MGM OOC: Doctors, I know you haven't read it yet, as it hasnt bern posted yet, but, the commander of the Havrah (Romulan vessel), has offered the aid of his crew in any way possible. For you guys, its medical. Now, please feel free to add as many of the medical staff that you feel would be appropriate for this jp. :-)
OOC: Sorry for the late reply. I will get started on this first thing tomorrow.
Sthilg blinked his eyes a few times as he read the padd he'd been handed after finishing yet another surgery. Romulans.
He'd worked with them before, back in the days of the Dominion War. Still, any aid would be appreciated. " Right, we have sssome incoming romulan medicle ssstaff incoming sssome one make sssure the beam in area is clear. " the gorn said loudly but clearly to his still working team.
The mention of Romulans both intrigued and worried T'Kek. He had never worked directly with them yet he had heard stories of their stubbornness, especially when they had different ideas. He only hoped they will remain cooperative throughput their stay.
Zuriñe didn't look up when she heard Sthilg mention Romulans were going to assist. True they did not hold the same ethical ideas Federation doctors had, but they were remarkably efficient doctors.
J'Air went immediately to the Transporter Beam-In area as instructed and cleared away some leftover blankets that someone had either dropped or slept on here. She then did a small test on the transponders by sending her medcorder across to the coffee replicator area where she would retrieve it later. It was all in perfect working order and clear for incoming Romulans or other emergencies. She herself had been grateful for it working during the previous day's attacks and knew how much it mattered.
The doors opened and a security Ensign entered, leading 4 romulans. They all carried medical kits, and the woman who led them looked around carefully. Her gaze landed on the Chief Medical officer. "Commander Sthilg" She said without waiting to be introduced. "I am Calin t'Rhenn, Chief Medical officer of the Havarah. This is my team. We are here to assist with whatever you require of us."
Heather was just as surprised to see Romulans in Sickbay offering help, but she had learned never to judge a book by its cover, if they could help then so much the better.
Emily exchanged a surprised glance with Kara, with recent events Sickbay could definitely use any expertise they had to offer. “We could certainly use the help” Emily offered.
When the Romulan's entered Zuriñe didn't bother to even acknowledge them. She was working on suturing a particularly nasty femoral arty wound and could not be distracted. She was doing her damnedest to save the young engineers leg.
Sthilg did his best to look as friendly as he could, but given the state of his facilities, that was rather hard. " Nice to meet you Dr Calin. I apologissse for the lack of welcome, but we are in quite a messsss. We have seventeen patients in need of sssurgery and no were near enough ssstaff. "
The Lead, Romulan female smiled. "I have brought my team, small though it is, just where do you need us?"
Zuriñe finished with suturing the formal artery. She then began to assess the rest of the damage to the leg. It was, as humans say, a train wreck. She had stabilized the immediate threat, but now needed to begin work on the rest of the mess. She then recalled that the Romulans had developed a new technique for repairing critically damaged limbs. With reluctance she looked up, "Pardon me Doctor t'Rhenn, but you would not happen to have amongst your team someone familiar with the new technique for repair of critically damaged limbs would you?" Zuriñe asked with some reluctance. She hated asking for help.
Calin nodded and waved one of her people forward, a male romulan. "Merak tr'Rehu here spent 6 months at Starfleet Medical as part of the exchange program in 2397. He is aware of this technique."
The Romulan inclined his head. "I would be happy to assist."
Zuriñe nodded, "Then your help would be most appreciated. I have stabilized and repaired all major arteries and veins, but the rest is a massive jigsaw puzzle, though I do believe we can save the leg. I detest the thought of amputation unless all options have been tried. "
Merak nodded. "Then lets get started."
J'Air had not long finished working on Fernando's savaged leg and was very interested to see if there was anything new to be learned that she could add to the work she had done already. There was always room to improve any level of help that was newly available. She watched and made notes before moving on to her next patient.
Calin gave her team over to the head nurse with instructions to do as they are instructed. Nurses were very knowledgeable and she knew it.
Zuriñe nodded,"I'll continue with the repair of the arteries and veins. Then onto the lymphatic ducts. You handle the nerves, then tendons and ligaments. With skill and a bit of luck we'll save the leg. We begin on your mark, we will have forty five minutes to do all this; otherwise we amputate." Zuriñe waited for the word, this was one hell of a surgery they were going to be performing.
Merak nodded and a nurse brought their scubs.
While her team melded in with the Federation Crew, Calin joined a nurse restocking essentials and handed over some of their own supplies to assist. In medical, the assistance was gratefully received.
