Mission: Season 5: Episode 1: No Exit
Location: Bridge, Deck 1
Timeline: MD 1 08h00
1348 words - 2.7 OF Standard Post Measure

"Stardate 74022.82 The Elysium is en-route to collect a small shuttle carrying scientists from Ariannus. In 2268, Ariannus was infected by a bacterial invasion that threatened to destroy all life on the planet. The crew of the USS Enterprise, working in tandem with the planet's ministry of health, conducted an orbital decontamination mission to save the planet's inhabitants. And it has become a major research centre for Federation Scientists ever since. This group have just finished 6 months on Ariannus, where they were researching the historic illness. It seems that their research could be used to assist others. Personally, I am just happy to have a quiet mission. Once we collect them, we will transport them to Starbase 768. It should be a quick mission and once done, I am sure we will be back on our normal mission. Which will be to pick up our away team. We sent an away team to Quell'ish. It’s a distant M-Class world and the Federation is looking to use it as a jumping off point for further exploration into the Beta Quadrant. I just hope they had a quiet time. Not something totally horrible like other away missions.”

"On a personal level, my mother Kiana Lalor and my brother Kyian Lalor have settled into living under my roof. And Miran has stopped threatening our brother with death every time he sees her leave the cabin with friends. And mother has shown an interest in the twins. Which is ok with me, though I have a holo nanny on duty the whole time. And she is not allowed to take the twins out of the cabin. Neither is Kyian. I had thought to take them to Earth but Elysium is safer currently. And they are where i can keep an eye on communications and the like. Miran seems to have settled in with her friends after the birth of the twins. And Triston Montgomery seems to be hanging around more than normal. Mother is concerned about Miran's purity. I'd be personally surprised that if at nearly 17 she is still a virgin, but then again, Triston is not the sort of boy to pressure my sister. Frankly I wish they would just get it over with. They have been dancing around each other for years now." - END Log

Phoenix stepped out onto the bridge from her ready room. She glanced at the bridge crew and then towards the Andorian at Helm. "ETa Ensign"

"60 seconds until we drop out of Warp Captain. The Andorian reported from Helm.

"Good. Avalon, notify all hands that we have arrived at Ariannus. And inform Commander Au Vantar that she is to meet our guests in Shuttle bay one."

The AI who had been just lurking on the bridge nodded.

Comms called out "Captain, Ariannus Flight Control has contacted us. THe shuttle will be ready when we arrive. "

"Inform them they can launch on Schedule" Phoenix said.

The helm officer glanced at her scopes. "Dropping out of warp now Captain. Engineering has shut it down."

The Elysium dropped gracefully out of warp.

Gallia, from her position at ops, was one of the first to see the planet up close, awe struck by it's beauty, "This is why we do it. This is magical."

“I agree with you there Lieutenant” Alicia smiled from where she sat relaxing in her seat. Now she was, for all intents sand purposes, on maternity leave she was making the most of having the extra time to be on the bridge.

Victor was in a Engineering as his team was delighted to have Lt. Hoffman back. "Engineering operating at 100 percent."

Kara stayed quiet, as she sat at the assistant chief's engineering station. She knew, she had a lot of work to do, to make up; to her superiors and crew-mates. Her hand touched her hairpin, dedicated to the gone, but never, ever forgotten honourable chief she had learned under. "I won't let you down, sir." She muttered under her breathe.

Siora had been in the lower deck of the bridge manning one of the intelligence stations. On her left was an image from the viewscreen and she could hear the chatter from the bridge through internal communications, that way she missed nothing going on up there. The planet was beautiful, no question, and she had been monitoring the region out of safety for the shuttle. Protection of its inhabitants and information was of paramount importance.

Lia worked her station and completed a few deep scans of the surrounding space and then one of the planet it's self, "Security and Tactical scans complete, everything is quiet and the board is green and clear".

From his XO's chair, Gary's eyes swept over the bridge taking everything in from Lia at her station to Kara, softly talking at the assistant engineers station to Phoenix, herself serene and calm as the beehive of activity that was the bridge buzzed around her.

=Shuttle bay=

A sleek shuttle entered the shuttlebay.

Arrianna stood waiting in the shuttlebay for its crew to disembark. She paced somewhat, Life was still business as usual on the Elysium. Not that she was complaining. Just business as usual seemed to be a paradise right now.

The shuttle hatch opened and three sentients descended the ramp. All three were human, two men and 1 female.

the leader, a tall male with sandy blond hair stepped forward. "Hello. I am Doctor Silias Hamil."

"Commander Arrianna Salanis an Vantar. I am the Second Officer and Chief Science Officer onboard the USS Elysium. We have prepared accommodations for you. This way." She gestured towards the doorway.

"Thank you commander" The group fell into step behind her.

Nerniath looked up. "Captain, we have confirmation that the shuttle is aboard."

"Very good. Bring up the QSD navigation." The Captain Ordered.

Neri grinned. With Miraj away, it was her turn. She didn't rub her hands together but it was close.

Phoenix stepped up to the helm. "At warp 6 how long would it take us to get to Quell'ish?"

"4 days Captain"

"And with QSD?"

"Oh A couple of hours" came the oh-so-innocent reply from the Andorian.

"Gotta love technology." Phoenix said. "Plot the course into the QSD."

"Aye"

Phoenix stepped back and looked at the Comms Officer. "Open Ship wide Channel"

"Aye, Ship wide channel open"

[["Attention all hands, this is the captain. Set condition Yellow. QSD activation in 3 minutes."]]

Lia again swept the surrounding space with a ultra long range scan, gaining as much from the sensors as she could. "Long range sensor sweep clear, we shouldn't have any difficulties engaging QSD Captain". She kept her report short, no need over doing a simple scan report.

Alicia sighed, she hated the QSD trips though if asked why she couldn’t really explain what she hated about it. She held onto her seat and waited for the inevitable jump.

Arrianna walked into Stellar Cartography and tapped her combadge. "Confiming slipspace coordinates, Captain. Coordinates confirmed. Avalon, verify all subfunction status."

At the mention of activating the QSD, the Marines ceased all activity and secured themselves in offices, benches, and desks. In the MCO Office, Naxea sighed in annoyance. THE QSD was more of a nuisance to her department as it interrupted training and the scheduled daily activities.

Andy winced as he felt her inside him, then looked around when he hard the order. Looking back, he quickly glanced around. pretty soon they were scurrying around finding a place to secure themselves.

On the bridge Gallia immediately got to strapping herself in, hoping Mrs. Blankenship was doing the same with Tayalas.

"Neri, take us to QSD" Phoenix ordered as she sat down in the centre chair. "Destination, Quell'ish"

"Aye Aye!" came the eager reply. So eager that several officers did a double take to make sure the pilot had the Andorian's white hair and not the bright Pink of their chief of flight. Phoenix merely grinned.

There seemed to the observer a flicker of hesitation, when the Elysium jumped to QSD, but on the bridge it was as smooth as silk.
