Captain Lalor stood in silence between the helm and operations consoles, her gaze on the large viewscreen that showed the planet below and their shuttles that were currently shuttling their away teams down to the planet and the Jefferson.
"Ensign Derani, are we safe enough here do you think?" she asked the helm officer calmly
Miraj tapped her toes on the carpet underneath the helm and thought about it. "I don't know ma'am. The Jefferson was in orbit, and reported being pulled not pushed. That would put gravity against them. We're not in orbit, and far enough back that the gravity of the planet shouldn't affect us. But without knowing what pulled them in in the first place..."
"Thank you Ensign. I know you will keep our engines on standby." Phoenix nodded and glanced at Mr Gregory at Operations. "Boost our scanners to maximum. I want scans of that planet and surrounds to be as comprehensive as we can make them. And make sure Commander T'Kara gets them."
From the Ops station, Scott nodded. "Aye Captain increasing scanner strength to maximum and forwarding results to Commander T'Kara's station."
"Thank you Lieutenant"
T'Kara preferred her environment now down in science. She simply relayed all of her findings to the bridge. Science was logic. Science was rationality. Science was order. She continued to study the planet in the planetary science lab. It was more interesting than caring who was in charge in Starfleet.
From the tactical station Malakai spoke up. It felt good to be back it an Starfleet uniform. Lily, that is Phoenix was still his CO even though he was no longer her XO. "Not reading any active weapon signatures from the planet Captain. Our weapons and shields are on standby pending your orders."
Alicia was sitting in her seat observing what was going on, keeping her senses alert for any sudden changes.
Phoenix turned and looked to Malakai at tactical. "Contact our pilots, get them into their birds." she said softly.
"Aye Captain." Malakai replied as he opened a com to the fighters. "Bridge to Flying Tigers. Attention all pilots, the word is given, get to your birds. I repeat get to your birds."
She shot him a grin and turned back to her focus.

==Diplomatic Offices, Deck Two==
Down in the Diplomatic Offices on Deck Two, Counsel Orin was working on several reports for Starfleet. Taking a moment to get away from his regular duties, Orin got up and out of his seat, walking over to the window in his office to take a look around the hustle and bustle of the rescue operation that was happening between the Jefferson, the planet below, and the Elysium.
Orin remembered various times he joined the rescue operations for various refugee groups to the Federation. He worked with them to get medical and counseling services to be able to hopefully be able to get used to some sort normalcy once they began settling into their new lives.
"Looks like a well-oiled machine," Orin said to himself before walking over to the replicator and ordering some Trill tea for himself and getting back to his reports.
Imik was sat at her desk, her fingers danced over the keyboard. "Perhaps I could fly a shuttle? Rather than just sit here and do little or nothing."
Hearing Imik say that, Orin smiled and said, "I could use my diplomatic credentials and help get you onboard one, if you so wished! Just say the word." He let out a small chuckle as he sat back down at his desk and looked over some of the comm logs for the diplomatic traffic.
Glancing over to Orin, Imik smiled. "If I had to fly, my fighter would be the first choice. But a shuttle would make a fine replacement, plus I could rescue the survivors of this mission".
"What happened anyways? I read that the Jefferson had some sort of failure onboard, but I didn't get the full brief like most of the other senior officers, since I just arrived onboard. Want to fill me in? Orin said as he looked away from the pile of paperwork sitting on his desk.
"I am unsure, all I have found out is that there are survivors onboard. For some reason Demon has left me behind, so flying with the fighters will not be an option." Imik glanced back and then resumed her report to Ojnas High Command.
"What kind of fighters are your favorite? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what group do you represent? I'm still trying to put names to faces," Orin said with a small chuckle.
Turning back to Orin, Imik smiled. "I have no favorite fighter, but the one I fly on this vessel is of Ojnas origin. I am Ojnas, and we are not a Federation species." She halted her report and waited for this individual to ask another question, he seemed a curious person.
Looking over at Imik, Orin realized that he was asking a million questions and said, "Sorry, I just like to get to know the people that I'm working with. Helps me to understand the people that come from different species and cultures from myself, especially since I'm a mixed bag myself."
"Gaining knowledge is nothing to apologise for, but if I could ask for claification. What is a mixed bag?" Imik now stood up and crossed to where Orin was sitting, "As you can see I am what the Humans call a tripod, I also am not related to species 8472 despite what the Humans think."
Taking a sip of his coffee and looking over at the person he was sharing time with, Andrinn tilted his head and said, "Yeah, I can totally see that. But, I wasn't thinking it until you mentioned it to me. But, thanks for the clarification. What part of the Milky Way Galaxy does your species hail from?"
Imik looked out towards her home planets, "Our true home lay's between the Tholian and Federation, and even looks upon DS9. We have managed to restore most of the original seven systems, only one remains under Tholian control. But in compensation we have been gifted another system, so we have seven systems once again." She stopped and let her mind return to her people's long trek, "But this situation has only just been re-established, for three thousand Earth years the Ojnas wandered the galaxy searching for a home."
"What type of star system do you have over there? I think I remember reading about it a few years ago," Orin said with a smile across his face, remembering something that he saw a few years ago about a tripedal species coming from out there.
Imik simply smiled, "You need only visit to gain all the information you wish, the Ojnas are friendly towards the Federation. And it would take a long discourse to fully explain our systems, so please excuse my reluctance to go in to detail here."
"I think I will one day, as long as you show me around, okay?" Orin said with a smile on his face.
==RED ALERT; RED ALERT==
Orin tapped his combadge when he got up to look out the viewport that looked out towards the planet. "Orin to Main Bridge. What....is....that?"
Imik now pressed her comms badge, "Legate S'Niohun to the bridge, may I inquire if my assistance is required? I stand ready if needed."
==Marine Country; Weapons Range==
Naxea let out a slow breath as she depressed the trigger on the CQB pulse rifle sending a phaser pulse towards the target set at 500 yards away. The energy pulse struck the upper right area of the target. She sighed in frustration yet she needed to keep busy as she didn't like being left behind on a rescue mission. She had to keep telling herself that Captain Tonelly and the assigned Marines would do their jobs just fine without her. On top of that, S'hib was down there leading a group, knowing that he wasn't fond of diving suits--hell she had heard enough complaints from him about wearing the standard Starfleet Uniform. She took aim again, firing another shot that hit center mass this time.
Leilani leant against the wall as she stood watching Naxea, she completely understood how she was feeling. Given both their conditions neither of them was allowed in the field. “Frustrating, isn’t it?” She offered a smile.
She lowered the weapons from her shoulder and looked at Leilani. "Frustrating doesn't even begin to cover it," she stated. "I'm used to leading missions, leading from the front--done it my entire career, and now I'm forced to stay on the ship."
Leilani nodded. “You, and me both Colonel. I should be out there incase any of our people are wounded, but like you I’m not allowed off ship. Guess it’s a small price to pay for the welfare of our children though.”
"I know I still have a ways to go but I'm already getting sick of being pregnant," Naxea grinned. "On the bright side, I have S'hib wrapped around my finger and at my beck and call," she winked.
Leilani grinned. “The men certainly do worry about us don’t they? Can’t say I don’t enjoy it though.”
"And I plan to take full advantage of it," Naxea smirked before taking aim again and firing off another shot that struck the target.
==RED ALERT; RED ALERT==
The sudden blaring of the Red Alert Klaxon had startled Naxea as she lowered the weapon. "Never a dull time on this ship," she commented. "You better get to Sickbay," she looked at Leilani. She began to make her way to her Office to better direct the remaining Marines should they be required.
Leilani nodded. “I’m on my way Colonel.” With that she headed for Sickbay.
== Sickbay ==
Kara was busy in Sickbay covering for both Heather and Emily whilst they were off ship. Checking and restocking supplies could be tedious, but it was a job she didn’t mind doing.
Sthilg walked past as carrying a large box marked spare blood. He had the replicator going at the full title to hopefully give them a large enough supply. Placing it down he picked up the padd and gave the checklist a look over.
“We’re all stocked and ready Doctor” Kara smiled as she walked over to Sthilg.
At 4 months pregnant her slim figure was already showing a small bump. “We’ve got plenty of supplies still in the cargo bay as well.”
" Don't tempt fate my friend ssshe really lovesss messsing with usss." Sthilg said as he fiddled with his collar as he placed the padd down.
"Yet, somehow, we always manage to prevail," Tate replied, approaching with her own list of things completed. Of course, she knew they hadn't escaped without casualties many times, but no matter the obstacle, she had seen this crew come together for a common cause more times than she could count. They were truly a family. "All routine medical appointments have been completed so a number of the staff are on standby if we need them."
Turning to Kara, she offered with a smile, "At the risk of asking you what others may ask you 1 million times a day or making you feel like an invalid, may I ask how you're feeling?"
Kara offered Tate a smile. “I’m feeling perfectly fine, thank you. It’s Tate isn’t it?”
Sullivan nodded. "I see my reputation precedes me," she added jokingly. "You're Kara?"
Kara nodded. “That’s me!” She smiled warmly. “My husband and I transferred here when Lil...Captain Lalor returned to the Elysium.”
" Excusssse me." Sthilg said as he carried out a spare biobed.
“Sorry Doctor!” Kara moved aside out of the way. “Would you like me to check on progress in the cargo bay? Make sure it’s all ready?”
The gorn gave a thumbs-up as he carefully placed the bed down and engaged the clamps.
Kara nodded then looked to Tate. “I’ll see you later Tate.”
"See you later," Sullivan replied, for a moment smiling at the prospect of a new life soon to join them. At the same time, however, the sobering thought came to her that not even little ones could truly be safe as long as they lived aboard a starship. Still, she was going to do all she could to protect the lives of the crew.
==RED ALERT; RED ALERT==
==Flying Tigers Launch Bays==
Hearing the comman from the bridge, George, being in temporary command of the squadron while Jess was off-ship, called out to his fellow pilots. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, you heard the orders, get in your birds! Alpha Flight, you're with me! Beta Flight you are on ready stand-by. If there's any trouble, you launch immediately. Now let's move people!" He then hustled to his starfighter, Tink was already strapped in getting tge systems started up.
Less than five minutes later, the first group if fighters were in the launch tubes, ready to go. The second group were in their fighters, canopies open for now. They would move into launch position as soon as Alpha Flight was launched.
"Bridge, this is Demon," George spoke, giving his callsign now. "Alpha Flight is ready to launch on your command."
"You may launch, Captain," Came the commanding officer's voice through the comm. "Stay close and keep an eye out."
"Aye, Ma'am! My birds will keep any unfriendlies away from you!" He then switched his comms to the channel that the squadron used. "Alpha Flight, launch! Once clear, assume rotating defensive tracks around Elysium. All pilots, stay with your assigned wingman!" He then looked over at the Deck Boss and nodded, then saluted, signaling that he was ready.
Over the next thirty seconds, the entire Alpha Flight had been launched. Inside the ship, as each fighter was launched, a starfighter from Beta Flight was moved into launch position and held. They would only be launched if the ship was attacked by a foe with superior numbers.

Phoenix didn't sit. Something did not sit right in this. "Science? Any signs of technology that could pull a starship out of orbit?"
T'Kara responded. "Technology or Anomaly, Captain. Or even something not completely within the realm of explanation. We'll need analysis, as I can only explain things within the realm of Science."
Phoenix nodded.
At Ops, Scott was looking at his console when suddenly his interest peaked as he stared at what he was seeing. "Captain, I've got something rising out of the water in close proximity of where the Jefferson went down." He stopped to get more information then continued. "It's a monolith Captain, no outward markings. At least a hundred meters tall. Low power readings but they are beginning to build."
Alicia looked at Phoenix. “Is it possible that’s what brought the Jefferson down?”
"Lets not take chances. Shields up, Weapons hot, Red Alert!" Phoenix called out. "Ms Derani, back us up a bit further please." And throughout the ship, lights flashed and claxons began to wail.
"Power levels on the monolith are still rising Captain." Scott said as his eyes were glued to his board and the readings it showed.
T'Kara spoke. "I recommend caution, Captain. If our Hypothesis is correct, this object dragged a Federation Starship out of orbit and into the oceans.
Miraj touched the control, and Elysium peeled away, setting course to hide behind Ki'V 3. Whatever was down there hadn't managed to pull an entire planet out of orbit, and Ki'V 3 was still seven minutes away at full impulse. If that wasn't far enough away, no where in system was.
"Com. the fighters, tell them to tighten their formation" Phoenix ordered and gripped the back of Miraj's chair. "Mr Gregory? On screen with that monolith please."
"Transporter room, get a lock on our pilots just in case!" Phoenix called out to the transporter officer.
"Yes Captain"
Scott worked his console, "Transferring image of monolith to main viewscreen." Scott answered as the monolith appeared. It was dark and ominous as well as menacing in it's appearance.
She frowned and her hand gripped the back of the Ops Chair as if holding on for life.
Orin tapped his combadge when he got up to look out the viewport that looked out towards the planet. "Orin to Main Bridge. What....is....that?"
"Ambassador, we are as yet uncertain. Please remain secure until red alert has ended." Came the reply.
Imik now pressed her comms badge, "Legate S'Niohun to the bridge, may I inquire if my assistance is required? I stand ready if needed."
===Flying Tigers===
As George led his pilots around another orbital path around Elysium, his starfighter's sensors started to scream a warning. "Tink! What the hell is going on?!"
George's friend and REO looked over her sensor screens. "By the Grand Inquisitor's breath! There's a huge monolith rising from the ocean on the planet below, Boss!" She pressed a few controls and activated the holoimager next to George's head, allowing him to see what she was seeing.
"Holy shit..." George whispered, just before he heard the orders for his pilots to tighten up around the Elysium as she started to pinwheel to port and moved away from the planet.
"Tigers, on me! Stay close to Mother Hen while she runs for the coop!"
Then, as the might starship finished her turn, Alpha Flight took up station behind her, guarding her after section as they fled deeper into the system.
==BRIDGE==
"Send word to our away teams to return to the shuttles and wait for our return" Phoenix ordered comms.
"Aye" came the call from Comms.
"Tactical, firing solution please!" She was not taking chances on this mission.

Thumbs up y'all. :)
Got something for everyone in this post. Some beauty shots of the Elysium, I don't think this is the first time we saw Imik, but that dialogue scene with the new CDO is awesome. I love the bit where Imik comes around the desk and is like, "Oh, I we have three legs" and how Consul Orin is so cool with it. Very good dialogue and we learn something along the way. Its called "Learnding".
We got some Marines and so the post goes up a bunch of notches right there. Weapons range practice and a spot on shot for the Colonel. We got doctor stuff in the middle. A nice soft, creamy middle.
Then we get some yummy Flying Tigers action and some sorta something coming up out of the water. Nice! Sprinkled with Red Alert for some color and some cool reaction shots from the Consul and the Captain and some more sweet shots of the Elysium peeling out of orbit and leaving clouds of impulse engine dust in her wake.
Nice. A well-balanced post. Love it. Thumbs up! Thanks for an enjoyable read all.
