Mission: Season 3: Episode 4: Cause and Effect
Location: Bridge
Timeline: MD7 8h30
6093 words - 12.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Phoenix felt horrible. But she could not show it. She had barely eaten since waking that morning. But as Captain, she had gotten up, dressed in her uniform, and made it to the bridge without, anyone noticing she was not 100%.

Now sitting in her Chair, she watched the crew as they moved through the pitch black of the void.

She was concentrating on not throwing up, when the ship suddenly bucked and rolled. -Gods!- she thought gripping her chair arms with white knuckles. Around her people yelled out as the ship continued to buck and roll.

From his station, Gary reacted quickly, "Helm! Turn us into the wave!" He shouted as he fought to remain in his seat, both hands digging, gripping the armrests of the chair. As the ship bucked and rolled.

Before he'd even spoken, Miraj had shoved the inertial dampers into overdrive, and fired half the thrusters so the whole ship span on its longitudinal axis and shot down at the same time, heading for the shortest distance away from the twist in the fabric of spacetime. The ship bucked as she made it pivot away to get them beneath the wave. She could feel the thrum of the strain on the dampeners fizz through the chair she was sitting in and the tension ran up her spine, but this was her element. This was flying. Far better than snoring away two days at Warp 2. This was fun!

Alicia hadn’t long stepped out of the turbolift having been off the bridge. She was enroute to her seat when the ship had hit the wave, thrown off her feet by the turbulence she gave it a moment to get her bearings before grabbing the nearest thing to stabilise herself and move to her feet. At least she had nothing worse than a few bumps and scratches.

Phoenix pushed herself from her chair and grabbed the counselor and helped her to her seat.

“Thank you Captain” Alicia offered a warm smile as she settled into her seat and hung on.

"Well, isnae this a pretty bastard of a day!" Gallia complained loudly as she strapped herself into her seat, though she wanted to bolt from the bridge to find her child, who she knew was freaking out right now, "Whet in hell was tha?"

M'Tuuri watched as her coffee slide down the length of her console and off the other side, The bitter black liquid sloshing gently as she caught it mid fall. "I did say things were being unusually boring..." She growled to Casper, shifting her body and tail around to stay somewhat in place compared to everyone else.

Holding on, Lia scanned the area. "Captain, we've hit a wave of some sort. From the little information I have, it may be a temporal wave". She swore under her breath as the ship bucked again, "We need to get the hell out of this, we could end up with massive damage if we don't". Glancing at Phoenix, Lia could tell that she wasn't well but just what was wrong for now might have to wait. "Commander Taylor, permission to extend the shields and try and protect the ship from more damage?"

"Do it Lia!" Phoenix hit her comms as another wave buckled the ship. "All Civilians to the Bunkers!" There were several civilian bunkers around the ship for security purposes.

Then she glared at science "Arri! I need scans and I want to know how we get out of this!"

Arrianna ran her fingers over her console. "It's a temporal shock wave from a localized rift in space-time. It's massive. All our readings are being reflected back!"

"So no way out?" Phoenix asked as she gripped her chair.

"We're trying to find something that barely registers on our sensors!" Arri noted. "Wait, an anti-chroniton burst, it will cause the rift to light up on all our sensors. Lieutenant Hoffman, we need to reconfigure the main deflector to emit Anti-Chronitons."

Kara held onto her Station with all her Strength, riding out the shockwave. "Alright, I'll get it done as fast as i can." She quickly tapped into the main deflector control from her station and started to move around pieces of data that to anyone untrained would look like nonsense. "Give me a few seconds" She looked over to Arri after maybe ten seconds. "That Ought to do it, see anything?" She asked.

Lia followed the discourse between Kara and Arri, "I'll see if I can do things at this end, I know one or two little tricks". She watched as Kara worked her magic, and attempted to enhance what she was doing. "I'm thinking a class five probe might be a good idea, we could use it to see closer to the rift and save the Elysium from further damage".

"Agreed Launch it Commander" Phoenix called out

Arri examined the anomaly now that it was more visable on the sensors. "Phoenix... this is fascinating. Let me bring it up on the main viewer." What was shown was an intricate web structure between the temporal anomaly and the void itself. "It's like a spider's web of intricate time-space filiments, all of them Temporal Rifts. Intriguing. However, as much as I would like to study it, the filiments are reacting to the presence of our warp fields. Every contact, creates a temporal shockwave."

"Kind of hard to avoid that I am guessing." Phoenix replied as her stomach rolled. She had never been bad at such things before, so why now did she have to suffer.

"We need to do an emergency warp drive shutdown, every warp core on the ship. Engineering, the runabouts, the shuttles and the fighters." Arri noted. "Kara, Gallia, we need to shut them all down, or we're going to be torn in half!"

Gary gave a quick glance at Phoenix. She looked positively green around the gills but was holding it together, toughing it out. "Damage reports coming in from all decks. Multiple reports of crew injured and damage to the interior structure of the ship."

Looking up from the tactical station, Turak said to the Captain and Commander Taylor, "I've activated all security personnel to direct all civilians to bunkers."

==ELSEWHERE ON ELYSIUM==

Tavrus had been striding down the corridor, on his way to a meeting, when he felt a shudder, and then was thrown off his feet and into the bulkhead as the ship began to roll like it was an old-style wooden vessel on stormy seas. He waited for it to settle, hearing the engines surge as they struggled to turn the massive vessel into the wave they'd obviously come in contact with, and then struggled to his feet. He set off towards the intel department offices at nearly a dead run, wanting to be there in case there was anything he could help with.

Across from Spider's Web and Carousel of Fashion, Eleanor Blankenship had taken Tayalas to the kiddie rides to keep her mind off of the tension shipboard and the frightening darkness of the void. As she put Tayalas into the duck, the ship started to shake in a manner she couldn't recall since the battle of Wolf 359, Can't be the Borg can it? She wondered, then noticed Tayalas, and she as well, was about to go airborne. Grabbing the child quickly, she held onto the neck of the giraffe ride beside the duck for dear life as things and people started to come off of the deck, knowing she couldn't let go of Tayalas, the impact might kill the poor little girl.

"Mrs. Blankyship! Hep me!" Tayalas begged her beloved babysitter, terror streaming down her face from her eyes.

"It's okay, Tayalas." Mrs. Blankenship reassured her, though she had no way to be sure that was true, "Won't be much longer."

Miran and Triston were having a catch up before School and classes when the system went haywire. They managed to get out onto the concourse where a child's cry caught their attention.

"There!" Triston pointed as he held Miran by the shoulders against the turbulence.

The pair staggered over to the lady and the young Andorian Child. "Ma'am, can we help?" The cadet asked.

"This is Cdr. Norris from Operations' child, her name is Tayalas, please get her somewhere safe, I'll be along right behind you." Mrs. Blankenship answered, the child's safety was her top priority right now. Seeing something ahead she didn't like, she turned to the young woman in the civilian clothes, "Umm, excuse me, pretty miss, but you might want to move over here behind me and Tayalas, toot sweet."

Miran saw the cart and groaned. "Great. Lets all get out of here." she said pulling the Lady and child off towards the wall and Triston followed.

Tayalas looked up and saw someone she remembered, that was Miran, she came to her birthday! Feeling better now that more friends had arrived, she managed to stop sobbing, "Miwan, memba me? Yalas?"

As for Max and CHief Aguon, they were both down in the Holodeck Chapel and now standing inside St. Peters Cathedra, Max was practicing doing a mass, when suddenly he and Chief Aguon were finding themselves falling and rolling into each other as St. Peters suddenly disappeared, as the ship shuddered. With klaxons, and bells now going off all over the ship, Ikay said... "I take that this is a sign from heaven, spoke Chief Aguon. Nope not even close to those pearly gates, priests, and others once said in Seminary school replied Max. Besides how come we dont hear any secondary explosions, or smell any smoke or fumes coming from inside the ship continued Max as he depressed his comm badge and said

Solanga to bridge... What the heck did we hit, soke Max in a measured voice. Right now the two of us are now as cool and calm as a cucumber, replied Max as he waited for someone on the bridge to speak up..

Max then pressed the ships internal communication and said as he waited for an answer from the bridge... "Anyone need a Chaplain", which would be broadcasted out among the entire ship

The ensign at Comms replied "Captain Lalor and Commander Taylor are in the middle of the situation. Get all Civilians to bunkers. Further updates will be made when available."

[[ "All Civilians to the Bunkers!" ]]

"I remember sweetie" Miran smiled at the child. "We are all going to go to the safe place ok?"

"Okay, Miwan." Tayalas cooed, "We find my mommyy? Pwease?"

Triston kept himself between the three and any chance of debris as they moved through people panicking around them. He calculated the distance to the nearest bunker and wondered if they would make it in his head.

Miran wanted to say yes, but she knew that Gallia would be on the bridge. Instead she put a bright smile on her face and said. "Come on Blueberry, its an adventure." And together she and Triston hustled the pair to the nearest bunker.

"Okay, Miwan, I go vencher with yoos." Tayalas smiled, looking back to make sure Mrs. Blankyship was okay.

*Elsewhere*

Imik had been in her cabin when the wave hit, she heard the order for the civilians. She now made her way to the bridge, as the Ojnas envoy she might be able to help in some way. But she didn't know much of this void, and until she knew what was causing this problem she could offer little help.

In Operations Lt. Gregory struggled to one, keep the power distribution grid from overloading as circuits sparked and crackled and 2, keeping power to the key systems even as the ship lurched and bucked like a raft caught in the rapids.

Down in the counseling complex Savar was preparing to see his first patient when the ship started to shake, as he thought what the cause could possibly be, he was suddenly airborne and flung across his office into a wall. His only thought as he slid to the floor was *Alicia*.

== Back on the Bridge ==

Alicia suddenly gasped as she sensed a strong mental thought from Savar, their connection was still new but she knew what she felt and heard. She tapped her comm badge. “Bridge to Sickbay, I need someone to the Counselling offices to check on Commander Savar!”

"This is Ensign Masters to the bridge, I'm making my way to Cdr. Savar's office now." Maddy replied, trudging valiantly through the flying debris that had previously been neatly organized offices and waiting areas to Savar's door and managing to get through it, finding the Vulcan unconscious on the... well, now the wall, as the ship was apparently still bucking and rolling, "Masters to medical, I need help for Cdr. Savar, he's unconscious and might have a neck injury."

Savar stirred and his eyes fluttered open, they quickly focused on Maddy kneeling besides him. "Madelene, this is not a safe area. You should go."

"With all due respect, Commander, duh." Maddy laughed, scanning his neck for any broken bones or other damage, "Right now there's no such thing as a safe area on the ship." Her tricorder dinged, showing it had completed it's scan, revealing no permanent damage, "And the good news is there's nothing broken. So, we ready to get out of here?"

Savar tilted his head at her, "A most logical and excellent idea Madelene." He stood slowly, his face neutral yet he could feel his muscles protesting as they moved and stretched. "Where would you suggest we go Madelene?"

"The bunkers where Milla, Mark, and I hid when the Romulans boarded." Maddy answered, "They should be safer than anywhere else. I'll have Tallia meet us there!"

Savar nodded in approval. "Yes, they should provide sufficient protection from us being tossed about." Savar agreed.

"Come on, let's go." Maddy suggested, offering her hand to Savar and tapping her commbadge with the other, "Ens. Masters to Dr. Strode, can you meet me in the civilian bunkers? I've got Cdr. Savar and he's got some injuries, possible concussion."

"I'll meet you there, Maddy. Strode out." Tallia replied, knowing she would just have to follow the lights to find Maddy and Savar.

==Arcadia==

The ship seemed to growl in protest at the sudden forces exerted on the hull, echoing menacingly around the large Arcadia lounge. "Arcadia to Sickbay, we have severely injured crew up here." S'hib snorted as he ran towards a young man who had fallen over the second floor balcony, the smashed table nearby do very little to soften his fall. "Clear the area!" He yelled as everything from the floor above started to be flung through the glass railings above.

A split second decision later and S'hib was above the injured crewman, shielding him with his own body as glass and furniture fell from above.

[[ "All Civilians to the Bunkers!" ]]

==Marine Country==

"What now?" Naxea asked no one in particular as she was thrown to the deck from her chair. She pushed herself to her feet and slapped her comm badge. "Azhul to all Marines, get your asses geared up and standby!" Naxea knew this was far from regular spatial turbulence.

"Damn idiotic engineers! Probably ripped apart the fabric of space time with their stupid toy." Rhodes complained, "Alright, people, you heard the lady, assholes and elbows, move out!"

==Sickbay==

Heather was already in Sickbay when the turmoil started, no sooner did the ship start rocking and rolling then the wounded started pouring in through the doors. She set herself up by the door as best as she could to triage the wounded as they arrived and direct them to different areas. She just hoped that whatever was going on it ended sooner rather than later.

Lt. Commander Vaii brought a crewman into the sickbay on her shoulders that suffered a conduit explosion. "Medic!!!"

Heather looked around seeing everyone busy so she quickly made her way over to the wounded crewman. She motioned to a nearby biobed. “Bring him over here please Commander, I can get him stabilised while we wait for a Doctor.” Her thoughts changed to Fernando hoping he was alright.

With a speed, few would think possible for such a large lizard the gorn MD was with the two. " Internal bleeding and burnsss. Get me a blood pack with A- blood." The gorn said already getting out his tools to get to work.

“A negative, Yes doctor!” Heather rushed off to get a blood pack, it didn’t take her long to find one. She quickly hurried back to the biobed and set up the pack.

The gorn took the blood pack and inserted it into the biobed before attaching a small cube to the wounded crewman. " Hand me a subdermal ssscalpal." the gorn replied keeping his eyes on the patient as he worked.

Heather reaches to the tray of equipment nearby. “Scalpel” She handed it professionally to him.

The gorn took it from her and began working sealing the ensigns internal bleeding from within without having to damage the burned skin. " Okay that's the bleeding sssealed off. How'sss his blood oxygen levels?" the gorn said flawlessly swapping from the scalpel to a gel applicator to help with the burns.

“Oxygen levels...” Heather looked at the readouts. “Are beginning to stabilise.” She smiled at the Gorn, he was a very good doctor and surgeon.

==Armory==

Fernando was in the armory, for some reason Commander Holmes liked putting him in the armory. He was replacing power packs that needed it and charging the rest when the ship began to violently roll, buck and pitch, throwing him to the floor with a resounding thud. Reaching a hand out, he was able to grab hold of the leg of the work bench he had been seated at just moments before and was able to pull himself back up to his feet. "Ay caramba!" He shouted, instantly thankful no one was around to hear his exclamation. His thoughts then centered on Heather, hoping, praying she was alright.

=BRIDGE=

At Arri's pronouncement about the warp cores. Phoenix shoved her nausea down. "Shut them down. Get every available officer to the shuttlebay and deep shuttle storage. Get those warp cores off line!"

"Right." Gallia replied, though they were the same rank Arri had substantial seniority over Gallia, so the Scot obeyed the Science Officer's orders, sending crews to the shuttlebays and the fighter hangars with orders to take every warp core offline immediately.

"Helm try maneuvering thrusters to try and stabilize the ship!"

At helm, Miraj rolled her eyes, what did the captain think she'd been doing for the last few minutes? The thrusters burned and spat as her fingers danced on the controls, as she fought the contortions of spacetime around them, minimising the turbulence as best she could.

She glanced at the readings from the sensors coming to the helm. They'd been travelling along at full impulse when it hit, and while it hadn't pushed them back, they were now caught, even with the engines grinding at full powers. Maybe that was the wrong approach.

She cut the engines, stopped fighting the wave, then her fingers twisted on the conn as she angled the ship to go with it, giving up on holding course and just concentrated on staying with it.

The shape of space around them seemed like a tightly knotted mobius, a couple of little bumps and they'd be free. Her sensors gave her hope. "Everyone hold on." The shaking that threatened to tear the inertial dampening field to bits eased off and was then replaced by a sudden lurch as they pulled up through it. Her sensors gave her hope. "Almost there." She threw the helm straight up, the ventral thrusters firing with wild abandon, breaking through the second concentration of the wave with another bone jarring lurch. "One more!"

"Bridge to Major Azhul." Phoenix called out. "Please assist civilians to the bunkers."

"Will do, Captain," Naxea replied.

As reports came in from his security personnel, Turak reported to the Captain, "Ma'am, the civilians are approximately 95% accounted for and in the bunkers. Security will continue directing the stragglers."

TAG anyone?

The final peak was just seconds away, technically two patches of turbulence with the barest hint of a safe corridor between them, and the Elysium was caught in an eddy. Even with the thrusters firing full blast getting into position was going to be a pig. Miraj could feel the ship's screaming as the disparate forces tried to pull it in two different directions. There was only one chance of this.

The young pilot twisted Elysium, practically turning it over on its stern to make the twist onto its side. She could here the SIF and the inertia alarms scream in protest but she ignored them, as she wrestled the Elysium into the right moment with constant back and forth of the dorsal and ventral thrusters. Then she slammed the helm to full impulse. With a growl from its engines, the Elysium jumped forward through the turbulance, the ship shuddering all the way to its bones.

Phoenix gritted her teeth and clutched at the chair's arms people were thrown from chairs, She slid from her chair in one of the throws but she managed to hold on.

And then it was over. The shaking and the shuddering finished, and red lights turned back to orange, occasionally green. with Elysium still, Miraj turned in her chair to the captain, "We're clear of the anomaly, Ma'am."

An eerie quiet settled over the bridge as those on it got their bearings and got back to work. "Dispatching damage control teams to all decks." Gary said crisply even as the ship slowly settled down onto an even keel.

Standing, Phoenix nodded. "I want each deck searched top to bottom. I want all injured and personnel accounted for."

"The teams are doing that now Captain." Gary said quietly.

She turned to the viewer. "Location?" she asked not really confident that there would be a response she liked.

Arri checked. "Sol System. Specifically; Sol V." She noted. "But its strange. I'm not picking up Jupiter Station. Nor the traffic beacons, or any in-system traffic. Utopia Planitia is gone. Starbase One is gone. " Arri mentioned. "I'm using the long range sensors to determine exact time we are in."

Phoenix wanted to curse. But instead she nodded, moved to the Helm. "Ensign, put us in orbit around Jupiter, keep us as close to the rings as possible."

Miraj stared at the helm. By her maths, which was always right when it came to navigation, they couldn't have physically travelled more than an astronomical unit. But here they were, 100 light years back where they started. That was one hell of a space-snarl. "Aye, ma'am." Putting the ship in orbit was easy, and after finding a geo stationary orbit, over where the spot would be. It was only just there, barely half the diameter of earth. With a nice view of the nascent storm, she sat back in the chair, slightly confused.

Then she grinned. 1664. The Golden age of pirates. Francois l'Olonnais was holding Tortuga for ransom right about now. Miraj decided that this could actually be really fun.

"Damn peculiar." Gary noted, "Not even background noise. it's dead air."

He turned to Phoenix who seemed to have regained some of her color, "I'd like to do a first hand inspection of the decks to see how bad the damage is and what repairs to prioritize."

"Of course" Phoenix agreed.

Gary nodded and stepped close to her. "When this settles down, go to Sickbay." Then he was across the bridge and in the lift to begin his survey. As he entered the lift, he tried to make eye contact with Lia but she was busy hunched over console trying to make sense of the lack of data coming in.

Phoenix rolled her eyes but turned back to Arri and the scanners.

"Phoenix. I know when we are." Arrianna noted. "I've performed some long range scans, "Very few warp driven vessels are on the edge of our long range sensors. I've used our sensors and I have performed an examination of Earth" The main Viewscreen appeared and began to zoom in on a city in the northern hemisphere. A comparison image of London showed. "The image on the right is London. Earth Year 2485. The image on the left is the same city; circa 1664 AD." Arri mentioned. "We are over seven centuries displaced in time."

Phoenix stared at her. "You have 10 hours to find out everything on that timeline Commander. I want the information ready to present to the senior staff by 19h today."

--

*Moments later her was deck 2, the mall area. Damage control teams were already in the area looking for any injured. He headed to the nearest bunker. Approaching he spoke, "This is Commander Taylor. How many inside and any injured?" As he hit the release lock to open the bunker up.

Eleanor Blankenship staggered to the door when it opened, hoping this nightmare was finally over, "Not injured, young man, just shaken up." She stated, "Got a baby over there that might have gotten shaken up, too. And Harley's seen better days." She pointed towards Harley Richfield, who had been hit pretty hard when his cookie cart broke free of it's moorings, "He'll need a doctor."

Gary nodded as Mrs. Blankenship spoke. He called a medic over to look at Harley, Then he saw Miran and Triston. "Your royal Highness, Mr. Montgomery are you both okay?" Yet even as he asked he was was moving to Tayalas, "Hey there buttercup. You okay?" he asked as he knelt
in front of her.

Miran nodded. "Yes Commander" She said softly.

Triston helped Miran to her feet.

"Mr. Montgomery, why don't you escort her Royal Highness to Sickbay, so they can give her a quick checkup." Gary suggested as he looked at the little blueberry who had stolen his heart.

Miran rolled her eyes and Triston smirked. "Well you did make a fuss at that Lovejoy guy about your rank," The cadet reminded her as he pulled her from the bunker. Her response was in Erisian and didn't sound polite.

"Bye bye, Miwan! We vencher later, ok?" Tayalas called to the older girl, "Lub oo! Sana! How you got here? We take Mrs. Blankyship to docher?"

"I heard there was a blueberry keeping everyone calm and I knew that had to be you and here you are." Gary told the child. "We'll let a doctor look Mrs. Blankenship over. I know someone very worried about you."

"We go my mommyy???" Tayalas asked, her eyes lit up with the energy of a thousand stars, she wanted to see her mommy because she was scared.

"We sure will precious." Gary replied, "Come into my arms and you can see her."

"Yay!" Tayalas squealed with delight and relief, "We go my mommyy!" She climbed into Sana's arms and hugged tightly to him, pointing back to her sitter, "Sana, Mrs. Blankyship..."

"It's alright, precious." Mrs. Blankenship replied, pointing to the medic tending to Harley, "As soon as that young lady is done with Harley she'll look after me and we'll both go to the doctor and you can come visit me there."

"Okay, Mrs. Blankyship." Tayalas said with a relieved smile, she now knew her sitter was okay. She blew a little kiss and smiled, "I lub oo, Mrs. Blankyship, come home bettaw, okay?"

"I will, darling." The older woman smiled kindly, "I love you, too. And don't forget to make sure Mommy brings you to see me, okay?"

"We won't." Tayalas promised, "Wight, Sana?"

"Right!" Gary replied emphatically. "We can even bring Mrs. Blankenship some choccy chip cookies." As he held Tay in his arms.

"We bwing Choccy chippy cookies for Mrs. Blankyship." Tayalas said with glee. Laying her little head against Sana's chest to hear the thumpy thumps, she looked up towards him and said, "Sana, we can go mommyy now."

He hugged Tay tighter. "We sure can my angel." He said as he made his way back to the lift. "Bridge." He said and the lift jerked into motion and a short time later they were at the bridge, As the lift doors opened and he stepped out with Tayalas in his arms he said. "Commander Norris, I have someone who is most anxious to see you."

"MOMMYYY!!!!" Tayalas exclaimed, she had been afraid when all that stuff started happening that she might never see her again.

"Tay." Gallia smiled, wiping a tear from her eye and taking her baby from the XO, "Where'd ye find her, sir?"

"On deck 2 in the bunker with Mrs. Blankenship who is shaken up but otherwise fine." He looked over to Phoenix, "Miran was there as well and she is also fine ."

Phoenix nodded "Lieutenant Commander Norris, if you would like to take your daughter to Medical for a check up, i understand." She said calmly. She was not sure the bridge was the best place for the child at that point in time.

"Miwan okay, we go on vencher." Tayalas reassured the Captain.

"Aye, thank ye, Captain." Gallia smiled, holding her child close, "Come on, blueberry, we gotta let Dr. Bossk have a look at ye. Dr. Sthilg." she reminded herself, for some reason she desperately wanted him to be Bossk, possibly because right now she needed her protector, "Kara, when we're done in sickbay we'll need someone te look after her."

"How about Mila?" Anje offered, "She can get Tay from sickbay and take her to my place, Georgi misses her."

"Mommyy, I go play Gorky?" Tayalas asked, she loved that big ol' fluffball.

"Okay, Darlin', first let ye poor worried mommy get ye checked out by the doctor, okay?" Gallia asked, she knew Tayalas understood her concerns. With a nod to the Captain she stepped into the lift and they were on their way to Dr. Sthilg.

As soon as Gallia and Tay were off the bridge, Gary looked around, "Well, I um should get back to my inspection, so I'll just be off." As he moved to the lift to enter.

Alicia couldn’t believe what she was hearing, they’d travelled in time and that was never good news. Right now she could be of more use elsewhere so she quickly got up and caught up with Taylor. “Permission to assist with the survey and search Sir? I have enough medical training to be of some use with the wounded.”

Gary paused entering the lift and looked at Alicia. One more officer on the bridge wasn't going to make that much of a difference while one more officer in a search party could be the difference between finding and missing someone. "We can use your help Lieutenant. Welcome to the team."

“Thank you Sir” Alicia offered a smile. “My senses should come in handy finding anyone whose trapped.”

Gary nodded, "You are welcome and I certainly hope so Lieutenant."

Phoenix still reeling from the information looked at Taylor. "Work with Security and the Marines Commander." She said as she moved towards the Operations. No Ops officer had been summoned to take the post, so she slid into the chair easily.

"At once Captain." Gary answered crisply "I'll set up a meeting with Commander Holmes and Major Naxea."

Phoenix stared at him. "If people are injured Commander, there is no time for a meeting. Just get the officers into the field."

"I apologize Captain, I misspoke. I wasn't planning on having a meeting now and teams are already in the process of searching for injured or missing crew." Gary answered crisply, firmly. "I'll get more officers onto the search teams." Gary looked to Lia, "Lia, I need every available officer you have in the field looking for injured and missing crew. Have Security sweep decks 2 thru 16." He tapped his combadge, "Major Naxea, have your Marines begin search for Injured and missing crew. Starting on deck 20 downward. Security is also in on finding crew members."

Thinking that his talents would be put to better use searching for the missing crew, Turak asked Commander Holmes, "May I join the Security search parties? I don't foresee having to fire the ships weapons anytime soon and I would be of more help down below at the moment."

"Get going Commander, I'll stand watch here. Get the rest of the Security out and searching, I want us working with the crew. And see if you can locate S'hib, he seems to be one of the missing".

Imik had by now arrived on the bridge, "Sinkahue, where do you require me? I can surely be of use, in some small capacity".

Phoenix looked at her. "You can. Assist the security teams please. All available hands."

==Arcadia==

The sound of glass occasionally crashing onto the floor still echoed throughout Arcadia, the mass of furniture from the floor above lay pilled up against the far wall with everything else that wasn't fixed into place. S'hib during all this had slid further into the middle of the lounge, still atop the injured crewman as the wave of furniture barreled over them both.

With his ears ringing and his head pounding S'hib attempted to stand and look around before feeling a wet warmth running down the side of his head, a few uneasy steps over broken glass later and he fell to one knee, his vision blurring into pinpricks of white light as he fell onto his side, feeling as though the whole room was spinning around him.

"I heard the banging from here, ma'am," PFC Durak said to Naxea who came up behind him.

"Get these doors open," she ordered as two more Marines moved forward and struggled with the door.

After a moment, Naxea used her tactical scanner and was surprised at the readings. Several life signs--all fading from the fire and amount of smoke in the room with one being a Sequus.

"No use ma'am," Durak reported.

"Stand back!" Naxea ordered as she drew her Type 2 phaser, thumbed up the power and fired. The phaser beam struck the door and after a moment, burned through the door, disintegrating the locking mechanism. A few long seconds later, the doors slid open as smoke escaped the confined room. "Get those people out of there!" Naxea ordered as she holstered her phaser and rushed into the room. She and Durak moved to get S'hib out of the room, dropping him outside the doorway. "Major Azhul to Sickbay! We have several injured outside of the Arcadia."

=Damage control=

When the alert came, Smith ran to the Damage Control room and started sending repair teams to various parts of the ship that suffered damage. Teams are dispatched according to need. There was a team in engineering, monitoring the core. Another team was handling a hull problem. Smith kept moving teams around when one finished it's assignment.

There was an explosion, and several consoles exploded, knocking Smith down. When he regained his senses, he found himself trapped under some rubble. He was trapped from the waist down. He went to tap his commbadge, but it must be been blown off his tunic. "Computer, respond!" There waas no response. His left leg felt damp. He thought that he either soiled himself or that maybe he was bleeding. He moved some debris and felt his leg then pulled his hand out....there was blood on his hand.

He grabbed a pipe that was laying on teh floor and started banging it af=gainst the debris and screaming for help.

Then he smelled smoke...there must be a fire nearby.

Smoke starting filling the room. He kept on trying to yell but the smoke got worse...and he felt weak, probably from the loss of blood.

He got weaker...and the smoke was filling the room and making him cough.

No one came. He muttered, "Is this how I die? Alone?"

Finally he passed out, his breath got shorter and shorter....then he closed his eyes...and he stopped breathing.

Just as he did, a security team entered, led by Lt Tirannth. She stared but jumped into action. "Edwards, put out the fire, Jackson, start compressions, Elliot, help me get this stuff off the Lieutenant"

The group worked together. "Got a pulse!" Jackson called out. "Medical is sending a team."
