.
Heather arrived outside the holodeck with Tallia, to say she was feeling nervous was an understatement. She took a deep breath before slowly entering through the holodeck doors as the music started, she slowly started down the aisle between the seating arrangement her eyes focused on Fernando waiting at the other end.
Fernando's head turned as Heather accompanied by Tallia, slowly made her way up the aisle. As beautiful as the setting was it was second to Heather's. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and now in her wedding dress he was even more aware of the fact. A bright but nervous smile spread across his face as Heather drew closer.
Heather smiled the biggest smile yet as she saw Fernando waiting for her. She could also sense his nervousness. As she walked alongside him she handed her flowers to Tate, offering a warm smile before turning back to Fernando. She took his hand and held it tightly as they turned to face Phoenix.
As Heather's hand clasped and held his, Fernando felt his nervousness melt away and he knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that this was exactly where he wanted to be and Heather was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He smiled at her as they faced Phoenix, ready to begin their new life and journey together as man and wife.
Phoenix smiled and opened the book in her hands. She held it carefully and began to speak. "Welcome! Good afternoon, family and friends. We have come here today to celebrate the wedding of Fernando and Heather. On behalf of the bride and groom, thank you for joining us. By your presence, you celebrate with them the love they have discovered in each other, and you support their decision to commit themselves to a lifelong relationship. Marriage is a bond to be entered into only after considerable thought and reflection. By making this commitment today, Fernando and Heather’s relationship will become stronger, better, and deeper. Today, Fernando and Heather demonstrate their devotion to each other by dedicating themselves to a life together and they show their respect for each other. By setting forth to honor the vows they have created today, their lives, which began on separate paths, will be joined as one. Each of us knows that a marriage is not created by a law or a ceremony; rather it occurs in the hearts of two beings. It grows out of loving, caring, and sharing ourselves with another. This ceremony is not magic, it will not create a relationship that does not already exist and has not already been celebrated in all the commitments Fernando and Heather have made to each other, both large and small, in the days since they first met and recognized their connection to one another. So, in witnessing this ceremony today, we are observing only an outward sign of an inward union that already exists between Fernando and Heather. This ceremony is a symbol of how far they have come together and a symbol of the promise that they will make to each other to continue to live their lives together and to love each other solely and above all others." She paused and drew breath. "There are only two official witnesses at a wedding but each and every person here today will witness the words that they will speak to one another and the vows that they will make. You should take good care to remember these words; for a marriage needs the help of a community, of friends and family who will be there when needed and will do all that they can during hard times to stand by Fernando and Heather and offer their support to them and the new family that they create today. May you always do all within your power to support the union that will be made here today and to nurture the bond between these two people whom you love." now Phoenix looked at the pair. "Are you ready?" she asked impishly and turned the page.
Fernando gulped and replied, "Ready."
Heather squeezed Fernando’s hand reassuringly. “I’m ready Captain.”
"A successful marriage is not something that just happens. It takes work, it takes patience, and it takes time. It takes a commitment from both of you… a commitment to do whatever it takes to make your relationship thrive and not just simply survive."
"Fernando, will you take Heather to be your lawfully wedded wife and travel the rest of life’s road with her? Will you love her, laugh with her, comfort her, honor and protect her, and forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?"
Fernando nodded and then said quite clearly, "I do."
"Heather, will you take Fernando to be your lawfully wedded Husband and travel the rest of life’s road with him? Will you love him, laugh with him, comfort him, honor and protect him, and forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?"
Heather looked to Fernando, her smile practically shone. “I do.”
Smiling, Phoenix said "You both have prepared vows, please" she motioned for them to speak
Fernando's eyes were focused on Heather, she was the only one he saw, everyone else was blurry and unfocused. He had memorized what he wanted to say and he began. "Heather, now you will feel no rain, for I will be your shelter. Now you will feel no cold, for I will be your warmth. Now there will be no loneliness, for you for I will be your companion and by your side forever. Now we are two persons, but there is only one life before us. May our journey ahead and through all the years be filled with beauty and love. May happiness be our companion and our days together be good and long upon the earth."
Heather took a deep breath shutting out the feelings of those around her as best she could as she looked into Fernando’s eyes. “Fernando, you have been my guiding light and guardian angel ever since the day you rescued me and helped me become my true self again.” She paused. “I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you, you are my Imzadi and you are my soul mate. Now I’ve found you I will be beside you always.”
Phoenix calmly joined their hands together. "This is the point in the ceremony when people talk about the wedding bands being a perfect circle, having no beginning and no end. But we all know that these rings have a beginning. Rock is dug up from the earth. Metals are liquefied in a furnace at a thousand degrees. The hot metal is forged, cooled, and then painstakingly polished. Something beautiful made from raw elements. Love is like that. It comes from humble beginnings, made by imperfect beings. It is the process of making something beautiful where there was once nothing at all. The promises which you have spoken to each other today are inscribed forever in your minds, in your hearts. But words are fleeting so let these rings serve as a reminder of the feelings you have in your hearts at this very moment. Now, Repeat after me:"
She motioned to Fernando "With this ring I am giving you my promise/to always love you/ cherish you/honor you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you/and keep my heart open to you/all the days of my life."
Fernando took the ring from the box, careful not to drop it and placed it onto Heather's finger. As he did he spoke. "With this ring I am giving you my promise/to always love you/ cherish you/honor you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you/and keep my heart open to you/all the days of my life."
"Heather, your turn: With this ring I am giving you my promise to always love you, cherish you, honor you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you and keep my heart open to you all the days of my life."
Heather slowly slid Fernando’s ring onto his finger as she spoke. “With this ring I am giving you my promise to always love you, cherish you, honour you and comfort you. I promise that I will love you and keep my heart open to you all the days of my life."
"Heather, Fernando, no one but you can declare yourselves married. You have begun it here today in speaking your vows before your family and friends and you will do it again in the days and years to come, standing by each other, sharing all that is sweet and bitter in life. Each tender act, each loving word will be the declaration of what was made here today. Therefore, it is my joyful responsibility to officially acknowledge your union as “Husband and Wife”. You may now seal your marriage with a kiss."
Fernando smiled brilliantly as Phoenix finished and told them they could seal their marriage with a kiss. He looked at Heather, took her in his arms and gave her a kiss that conveyed all his love for her. As far as he was concerned she was the strongest and most courageous woman he knew and now she was his wife.
Heather didn't care who else was in the room she returned Fernando's kiss with all the love she had for him. She couldn't be happier to be Mrs De La Rosa. She was the wife of the man who'd pulled her back from the brink of addiction and madness and she was going to make him the happiest man there ever was.
Smiling, as the kiss came to an end, Phoenix announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my privilege to present to you for the very first time as husband and wife, Mr and Mrs De La Rosa!"
Lia looked at Gary, and thought one day the two of them would soon stand there. She began applauding the happy couple, and slowly stood up.
Gary nodded at Lia and her actions and joined in applauding Fernando and Heather as well as standing up.
Naxea stood from her seat and applauded.
Standing with Naxea S'hib joined in with the applaud, his strange equine hands clacking like someone was clapping with there knuckles... precisely why he hated clapping.
Heather smiled proudly as she and Fernando made their way back down the aisle as man and wife.
Fernando's smile was plastered onto his face as he and Heather came down the aisle. It was a moment he never wanted to end and he knew that with Heather at his side the best was yet to come for both of them.
Phoenix announced the reception to follow and requested the crew head for it.
“One last thing” Heather turned to the crew and motioned to her bouquet. “Ladies in the room prepare yourselves!” She turned her back and moments later threw her bouquet.
Jessica tracked the Bouquet. Carefully positioning herself in position, she was cut off by someone. She drew her sword and attempted to catch it using the blade.
Naxea stood off to the side as she was in no rush to get married. She never really saw the point in women supposedly all fighting for a bouquet of flowers.
Oblivious to the tradition S'hib was unsure why everyone was now trying to catch a bundle of flowers, all he knew was that his arm was already reaching over everyone's heads to grab at the incoming food out of instinct.
Naxea's eyes went wide at seeing S'hib move towards the bouquet. "S'hib! Don't you dare!" she yelled before launching herself low at S'hib.
"Hmm?" S'hib replied in confusion, turning his head towards Naxea with his hand closed around the bouquet moments before she tackled him to the floor.
Man'darr roared with laughter at seeing S'hib being tackled. "Yes!"
Gallia, from a distance, watched as Naxea tackled S'hib, an action that caused Tayalas to panic, "Relax, love, See-a didnae hurt Sib, they're only playin' is all." She reassured, "Sib's okay, darlin', dinnae ye worry aboot it, okay?"
"Okay, mommyyy." Tayalas replied in her sing songy voice, extra cute even for her.
Gallia took Tay's hand and walked her over to her friends, whispering "Be careful ye two, ye scared Tay about hafta death. She thought ye'd hurt S'hib."
"Hey Tayalas," Naxea said as she got up, smiling at the little girl. "Are you having fun?" she smoothed her dress.
"SEE-A!!!!" Tayalas squealed joyfully, stretching her little arms out to the Marine, it was time for hugs.
"Ah think tha's a yes, Naxea." Gallia laughed, stepping closer so her friend could receive the child if she wished.
"Dammit... Mission failed. Guess it's time to return to base." Jess huffed.
Laying there holding the flowers S'hib wondered if maybe he had done something he wasn't supposed to. "I can share them if you'd like?" He asked, still regarding the flowers as food.
"One moment," Naxea said to Tayalas, holding up a finger before she snatched the flowers from S'hib and tossed them at Jess. "Rebound incoming, lieutenant!" she chuckled. "It's human tradition that whoever catches the flowers gets married next...and I'm in no rush, if that's ok with you," she cast a grin.
"Ah..." S'hib replied, his eyes wide with sudden clarity.
Naxea turned and snatched Tayalas up in her arms. She smiled at the little girl, happy to see her as she thought back on the recent happenings on not seeing the girl again. Her grin soon began to fade as she contemplated on that thought. She had never cared what happened to her before--always pushing herself to the brink of exhaustion and always taking risks. Now there was S'hib and Tayalas--both whom she cared about. "Have you been a good girl?"
Heather took a look back seeing the crew enjoying themselves was as fun as getting married itself. She grinned and looked back at Fernando. This was the happiest day of her life and she considered herself a very lucky woman.
